  1. I heard at Auction the 1931 Packard 840 had antifreeze in the oil not a bad ploy- if you want to buy a car on the cheap at auction- bring your own water! LOL
  2. I think Wayne Carini in Connecticut has a Davis, believe his has a 60hp Ford V-8 and he didnt sell it already? hard to believe!
  3. In contrast those plastic kayaks were, cold and simply lifeless. but probably keeping the business alive through profit- vs handmade canoes.........lol!
  4. saddle soap- that simple and inexpensive. Moisturizes and softens dried out leather. I better make friends with a bear hunter! Liawatha might be able to help you out with that.................
  5. Randy, having watched ebay since its inception, I see sales at around 40% on all of the classics that sell there. Not a great rate, but millions of viewers that is hard to find on any other venue. If I list 4 cars- I sell 1-2 and consider it a good platform, considering the low cost. and yes, when it doesnt sell the first time, it inevitably sells for less the 2nd time around. The exception is on something really rare and desirable. Sometimes the price can go higher, but doesnt happen often. Has to be a very desirable species.............
  6. another thought, prices are cheaper in Canada at the moment.............................
  7. as long as gas is cheap- this experiment will flop..................... GM is toast.
  8. wasnt referring to that- it is speculated that the metal on the Titanic wasnt heated properly and shattered like glass, upon impact..................... by the way, most Mercers are extinct. there are only about 140 left in pieces etc.
  9. they did have great metallurgy at the time That could be argued in the case of the Titanic sinking in 1912. The Roeblings might not have agreed.......................
  10. and by the way- while on this topic.............. a college nearby has an incubation center, for starting businesses. about 20 years ago, a business came up with freezing new engine blocks for race cars and such. the point is to go below 150 minus to rid the block of small fissures and defects, to produce a far stronger and durable block. the science works.
  11. I would buy another- put yours on the back burner and wait for a used engine to come along. really not worth the time and cost to recast a block. At least not for a 2 cyl Maxwell. Yes, I own a Maxwell 2 cyl. the larger model.
  12. send your weary, downtroddin and rhd my way- Ill takem all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. insightful history of the Bugatti and its maker. The man was a genius, with no education............. 25. includes shipping to the lower 48
  16. When I was 23, traveled through Europe and saw one. Was always fascinated with that 4 cly! Have had BMW's and was thinking, that would be a real fun bike to tool around on. so yes, will look for one..............
  17. well there may have been many cars, but there was only one flux capacitor..............

  19. well the Chrysler has been bid over 20k and still hasnt met reserve.............. on that note, we dont know that the seller isnt shilling the bid upward either.
  20. let me know before you send it to auction and pay the auction house 24% plus transport fees. When a fella passes, the last thing a widow is concerned with are the fees. they just want it gone. So good sense is not always in good order....................
