By the time we got home, I was really beat. It was really great to see the 2 1933 90's. That original black one is a real time capsule. Here for your reference are the production numbers I talked about: 90 - 840 90X - 12 90L - 299 90LX - 39 91 - 1637 91X - 2 900 - 24 (these and the 901's are those funny "cowl jobs" we talked about) 901 - 168 It was one of those 900's that became the car at Colorado Springs. As you can see, the 1933 90 series was a rare set of cars when they started out. To see a really nice original car with a great history and documentation was a real treat!   2. to all of the naysayers on 25k-try and find a model 90............ they really dont exist in 1933 10k will buy you any "normal" year and certainly not a model 90. go do a search and see what you find.................. I have no problem with committing to prices, but it does seem most are afraid to take a shot..............

Being German and having many relatives in Germany, I can tell you full out that the shame wasnt in what was done, but in losing the war for most Germans..... Having epicly failed the 1st WW and starving, the people were hungry for anything they were told in a new and unified country, that was being promised great success. not stating that everyone loved hitler, but they loved the promise and the dream.
  7. A painful lesson for someone, although there's technically no way for the auction company to force him to buy the car. I wonder what happened afterwards... right you are-no commitment to that bid.............................

  9. That's the BUYER'S premium. That's EXTRA over whatever your final bid is. 25%?!? Am I the only one who thinks buyer's premiums in general are ludicrous and this one is borderline offensive? Although maybe we now know how they're going to pay off everyone involved in this case. If the car sells for $5 million, they're going to get at least $500,000 from the seller and nearly $700,000 from the buyer. Maybe it's just me, but that seems offensive. maybe that's why the car didnt fetch 10 million on the first round? anything over 10% to me as a buyer, and I dont attend your auction-dont care if it's the biggest show on earth or a local estate sale. that is what's fair to me.

I use snipe all of the time on items I really want and rarely lose. they work very well. just have to be realistic on the purchase price. ebay has been pro buyer now for many years because of John Donahue, who had no interest in running ebay well. He did the owner and sellers a grave dis service. The new CEO is trying to correct some of that. too little too late. I only use ebay to buy most of the time anymore. not worth the hassle of selling................. fees are now at 10% on most items and then add the 3-4% paypal gets. on some items it becomes downright expensive. when I sold, I would never list an item worth less then 24.99 just wasnt worth my time.
  12. Seriously? Look, most dealers use ebay "auctions" as paid ads. Their cars are overpriced and never sell on-line. Ebay doesn't care so long as they make money. This ad is no different. Ebay has been squeezing small sellers with nickel and dime fees and price increases. This vendor is trying to minimize what he has to pay to run what is essentially an ad for parts. It would not be feasible or cost-effective to list every part in an individual auction. Ebay gets upset when the think they are missing out on profits. The "don't list phone numbers" and "no contact unless it goes through ebay" is solely to prevent sellers from closing a deal outside of ebay and thus avoiding these draconian fees. Frankly, ebay has gotten so user unfriendly, catering mainly to larger sellers, that I have very little sympathy for them. well said.................. dont get your liver in a quiver!

  23. When I was looking for a brass car — and I wanted one without a body – I saw nothing actually priced in the ranges mentioned above. As Restorer32 rightly suggests, the overwhelming attitude of this forum, and nearly always first response to any question like this is "you won't make money on it". So, if you are really interested in a brass car and you aren't looking to flip it, it's a great start and, I'd say, in the $7500 to $8500 range or maybe even a bit more would be fair. I paid more for a car in much less complete condition (but which is somewhat bigger). I strongly suspect that all, or most of the people on this forum have never bought, much less restored, a brass car. I think the general attitude here is profoundly discouraging, as if no one has any interest beyond making a quick buck. I based my 4500. evaluation on the fact that a 1912 Stude emf that was relatively complete, but needing a full restoration sold on ebay for 8500. last week, Yes, with the original body. question originally asked was to value- Restorer, you shouldnt always be so upset about folks here trying to price. We understand you are in this as a business and I certainly respect that. But when someone asks a pertinent question regarding value, many of us try to chime in. We are all only trying to help and agreed, money isnt everything, but the vast majority on this board dont have an endless supply of it........... I think you yourself would agree to that.
  24. value around 4500. for the chassis-speedster is a good choice also there is a fella on ebay from Maine, who builds all kinds of delivery's as well as the speedster bodies. I would sell it as is and certainly worth 4500. with the brass. GL!
