2. As long as your car will be an every day driver, Use stripping tape for the red insert,
Some parts stores still carry the stipping tape, You might have to buy a couple of different widths, but a lot cheaper and easier than trying to paint in this stripe.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
 3. I recently came across an OLD starter, and have no way of identifying it. It is A REMY
(Not Delco-Remy) Model # 710-C. Seems to be in failry good shape Starter gear is free, and not rusty.
Appreciate and help to Identify.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
 4. A long long time ago in a world not as crowded and as fast, there use to be a thing called DIAGIONAL PARKING. The left front wheel always would hit the curb first and the car would bounce back, if pulled in too fast. In my town they still have some diagional parking in the downtown area, and I ususlly hit the curb with the right front wheel, no used to this .
Just think how many years the car was parked like this.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com

 8. Why not call Moog. I did this several years ago for springs for my Wildcat. They had a technical hot line a 800 number. I talked to an advisor for 20 minutes, he came up with a replacement spring of the correct height and weight load. Gave me a part number. Perfect fit.
You may have to hunt around for the phone number, but it's worth it.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
 9. Sounds like you may have a bad horn, or a bad connection. Pull off your existing wiring and clean the terminals, then try. If no improvement, disconnect both horns from wiring harness and run a jumper wire to each, to test for sound. You may have one bad or weak horn.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
 10. Would it be possible for you to make a copy of the instruction sheet and mail to me. I have the same manifold, less carbs and linkage. Will pay any cost incurred.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
 11. I forgot to mention that I have a set on my 66. What a difference, you can be heard a block away, and everyone will hear you.
No wimpy Beep, beep.
Jim Schilf
 12. Hi Greg
The 4 note horns were available for your car, from 1967 to 1970 they mounted on the front frame(68)behind the radiator, 1969 and 70 were mounted in the same area. Check your shop manual, pictures and monting areas are illustrated. The only difference is the angle of the mounting bracket, on both horns.
I have several of the longtrumpet horn at this time but don't have any of the sea shell
type( larger than the standard horn).
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
 13. I have your fule line.
Original type with the rubber end fitting, soft and flexible. Pricew is .$15.00 plus shipping.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com

 15. You made a good find on the 7" rims. These were special and for the Buick Station Wagons only, they will fit your car, and will be hard to find another. Many more trips back to the junk yard. I think they discontinued this rim in 1985 or 86.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
 16. Buick 215 Intake manifold gaskets, Original Buick part #3.270, 1164186. I only have a few, all are new. @ $15.00 + S&H.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
 17. Hi Gary
The chapter is planning a junk jard tour to tonica,,ill. April 7, I will keep a look out for your belts
Jim Schilf/ palbuick@aol.com
 18. I had a 3.07 in my 70 Wildcat, ran like a deer, off the line and top end over the Century mark. Best milage I got was 21 MPG
highway easy driving.
This lower gear will keep you from burning the tires off, but still leave a few of the pony cars sitting there.
Jim Schilf / palbuick
 19. I wish I had put the styrene foam down. The floor gets awful cold here in Northern Ill.
My floor is 30' X 80' and the cement masons
made cuts in floor 10'squares. some light cracking but in the cuts only in 4 1/2 years.
Another Item, are you going to do any work in garage?
I ran PVC plastic pipe around garage, for my air compressor, using 1 1/2 pipe. This was done after walls and roof were up, and no obstructions. Drop lines of 3/4 " at various points around garage, workbench, at doors for filling bike tires and lawnmower.
a lot cheaper and less condensation than steel pipe.
Jim Schilf / palbuick
 20. I had a new garage built 4 1/2 years ago, and had contractor put vapor barrier down before concrete floor was poured. A heavy plastic was laid down and concrete 4" poures over it. I don't get any condensation at all, I can leave sandblasted parts sit for months and don't get rusty, as long as doors aren't opened when humid outside.
Jim Schilf / palbuick
 21. This is the 350 motor.
Located in Rockford Ill.
Price is $450. And I can deliver up to 200 miles for expenses, will not ship.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
 22. They should also have the fuel line from the fuel pump to the carb, I have one made for my 40, which should be very close to any Straight 8 , 320 cu. the smaller motor may be a bit shorter.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
 23. I have done quite a few of the road wheels.
Using masking tape 2" wide and 1/2" wide tape works well. After masking all the chrome I found best to bead blast all old black paint off. Using a good primer and finallly a top coar of semi-gloss paint. You can leave the tape on during the complete process. I also do the back sides of the rims, bead blasting all scale and rust off and using a stainless or chrome type paint,
leave the turned edge of the rim alone if it has good chrome. Wheels should stay good for at least 2 years, unless driving in snow and salt. In the Buick service bullentins 1966 or 1967 there is a formula for the correct black color.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
 24. I would try several of the brake line specialist who advertis in Hemmings. I needed brake lines for my 40Buick, In Line tube did not have any specs for my 40 so I sent them all of the brake lines, 5 pcs, I requested them in stainless steel. A perfect fit on all lines, and since they didn't have samples they cut me a real discount price.
Sometimes a bit more expensive but well worth it.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
 25. I did my 40 convert like Bill did. jacked complete body and frame up, and then dropped the frame down. I made a wooden frame of 2x6. placed on either side of body, and when body was high enough I ran 2x6 across at 5 differen places for support, Under the area of the rear end I raised the frame work about 10 inches to support the back half of he body. I even put wheels on this wood frame, was that a blessing. I rolled the whole body outside of garage and was able to sandblast underside of body, keeping the messy sand out of the garage. With the body about 4' above the ground I was able to get underneath to sandblast, and later to paint the underside at one time. I did this by myself , no other help. What a blessing to be able to move the body around the garage.
If anybody is interested in the frame i made I can try to post pictures, made from all 2x6
and 4x4's. Which can be readily taken apart and used on other projects(honey do list).
