  1. Just a thought to keep in mind. With many of us driving fuel injection cars we might tend to forget that there may be some hesitation on carburated vehicle which would be normal. Vehicles with carburetors always had some hesitation because of the distance for the fuel to travel from the carburator to the combustion chamber. This is especially true when the choke is transitioning from being on to off from cold start up. If the accelerator pump is good and working properly and the vehicle does not stall, it might be working to its capability.
  2. From my memory there are two switches. One for when the latch part of the deck lid comes in contact to the pull down. That then energizes the motor to start the sequence to pull down the deck lid. Then there is a second one that senses when the deck lid is down and turns off the pull down. The good thing about that device is that GM used it on everything that had a pull down on the deck lid and I have been told that other manufacturers used it also including Ford. If you need a wiring diagram, I might be able to find a basic/generic one from another car that might help you.
  3. Old Ford, Been there done that, except my axle broke driving up a ramp.
  4. Marty, You have the link going through AOL and it will not open.
  5. Bernie, Could you post some pictures so we can seed what you are up against. Thanks
  6. Barry, Rusty is correct on caster giving a vehicle the self centering of the wheels. The more positive, the more it wants to go straight. Here is a link on what the effect of where the caster is set. Larry Wheel Alignment Explained - What is Caster, Camber, Toe In, Toe Out, Alignment - Four Wheel Alignment
  7. Can you post a picture of your truck?
  8. The quick way that I use to check the wires is to open the door, slide the convuluted rubber passthrough back and pull on the wires. The one that breaks the insulation is the culprit with the copper wire broken.
  9. Maybe a dumb thought, but have you made sure that it has the correct fluid? If the fluid is not correct it will affect shift qualities.
  10. Having walked across the Mackinaw bridge, it is two lanes in each direction. The two center lanes are grates and the outside lanes are solid surface. It think it is ashpalt coated if I remember correctly. That was about 10 years ago. You can walk across the bridge on Labor Day each year with the Govenor in the lead.
  11. If you look at the many posts on change over, I think that you will see most would tell you to keep it 6 volt and fix the wires and connections. There is more to going from 6 to 12 like the gauges, light bulbs, generator, voltage regulator, radio if equipped, etc, etc, etc. There has been a lot of discussion on this topic. Best of luck if you do go forward.
  12. Here it is ShopCLR.com - ShopCLR.com
  13. The other thing that rivals and will boost the P... car or similar car tax is the Zip code tax.
  14. Mine is manual lift also. My wife jokes that most winters that I put the snow blower on we get less than average snow and so far this year is keeping up with her predictions..... but as for the cold that is another story. 15. I will keep my '72 vintage Cub Cadet tractor made by International Harvester.
  16. The $50,000 WAS NOT GIVEN to the McLaughlin enterprise. Is was a loan. From the link "But we wanted to stay in Oshawa. We felt a loyalty to the town in which we had now been established for nearly a quarter of a century, a loyalty which amounted to the feeling that Oshawa owned the business as much as the McLaughlins did. And we soon had heartening evidence that Oshawa reciprocated that feeling. The town offered us a loan of $50,000, to be repaid "as convenient.""
  17. PMO, What is your point??? Basically in Col Sams words he said that he sold McLaughlin to GM to continue its existence as he did not have any other family to carry on. Also with the very favorable terms that he had in the orignal contract with Buick and Durant he could have gone it alone but undersood the risks. THERE WAS NO TAKE OVER OF MCLAUGHLIN BY GM. It was a consentual sale to GM from the McLaughlin family. Go back and read the narrative by Col Sam him self that Matt Hinson posted. Especially the first two sections. Those are HIS words. Here is the link again. My Eighty Years on Wheels By R. S. McLaughlin
  18. PMO, Your arguments are equivalent to pushing a rope uphill...and the rope was not dipped in water and frozen.
  19. Believe it or not, Michigan still has item pricing. Every item on the shelf must have the price of it on the item. There are some exceptions like lumber, etc but they are few. The new govenor is proposing to discontinue that practice though.
  20. What does this say and what is the banner name? (larger type)
