  1. ChaplainLar... My advise is to do a "Search" of "towing". The subject has been discussed at length on this forum over the years. You will find an enormous amount of useful information submitted by the AACA Forum members. --Click on "Search" within the header. --Left column, "all forums". --Right column, search word "towing". "In subject". Newer than "5 years", older than "1 month". Click on submit. As for renting a tow vehicle, a deceased friend of mine once rented a tow package equipped Chevy Silverado from United Rentals here in PA. Regards, PJH... <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  2. Way to go, Judy!!! <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> (I'll gladly reimburse West for the $ .41 stamp.)
  3. From what I recall since 9/11, it was plastered across all PA newspapers, radio stations, and, TV that the FOP & the PSP (PA State Police) campaigned for immediate clarity of PA Plates across-the-board. The law enforcement agencies cited the many "hard to read" vanity plates. (I can agree with one: The "Niagra" plate. Hard to read in stopped traffic, let alone highway speed.) I believe and concur that a quick decision was made Penndot. I also believe that many organizations (AACA included) had little time to due to the pressures of our law enforcement needs to make their job easier, not to mention Homeland Security pressures practically everywhere in our country. For the immediate, our police have plates they can read. Great!! Showing one of the new "Antique" plates is a small problem, in my opinion, when considering the overall scope of current events. PJH
  4. Hi, Russ...Welcome to the AACA Forum. Beside responses received by forum participants, I highly recommend the AACA Library & Research Center. The Library may be able to provide photos and specifications on the two cars. Click on "Library" in the right column of the home page, or... 717-534-2082 E-Mail: kmiller@aacalibrary.org 501 W. 5. Hi, Craig...hope all is well. I phoned the Clarion on Wednesday of this week. Lady put me on hold briefly, then, said I would be staying at the Clarion, no need to switch hotels. Special Events contact is Tony Shroud. I would still contact him during the week. NOTE: I BELIEVE THEY WILL BE RENOVATING A PORTION OF THE HOTEL WITH SOME ROOMS OPEN, SO, BEST BET IS TO CONTACT THEM. Regards, PJH
  6. Hi, Dick. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Jim I agree with you on the nit picin,I have a frend with a 78 mopar. Was his aunts car. Low milage, under 20, absolutly beutiful. Puts it in dpc class because he refuses to detail the engine. Engine is spotless, but paint is mostly gone. All the judges I know say he wont stand a chance for a first without painting the engine. Dont hardly seem fair. </div></div> I do not think it is a matter of what is "fair", rather, what does your friend desire or hope to attain? AACA's mission statement: "As the vehicle left the factory". It is solely up to your friend's goals: Judging, DPC, or, HPOF. The paint run that Jim mentioned is a manufacturing by-product of as it left the factory. (Corvette overspray, crayon marks/manufacturing process numbering on the firewall, etc.) An un-painted engine block does not fall under "as it left the factory", however, he could still enter it for Class Judging...his choice. 11. Long time forum participant Ron Flory of Hummelstown, PA passed away on Friday, March 30th. His forum sign-on name: randjflo60 Ron was an extremely knowledgeable car guy, especially concerning Chevrolets. He had two identical 1960 Chevrolet Impala Sport Sedans. Ron affectionately referred to them as "the twins". Additionally, he had a 1964 Allstate motorscooter. To Ron's credit, he worked very hard to form the Keystone Region of the VCCA based in Hummelstown. Ron served with dedication as the Region's Director. Ironically, in the March/April edition of the Antique Automobile Magazine is a wonderful Feature Car Member Portfolio article and photos of his wife Judy's Impala. This article certainly is a great tribute to one very dedicated person. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, April 4th at the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, 114 W. Main St., Hummelstown, PA. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Memorial service will be at 8:00 in the funeral home. Ron is survived by his wife Judy, daughter Heather, and, two sons Jason and Christopher. Other survivors are his sister Valerie and three grandchildren. Lost a great friend, Peter J. Heizmann (PJH)
  12. 7776...Welcome to the AACA Forum. In the right hand column of the Home Page, click on "Library". A full explanation of our services is a click away. PJH
  13. Hi, Mike. I would make one post and type in the best description of each emblem (Condition, etc.). Please do not make a "single post" for each item as it will innundate the forum. To do so would obscure a Buy/Sell post for a single item. List them as best you can... Regards, PJH
  14. Steve, (Clear from the start: These are "my personal" comments, "not the AACA's") To date, the AACA Forum will not be the venue for airing out complaints between Vendors & Customers. The reason is quite simple: Our club could stand to be included in any legal action instituted by one party, or, the other. Legal action could be with a "valued" club sponsor that provides financial backing to this forum, or, a "miriad of vendors...(Hershey alone has about 9-10,000 vendors)". Sitting here, I am thinking of a scenario: Suppose 500 people have a complaint about any one of 9-10,000 Hershey vendors. All of the complaints were aired-out on the AACA Forum. Law suits are filed. The way things are today, the AACA would be dragged into the proceedings as they provided the media for nasty posts. Again, the aforementioned is my "personal opinion". This AACA Forum is provided as a service to hobbyists, not a vehicle, or, media for complaints/compliments. My thoughts are that you could create a Website specifically dedicated to "Old Car Hobbyist" vendor satisfaction and rate them. At this point, I would give the AACA Management a chance to respond. Regards, PJH

  20. Thanks for posting, Steve. To those who watch the "Wheels on the Road" TV show on channel BCTV in the Reading, PA area, please, take note. Ralph is absolutely one great, down-to-earth "old car nut", of whom, never, never declined sharing his restoration knowledge with anyone that I know. He is deeply involved with the AACA Pottstown Region, the Boyertown Museum of Historical Vehicles, not to mention, a volunteer judge with the Concours 'd Elegance of the Eastern United States Burn Prevention Foundation. Many tout that we are a "family" when referring to the "old car hobby". Well, Ralph gave much to many. Now is the time to give back... My 2-cents... Peter J. Heizmann
  21. Pat...Welcome to the AACA Forum. I would highly recommend the AACA Library & Research Center. The Library retains an enormous amount of original specs for the Plymouth. 24. Rick, Turbopackman specifically requested that his "account" be cancelled completely. This deletes any posts he made, or, replies made to his posts.
  25. Hi, Rick. Turbopackman requested of me, and, in his terminology, that, his "account be cancelled", meaning, "Deleted (Banned) from the AACA Forum, to include "all posts". Turbopackman did not mention any specific reason, only, that this action be taken. FYI: When you notice "blanks" within the "Last Post column" and only a date, it will appear as soon as someone makes a post within any given thread. Peter J...
