  1. Hello, folks. Just a quick note of very sincere gratitude for all the cards, prayers, and, good wishes. Yes, this Legionella Pneumonia (Legionnaires Disease) certainly is dangerous. There was a period of 9 days in the induced coma, of which, my wife Sharon had no way of knowing which way the good Lord was taking me. Well, I am throroughly convinced that the prayers and support of all within our AACA family had a big impact on my condition. As Steve and Fran mentioned, I returned home on Labor Day. Will be a slow process to regain my strentgth, however, I am inspired by all of you. Will keep you posted. Thank you, again for all your help and support. (Special thanks to L&RC Board members Marilyn Hunkins, Fran Shore, and, Sally Barnett for the support to my wife Sharon. She did not know which way to turn and the typical AACA family support certainly gave Sharon encouragement.) My best to all of you, Peter...
  2. Thank you for this post, Wayne. Must echo the comments about John. One great gentleman. What I most admired about John was his reserve and willingness to simply listen intently in discussion. His eyes always had a sincere smile. Had one of our patternmakers recreate a commutator housing out of broken pieces for John some years ago. (John dropped the original on his shop floor and it shattered. He was devastated.) Delivered it to his home one day. Will treasure the tour of his garages, vehicles, and, projects for the duration of my existence on this earth. Peter.

  7. Good idea to bring it up, Dick. Would serve as a reminder to all. My car was judged at 26 AACA Meets and in every case the interior judge would request permission to touch the car or ask that I open doors, etc. Regards, PJH
  8. Dick, What response did you receive from the Team Captain or other officials at Binghamton after you observed the stated scenario <span style="font-weight: bold">2 weeks </span>ago? Hopefully, you said something at the time so constructive criticism would have benefited the judge in question. On the other hand, did the vehicle owner possibly grant permisssion to the judge? Just curious. Regards, PJH
  9. Hi, Matt. That was me. Hope you folks had a good trip. PJH
  10. Hi, Charlie. Enjoyed the dinner conversation very much not to mention our "chance" meeting up along the way from PA. Congratulations for your receiving a much deserved 1st for the Rabbit. Lot of hard work certainly paid off for you. (Now we have to push your brother Chris to get his VW Bus up and running... Best regards, PJH
  11. Hi, Matt. Dave Lyon responded to me via e-mail echoing Charlie's post: "You should be able to get in the trailer lot after 7 pm." Regards, PJH
  12. Oh, no!!! Please, not Somerset again... Bob, I have been trying to forget that Sunday in 2004, now I have to rehash it. Thank you for being thoughtful. Hope I don't have to take you up on your offer to help. If I do, what's Patti making for dinner? PJH... (To the uninformed: I was trailering along the PA Turnpike from the 2004 Dublin, Ohio meet back to Reading, PA. Pulled into the Somerset Rest Area. Just finished driving over 3 miles of a very rough resurfacing zone. Lot of trailer/truck bouncing. When I was accelerating back onto the Pike, the drive shaft of my truck sheared off at the universal joint. Bob...just in case, what is the towing capacity of your Divco Milk Truck??
