  1. No experience here with that site, but if you are looking for a good forum for asking questions about the Chrysler/Dodge minivans I have a good one for you. The Chrysler Minivan Fan Club Forums They always come through for me when I have questions about my Grand Caravan.
  2. That's a really sharp car. Is it the stock color? Just wondering because I like that color a lot more than the color that mine is. Mine is close, but not quite the factory color, repainted by the previous owner.
  3. 4 bufords, I haven't done this yet to my '62, but from what I understand about Buick brake systems in the 60's is that there were two different types of brake boosters used...Delco and Bendix. I would have to do some reading to refresh my memory on how to tell the two apart. I am assuming that the two different part numbers your parts guy are giving you are for the two types of boosters. I would think that you would want to go with the same type booster that you have now, either Delco or Bendix. Maybe somebody more knowledgeable than myself will stop by and add some more information to the mix. Brian
  4. Here is a link to a thread that may be able to help you out... http://forums.aaca.org/f118/61-buick-brake-booster-214709.html Go down to message #9 in the thread. Jerry uses a booster/master cylinder setup from a '67 full-size Buick. I would think that the same setup would work for you.
  5. In what I've read I think guys have used a dual master cylinder off of a 67 full size. It has been a while since I was researching doing the same thing with my 62 so my memory is a bit fuzzy on it. I am sure someone here has done it and will post something more helpful.
  6. What's going on with the project? It's been two weeks...I'm starting to go through withdrawals.
  7. Mine is cracked in the same area...strange that they all crack there. How did you go about restoring yours?
  8. I joined the BCA after being introduced to it and the Bugle at a car show probably nine years ago or so. Not really sure why I keep renewing my membership. The Bugle is OK, but I could survive without it. The Buick car shows I have been to I have felt so out of place at that I don't get real excited about going to another. Maybe that would be different if I was able to bring my Buick to one, since I haven't been able to bring my car to one yet. But, at the Buick car shows I have been to I seem to have been the youngest person there by at least a decade, and everybody seems to be part of a clique that I am intruding in. For now, I will probably keep my membership and hope I can somehow fit in, but it gets harder and harder each year.
  9. I don't understand people leaving because of the modified cars. Oh the horror...people doing what they want to the cars that they own. Of course, I also don't get the fascination with 400 point judging.
  10. Since I am still pretty much a youngster around here my list is pretty short. In the order that I purchased them: 1971 Pontiac LeMans 2dr hardtop 1985 Chevy Celebrity 4dr 1962 Buick Electra 4dr sedan* 1985 Old 98 Regency 4dr 1993 Saturn SL1 4dr sedan 1978 Ford Courier pickup 1988 Dodge Shadow 4dr 1994 Mercury Sable 4dr 1998 Saturn SL2 4dr sedan 1998 Ford F150 Supercab 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan* 2004 Chevy Malibu 4dr sedan 2005 Chevy Silverado crew cab* *=currently own
  11. My first car was a 1971 Pontiac LeMans hardtop coupe. It had a Pontiac 350 V8 and auto trans. The previous owner spray-bombed it gold (probably because the body panels were three different colors underneath) and it had a brown vinyl interior. I only paid $150, drove it for 3 years, and reluctantly sold it for $750 to a guy restoring a GTO. I had to sell it to make room for something more fuel efficient (I was dating my wife at the time and our colleges were about 350 miles apart). My first and only Buick is my '62 Electra 4 door sedan. I bought it a month before I left for Marine Corps boot camp. I wasn't looking for a Buick (I had always been more of a Pontiac fan), was just attracted to it because it was an old car and had a powerful V8. I paid $2100 for it. It spent most of the next 8 years in storage until I got to a point in my career in the Marines where I could afford to get it out of storage. Currently doing small projects on it to keep it roadworthy so I can take the family cruising in it.
  12. Somewhere I have an old magazine with an article that covered these Reattas and the Estate wagon. I should probably find, scan, and post that one of these days.
  13. A lot of interesting places being mentioned. I just whoever is planning the National would coordinate with the guy at Marine Corps headquarters who is issuing me my orders. The upcoming Nationals in Ames would be perfect for me as I will be travelling through Minnesota and Wisconsin as I move to Georgia this summer...unfortunately it starts the day I am supposed to report in to my new duty station in Georgia. The same thing happened with the Rochester meet the year I moved from Wisconsin to California.
  14. Whoever bought it sure got a beautiful car!
  15. I grew up with very few Buicks around me. My dad was a die-hard Pontiac man and the grandfather that I saw the most was an Oldsmobile man. However, there were a few Buicks that stuck in my mind when I was growing up. Someone at church had a Buick very similar to this one, and I have always loved it for some reason. I don't like many other full size Buicks from the first half of the 70's, but this is one I would like to own some day.
  16. Good to hear the project is still on! I hadn't seen anything on it in a while and was beginning to worry that you had given up on it.
  17. Dan, don't know about a reference manual, but this website has some good info... BEFORE BLACK Website. All kinds of neat stuff on the 78-83 Turbo V6's.
  18. OOOhh...I like. Don't remember the last time I saw one of those.
  19. I failed my test the first time too. I couldn't do the three point turn. In my defense, the street the guy had me do it on was barely wide enough for two cars to pass going in opposite directions. The second time I took the test the guy who was testing me had me do the three point turn on a street that was wide enough that I could have done a U-turn with the '81 LeMans.
  20. My first ride would have been in a 1971 Pontiac LeMans. That was a car that I miss. It was a two door hardtop, Tropical Lime exterior, dark green interior. I loved that car so much that for my first car I found a 1971 LeMans two door hardtop. Mine, however, was Canyon Copper with a vinyl top and brown interior.
  21. I took my drivers test in my dad's 1981 Pontiac Grand LeMans. Dad was a Pontiac man, but this one had a Buick V6 in it.
  22. Adam, I love your updates. Every time I come to the forum I check this thread for updates. Very motivating to see your progress. Great work!
  23. Been waiting for a nearby Buick show. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make this one. A Saturday show would work better for me. Oh well...maybe next time.
