  1. Have your cell, Steve. Thanks. As you mentioned, everyone have a safe trip. This will be a great time, especially at the Gilmore Museum. PJH
  2. Hi, Charlie...hope all is well. A fairly accurate time frame is I will be entering the PA Pike at Morgantown (Mile marker 298, or so Wayne Burgess understands, that is "yardstick #298) around 7:30 a.m. on Thursday. Sending you a PM with my cell number. Take care, PJH
  3. Matt and Craig...look forward to meeting up with you guys. Will be there with the TR6. I will be at the <span style="font-weight: bold">"AACA Family Table" </span> where one can find information on the services of <span style="font-weight: bold">"Your Library and Research Center, National Info, Museum, Membership, and, Youth Membership/Scholarships" </span>. Stop by at the table for updates, questions, concerns. Table is manned by Directors of all entities. Best regards, PJH.
  4. Hi, Charlie. I bought them from an RV Dealership in Shomakersville. All RV dealers that I have frequented carry the covers. Best, PJH
  5. Thank you for informing us, Steve. Sad to hear all this about a highly dedicated friend to all in our club. PJH
  6. Folks, a good friend observed that I had not supplied the following: --Nitrogen is offered at C.J. Tire Company here in S.E. PA. Have about 8 locations. $2.00 per tire. Check tire dealers in your area. Nitrogen is becoming more popular by the day. They put a "green" valve stem cap on to indicate Nitrogen. <span style="font-weight: bold">NOTE: They advise not mixing air with Nitrogen.</span> The tech guy I spoke with originally said a few pounds of air will not hurt anything, however, to mix 50-50, per sae, is not good as the air generates moisture. --Some examples: NASCAR and other racing venues use it. Also, the military. --I travel on average 1,000 miles per week. With air, I usually had to add a few pounds on a monthly basis. With Nitrogen, I have had the same constant pressure now for almost 5 months. --Tires run cooler and it increases tread life. --If you use various lube/oil change franchises, remember to tell them not to add air. Checking of the air is usually part of the service. Regards, PJH
  7. Hi, Terry. You have seen my 16' Southwest trailer. Have 13,461 miles on the Goodyear ST 205/75 R15 © tires (bought trailer new in 2002). TR-6 and Trailer weight: 5250 lbs. Absolutely no problems with the tires. "They show very little wear." My experience so far: --Inflated with Nitrogen at 65 p.s.i., which keeps heat down, reduces/eliminates air moisture which can rust rims internally, and, of utmost importance retains tire pressure for long periods to include static. My Dakota and wife's Pontiac are running on Nitrogen, too. Cost in my area: $2.00 per tire for Nitrogen. Spare tire is also are inflated with Nitrogen. --Rotate and balance trailer tires every 4,000 miles. (I doubt many think of this.) --Pay attention to greasing axles. (Replace grease in April of every year, check each tire for any foreign objects picked up on the road.) --Tire Covers (white colored): I affix them for any static trailer storage over 1 week to prevent U.V. and rim (rust) damage from rain and snow. Hope this helps, Regards, PJH...
  8. T...your advertisement to sell the house is in the Commercial Advertisement Forum. PJH
  9. quadfins... Take Pat's (ex98thdrill) suggestion. Within the immediate left column of this AACA Forum are the "very" valuable supporters that make this site possible. Your "quest" questions can be answered correctly to include safety, not to mention, you will support this AACA Forum. My 2-bits (with inflation, my 2-cents is history.) PJH... <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  10. That's the spirit, quadfins. Have a nice day. PJH... <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
  11. quadfins... Please stay your course. Matt McHinson answered your question very well and you responded correctly: Send your request to the attention of Hulon McCraw, VP of Class Judging with your issues based upon data you received on this forum and your opinions for improvement. By your own admission, you wanted to use the forum for input. In so many words, I feel you received it, and, "this forum will not address your concerns without sending your letter for proper consideration to the VP of Class Judging". I can attest that the officials of "Our AACA", past and present, take issues and suggestions seriously as I have found to be true. That being said, I have a question for you: "Have you clicked upon and read everything that this AACA Forum provides and/or offers?". There is so much more to the AACA "Mission Statement" than meet trophies. Your choice and I sincerely hope you become involved for the benefit of "future generations. If you or I go to the big meet in the sky tonight, what good is it if we have not educated the youth of today with what we "know" about any particular vehicle?" Again, take some time and scroll around this AACA Forum to see what we are all about...Judging, Library, Museum, Rummage Box, and, of utmost importance, "YOUTH". My 2-cents and sincerely, I respect you if your goals are solely generated to put your vehicle through the AACA Judging system for now. PJH... <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  12. ChaplainLar... My advise is to do a "Search" of "towing". The subject has been discussed at length on this forum over the years. You will find an enormous amount of useful information submitted by the AACA Forum members. --Click on "Search" within the header. --Left column, "all forums". --Right column, search word "towing". "In subject". Newer than "5 years", older than "1 month". Click on submit. As for renting a tow vehicle, a deceased friend of mine once rented a tow package equipped Chevy Silverado from United Rentals here in PA. Regards, PJH... <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  13. Way to go, Judy!!! <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> (I'll gladly reimburse West for the $ .41 stamp.)
