1. The 70 full size cars are a one year shot.
1969 is didderent as is the 71. I don't know about other GM vehicles, check a Hollanders
interchange.
If your alum drums are in good shape stay with them.
palbuick
  2. There is a vacumn distributor on the firewall just below the blower motor, I think it has four connections, each of the lines are color coded. Check your shop manual for routing. You might get lucky and find a broken line or one just came off fitting. Hard on the back but easy on the wallett.
palbuick
  3. A rare car especially if it is a GS.
I don't have figures but wait for Roberta to answer, if anyone she will have the numbers you are looking for.
Jim Schilf / palbuick
  4. Ending in one hour from now is a 1963 Buick
chassi manual, the high bid at this time is $103.50>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.
there were 16 bidders.
And the book is well used.
Have the buick prices caught up to the chev prices?
  5. I think the first on your list would be to find a shop that will do the trans, and do it right, then ask for a price to remove and install, and a price for bench work. Usually when a shop removes rebuilds and reinstalls a trans there is a warrante. Sometimes on bench work there is no warrantee.
good luck
Jim Schilf / palbuick

    Buick Red

    T-Keith, grisby
The palsti-cote in my opinion is as close to the buick red as any of the others. It is a good solid red, no orange or pinkisk color and has worked well for me. I tried the Krylon red but hard to get and didn't hold up good under the heat. It's like trying to match the Buick geeen, a lot of people selling it but everyones is a different shade.
Jim Schiolf / palbuick
  7. Scott forgot to mention that if you fill to the top you can blow out the seals, which means start all over again,,
Jim Schilf / palbuick

    Buick Red

I used the palsti-cote universal red on my engine and it has held up very good for 5 years I tried another brand first but did not hold up, would also stain from antifreeze.
Best bet is to try several brands and choose one.
JimSchilf / palbuick
  9. Yep 1966 was tle last year for the Nailhead, 401 or 425.
The 64 Riv was the first to have the 2 x 4 set up, the wildcat also had the same set-up.
Then there were the odd balls, I had one a 1964 LeSabre 4 dr Station wagon with the 401 and factory 2 x 4's. I have seen a couple of other wagons with the 2 x 4's.By far 1965 and 1966 were the most popular years for the 2x 4's. I have production figures fromBuick on the 66 Wildcat GS'S that only 7 were ordered from the factory with the 2 x 4'S, all the rest were dealer installed.
If I am wrong in any of this I'M sure Roberta will have correct figures and information.
JIm Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  10. About 6 years ago I was looking for springs for my 66 Wildcat. The car has a special springs for the GS Wildcat. I cant remember which MFG I called either Moog or TRW, called on their hot line for tech information and help. One of their tech advisors talked with me about 30 minutes, and came up with a replacement spring number
exact height, and dimensions. Ordered from local parts store, and price was about $90.00 for the pair.
Give it a try, this was an 800 number, so you cn't loose.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  11. Check with Bob's Automobilia, Box 2119, Atascadero, Ca. 93423, 805-434-2963. I know he has the visor brackets for the convt. coupe.
Do you have a 39 or 40 46C.
I have a 40 66C same basic body, big motor.
Anything else you need?
I have some extra 39- 40 parts, I need a water outlet (goose neck).
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  12. Dose your car have the Automatic Climate control, or the standard Climate control?
The Automatic has one lever on the control panel on the left side of the dash, and the Std climate control has two levers.
If you replaced the heater valve with the wrong valve you wont have any heat. Possibilities are ; bad heater valve or wrong valve, disconnected vacummn line or broken line, clogged heater core.
Check your shop manual for the vac. line routing.
Good luck
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
13. Depends:
Is 49 a dynaflow?
There is quite an outward difference between the two. The 49 has mounting pads on the side of the block, and the 40 block has a mount on the front end.
The 40 block will not accept a dynaflow trans without changing the crank.
49 parts are more easily found than 40 parts.
There probabily will be more answeres forthcoming.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  14. There was a 54 Special 2 dr HT listed on ebay
Starting price was $1.00. Looked real rough, no glass some(a lot of rust). Would make your day. Check it out
palbuick@aol.com
  15. If you can't or don't want to remove all trim and chrome your best bet is soda or media(plastic) blasting. I personall have not had any done but talked to several who have had this done, one person actuall drove car into shop, and had it media balsted, and drove it home, according to him. Might be expensive, but time saving. Think of the hours and expense of sand paper, chemical stripper, rubber gloves, and the clean up time, compared to the alternative cost.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com

My car still will get a gold award, with the radials and I feel a bit safer driving it, at
highway speeds.