  13. Matt, Getting late tonight. Give us a chance to contact the Western Michigan/Kalamazoo Region hosts and one of us will respond to your query shortly. PJH
  14. Have your cell, Steve. Thanks. As you mentioned, everyone have a safe trip. This will be a great time, especially at the Gilmore Museum. PJH
  15. Hi, Charlie...hope all is well. A fairly accurate time frame is I will be entering the PA Pike at Morgantown (Mile marker 298, or so Wayne Burgess understands, that is "yardstick #298) around 7:30 a.m. on Thursday. Sending you a PM with my cell number. Take care, PJH
  16. Matt and Craig...look forward to meeting up with you guys. Will be there with the TR6. I will be at the <span style="font-weight: bold">"AACA Family Table" </span> where one can find information on the services of <span style="font-weight: bold">"Your Library and Research Center, National Info, Museum, Membership, and, Youth Membership/Scholarships" </span>. 17. Hi, Charlie. I bought them from an RV Dealership in Shomakersville. All RV dealers that I have frequented carry the covers. Best, PJH
  18. Thank you for informing us, Steve. Sad to hear all this about a highly dedicated friend to all in our club. PJH
  19. Folks, a good friend observed that I had not supplied the following: --Nitrogen is offered at C.J. Tire Company here in S.E. PA. Have about 8 locations. $2.00 per tire. Check tire dealers in your area. Nitrogen is becoming more popular by the day. They put a "green" valve stem cap on to indicate Nitrogen. <span style="font-weight: bold">NOTE: They advise not mixing air with Nitrogen.</span> The tech guy I spoke with originally said a few pounds of air will not hurt anything, however, to mix 50-50, per sae, is not good as the air generates moisture. --Some examples: NASCAR and other racing venues use it. Also, the military. --I travel on average 1,000 miles per week. With air, I usually had to add a few pounds on a monthly basis. With Nitrogen, I have had the same constant pressure now for almost 5 months. --Tires run cooler and it increases tread life. --If you use various lube/oil change franchises, remember to tell them not to add air. Checking of the air is usually part of the service. Regards, PJH
  20. Hi, Terry. You have seen my 16' Southwest trailer. Have 13,461 miles on the Goodyear ST 205/75 R15 © tires (bought trailer new in 2002). TR-6 and Trailer weight: 5250 lbs. Absolutely no problems with the tires. "They show very little wear." My experience so far: --Inflated with Nitrogen at 65 p.s.i., which keeps heat down, reduces/eliminates air moisture which can rust rims internally, and, of utmost importance retains tire pressure for long periods to include static. My Dakota and wife's Pontiac are running on Nitrogen, too. Cost in my area: $2.00 per tire for Nitrogen. Spare tire is also are inflated with Nitrogen. --Rotate and balance trailer tires every 4,000 miles. (I doubt many think of this.) --Pay attention to greasing axles. (Replace grease in April of every year, check each tire for any foreign objects picked up on the road.) --Tire Covers (white colored): I affix them for any static trailer storage over 1 week to prevent U.V. and rim (rust) damage from rain and snow. Hope this helps, Regards, PJH...
  21. T...your advertisement to sell the house is in the Commercial Advertisement Forum. PJH
  22. quadfins... Take Pat's (ex98thdrill) suggestion. Within the immediate left column of this AACA Forum are the "very" valuable supporters that make this site possible. Your "quest" questions can be answered correctly to include safety, not to mention, you will support this AACA Forum. My 2-bits (with inflation, my 2-cents is history.) PJH... <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  23. That's the spirit, quadfins. Have a nice day. PJH... <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
  24. quadfins... Please stay your course. Matt McHinson answered your question very well and you responded correctly: Send your request to the attention of Hulon McCraw, VP of Class Judging with your issues based upon data you received on this forum and your opinions for improvement. By your own admission, you wanted to use the forum for input. In so many words, I feel you received it, and, "this forum will not address your concerns without sending your letter for proper consideration to the VP of Class Judging". I can attest that the officials of "Our AACA", past and present, take issues and suggestions seriously as I have found to be true. That being said, I have a question for you: "Have you clicked upon and read everything that this AACA Forum provides and/or offers?". There is so much more to the AACA "Mission Statement" than meet trophies. Your choice and I sincerely hope you become involved for the benefit of "future generations. If you or I go to the big meet in the sky tonight, what good is it if we have not educated the youth of today with what we "know" about any particular vehicle?" Again, take some time and scroll around this AACA Forum to see what we are all about...Judging, Library, Museum, Rummage Box, and, of utmost importance, "YOUTH". My 2-cents and sincerely, I respect you if your goals are solely generated to put your vehicle through the AACA Judging system for now.
