  1. You can buy the auction catalogs off of ebay. As for who bought the cars, I doubt that information exists or if it does I doubt its available.
  2. The first one you can clearly see the stickers on the ground. If the second one is volunteer parking that begs a different question. Call it whining if you want but the flea market is dying. It is sad to me and I'll admit most of it is not controllable but it is still an obvious fact.
  3. The Chocolate field has gotten really bad with RV and car parking. There are vendors actually selling in probably 50% or less of the spaces. Consolidation would be a good idea.
  4. That is a great car and I give you permission to capitalize the "C" in classic. I'm a big Pierce fan. There is a guy in Springfield Mass, John Cizlak at Classic Auto Restoration that has a bunch of Pierce parts.
  5. You might be able to get a older restoration L29 Coupe but the Chrysler CG with that body is going to be a lot more. The general rule of thumb I use on exact replicas is 25 cents on the dollar give or take. Note I'm saying EXACT replicas (i.e. original drive trains). This is something different and certainly harder to value. If it was an exact replica of a CG roadster then I would say the price is not totally crazy.
  6. I personally like the setback radiator. On the Mercedes 500k/540k the sportiest bodies got the setback radiator where everything was moved 5 inches backward on the chassis. Gave a very nice long look. The detail I dislike on this car is the position of the rear wheels in the well. Too far to the outside.
  7. Hard copy publication, newspaper, magazine or otherwise is a dying business. Hemmings was the bible for as long as I can remember. It is now 50% filler and an afterthought. It's sad in many cases but just the way things are going.
  8. Very nice. I assume that's Bob Bahre's collection?
  9. Bob, this is what I love about the HAMB. When guys with 3 posts start asking dumb questions they get roasted.
  10. What happens when your hand picked purchaser decides he needs to sell it and doesn't share your lofty ideals? See my previous comments about donating to a museum.
  11. Fair enough. But I still think you guys are too nice :-).
  12. Most of you guys are too nice. I can't tell you how many posts I see where someone goes to the absolute least amount of effort in describing whatever it is they want to know and 10 guys bend over backwards giving them every permutation of answer. This thread is a perfect example. If the OP of this thread took the 2 minutes to give a little more context to their question I would be a lot more open minded about it. To me, it just looks like trolling.
  13. Why do you guys let someone with 1 or 2 posts suck you in? There must be 20 threads on this floating around. I would suggest he uses the search function and he'll find plenty of information on the use of the words, Antique, Classic, antique, classic, etc...
  14. Would you be bummed when they offer it at auction to cover operations expenses? This happens quite a bit.
  15. I would give it to the first one that offered the money. To be specific to your question, I don't get too high and mighty about what other people do with their stuff. I see quite a bit of hand wringing in various forums that people "hide away" their cars or "hoard" them and how it's such a shame. I feel it's not really my business.
  16. That is truly a shame and I hope your friend makes a full recovery. However, it does illustrate why it's a laugh when people get high and mighty about installing belts in cars that were not designed for them. There are thousands of hours of engineering that goes into making a seatbelt lower your risk of injury in the vent of an accident. Simply bolting them into your car in the back yard could raise your risk of injury as much as lower it..

    32 REO for sale

Have you guys seen this one? REO Sport coupe Sport coupe 1932 for sale - PreWarCar.Com
  18. You are reading it correctly West. I never noticed the spelling before either. I think that "Sindelfinger" refers to the Sindelfinger body works which were in Sindelfingen. I've only seen Sindelfingen used with the "n" and not the "r".
  19. I've stayed there the last 10 years or so and really like it ...but... it's pricey and there is a 3 night minimum.
  20. Here is what the pre-war badge looks like on a 320 Cab A.
  21. For any of the factory bodies the coachbuilder is referred to as "Sindelfingen". You guys do realize this topic is 4 years old?
  22. Very nice indeed and a full classic based on the body. Wonder who the coachbuilder is, Erdmann and Rossi perhaps?
  23. Here is a cut and paste of my reply from the AACA thread: My personal opinion is that if a custom body was built by a professional entity on a then new pre-1948 chassis and that body was of a very high quality and expensive then I would be o.k. with it. I imagine that if each owner petitioned for inclusion of their car then they would probably be accepted. This is how it would work with a Darrin bodied ford chassis. Actually reviewing the pictures a little more thoroughly makes me think that 1/2 of them would stand a chance of being accepted.
