Is documentation needed for the "barrel roll into your parking spot"? --Bob

West- I will cede to your analyses, you are able to micro-manage the photo I am not. Although I must look at the HAMB photo through aging eyes my same age mind clearly remembers many fine details of the '36 Buick. Now a study of the shadow under the top bow may reveal which direction the car was headed, the time of day the photo was taken, and what season the tree fell. The snaps on the side rails were exposed on all "as delivered from the factory" convertibles. Regards --Bob

I have owned several '36 Buicks of all series. Restored a couple to high standards and have made new oak headers for convertibles. I am quite positive that it is not a standard GM topping. It has to be a custom installation because the overhang on the top of the windshield is far to much forward than Buick built them. The header only protudes forward about one inch past the top of the windshield frame as delivered standard from Buick and has a definitive "vee" sweep from the windshield center to the vent window overhang. Before the topping mutes it somewhat the oak bow has a pronounced "widows peak" at the center that carries down into the die cast windshield divider. I feel this starts Harley Earls "waterfall" design. Again my observations and thanks to the HAMB for the posting. --Bob The top rail over the door glass also looks suspect. Buick covered the rails with topping and they did not show. Also the top had exposed snap buttons along this rail to stop wind flap.

Need help identifying GM colours on vintage heater and fan testing

I am quite sure it is a one speed motor when hooked direct to supply. Most such applications then used a combination varible rheostat/on/off switch under the dash to control the speed of the blower motor. MHO--Bob -
I have heard from this guy Matthew Hurdson, without a doubt he is an out of the country no good person with very poor business priorities, more commonly known as a crook!. " I know of car and will pay amount you asking, want for birthday gift for son." I have done international business with several people and the legit ones will have a conversation that is normal to a negotiating format. --Bob

1933 Continental Flyer Roadster; Tribute or travesty?
Seldenguy replied to Barry Wolk's topic in General Discussion
Sounds to me like the story the chairman told at the board table, after going thru a circle of managers and came back to the chairman, it was entirely reconstructed and misconstrued. ---Bob -
I agree with Grant. But why not only buy 4 radials and put them on the road and rotate them. They are going to rot out long before you will wear them out. My '36 Roadie had worn tread tires under the cover(you can't see them on a '36) and I never opened them. I drove the car for fifteen years with a spare in the trunk. My investment was considerably less than purchasing six tires. In my opinion your goal is very difficult to reach mainly because the radials on the road and in the trunk will not access your wheelwells. But then these are only my cheap thoughts, good luck in your quest. ---Bob

And of all places, it shows up in Barry's back yard.--Bob

A young fellow here in town had a baby blue Plymouth Fury with swivel bucket seats. I think this was in 1959 but could have been 1960. ---Bob Whoops! just realized you guys are GM. Sorry

Also when Ike was there you could buy a recognizable entry level car for around $2000 or less. Today that entry level cookie cutter will be close to $ 20,000.--Bob

No one steals any automotive design, just ask George B. Selden ???? As a matter of point the double drop frame was used in the 1911 Overland much prior to the time frame(he-he) of the twentys. And probably many others unknown to me. --Bob

Curti, Contact Eric Harrtz in Massachusetts. Either thru phone 987-264-2600 or on line at www.harrtz.com. He is a dedicated enthusist and very knowledgable about the hobby, plus his family has been in the top and fabric business for over 100 years. If he doesn't have it and it is available, he will know where. This should help you.---Bob

I have two friends that both have shops with "in floor" hot water heat. I have never been in a more comfortable, stable and uniform means of working than with them. Also the tools and equipment in their shops are at a stable temperature, no up and downs nor taking hours to warm every thing up. It is a pleasure to get on a creeper under a car there. One fires with wood and a back up natural gas, the other uses just gas. Of course they are super insulated. --Bob

It appears to have a rheostat attached, if it does than it will be for the heater. --Bob

To me cost is not an issue, nor is the small print, however the reduction of informative articles is my most annoyance! ---Bob

I do not know, but always suspected the one year was because of the factory applied sunburst pinstripe. As for '36 only?, I know '36s fit on '37s.--Bob

My wife and I were in Charleston SC a year ago visiting our granddaughter and husband and while in a store check out line I got to visiting with a local lady who was also in line. Recognizing my yankee accent in conversation she asked"let me hear you say "ya'll", I replied "yawl" and she said , you are accepted here. Real southern hospitality. --Bob -
Be sure of what you are looking at, there is a big difference in the cross section profile between 1/2 round and 1/2 OVAL. --Bob

Vinyl repair is there a proper way or material to use?
Seldenguy replied to auburnseeker's topic in General Discussion
Most all of the high end auto agencys that have there own or in house doll up shops have a transient vendor they call to come and make this type of repairs. The ones I have seen are of high quality. ---Bob -
There are thousands of accidents (?) a day in the world, but what amazes me is there are people behind the scene videotaping these occurences. --Bob