  14. From what I recall since 9/11, it was plastered across all PA newspapers, radio stations, and, TV that the FOP & the PSP (PA State Police) campaigned for immediate clarity of PA Plates across-the-board. The law enforcement agencies cited the many "hard to read" vanity plates. (I can agree with one: The "Niagra" plate. Hard to read in stopped traffic, let alone highway speed.) I believe and concur that a quick decision was made Penndot. I also believe that many organizations (AACA included) had little time to due to the pressures of our law enforcement needs to make their job easier, not to mention Homeland Security pressures practically everywhere in our country. For the immediate, our police have plates they can read. Great!! Showing one of the new "Antique" plates is a small problem, in my opinion, when considering the overall scope of current events. PJH
  15. Hi, Russ...Welcome to the AACA Forum. Beside responses received by forum participants, I highly recommend the AACA Library & Research Center. The Library may be able to provide photos and specifications on the two cars. Click on "Library" in the right column of the home page, or... 717-534-2082 E-Mail: kmiller@aacalibrary.org 501 W. 16. Hi, Craig...hope all is well. I phoned the Clarion on Wednesday of this week. Lady put me on hold briefly, then, said I would be staying at the Clarion, no need to switch hotels. Special Events contact is Tony Shroud. I would still contact him during the week. NOTE: I BELIEVE THEY WILL BE RENOVATING A PORTION OF THE HOTEL WITH SOME ROOMS OPEN, SO, BEST BET IS TO CONTACT THEM. Regards, PJH
  17. Hi, Dick. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Jim I agree with you on the nit picin,I have a frend with a 78 mopar. Was his aunts car. Low milage, under 20, absolutly beutiful. Puts it in dpc class because he refuses to detail the engine. Engine is spotless, but paint is mostly gone. All the judges I know say he wont stand a chance for a first without painting the engine. Dont hardly seem fair. </div></div> I do not think it is a matter of what is "fair", rather, what does your friend desire or hope to attain? AACA's mission statement: "As the vehicle left the factory". It is solely up to your friend's goals: Judging, DPC, or, HPOF. The paint run that Jim mentioned is a manufacturing by-product of as it left the factory. (Corvette overspray, crayon marks/manufacturing process numbering on the firewall, etc.) An un-painted engine block does not fall under "as it left the factory", however, he could still enter it for Class Judging...his choice. Regards, PJH

  21. GrayRider...Welcome to the AACA Forum and Club. I will send Peter Gariepy an e-mail to take a look at your post. (Not my place to give his phone number) Regards, PJH... <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  22. Long time forum participant Ron Flory of Hummelstown, PA passed away on Friday, March 30th. His forum sign-on name: randjflo60 Ron was an extremely knowledgeable car guy, especially concerning Chevrolets. He had two identical 1960 Chevrolet Impala Sport Sedans. Ron affectionately referred to them as "the twins". Additionally, he had a 1964 Allstate motorscooter. To Ron's credit, he worked very hard to form the Keystone Region of the VCCA based in Hummelstown. Ron served with dedication as the Region's Director. Ironically, in the March/April edition of the Antique Automobile Magazine is a wonderful Feature Car Member Portfolio article and photos of his wife Judy's Impala. This article certainly is a great tribute to one very dedicated person. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, April 4th at the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, 114 W. Main St., Hummelstown, PA. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Memorial service will be at 8:00 in the funeral home. Ron is survived by his wife Judy, daughter Heather, and, two sons Jason and Christopher. Other survivors are his sister Valerie and three grandchildren. Lost a great friend, Peter J. Heizmann (PJH)
  23. 7776...Welcome to the AACA Forum. In the right hand column of the Home Page, click on "Library". A full explanation of our services is a click away. PJH
  24. Hi, Mike. I would make one post and type in the best description of each emblem (Condition, etc.). Please do not make a "single post" for each item as it will innundate the forum. To do so would obscure a Buy/Sell post for a single item. List them as best you can... Regards, PJH
