2. High Mike
Some of the parts books have an exploded view of the brake pedal assembly, I dont think the shop manual will have it. More than likely you are right about the bushing,
it is a brass round insert into the base of the pedal, if the brake is worn the clutck probably is also worn, lack of grease. Best to replace both at once, since you are taking one off take the other off also.
I will check my parts book to see if there is an picture, and post reply.
Jim Schlf / palbuick@aol.com
  3. I have the 1965 Dealer codes and price sheet,
all models from special to riviera.
Send me your mailing address and i will make copies for you
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  4. Did you try checking a Hollanders manual.
I believe they list the interchange by some casting numbers instead of original part numbers. I have identified many unk parts like this.
Jim Schilf /palbuick@aol.com
  5. If you can get a Eastwood catalog, they have a paint Argent silver, This is used on another GM product( cant get the name out, stuck in throat) Works great, and color is almost identical. I used it on my 66 Cat. for the grille and a few other areas.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  6. I did the same thing many years ago, had a 66
Skylark with a blown 300 motor. I found a 67
340 complet motor, hooked up to the 300 trans withoout any problems and fit perfectly
Didn't need a cam, or any Hi-performance parts or build up. I cheated and put the original 300 valve covers on, so motor would look original. Fooled a lot of Mustangs and chevells.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  7. Hi Bill
These ARE the only drums I have, The upper series is 12 " diam.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  8. Hi Guys & Gals
This question has been kicked around for some time, never found an answer, searching through service bulletins. Sometime around Jan 1966 this change took place. The first production cars had the script lettering. The later had the block lettering. If the car was a GS, it used the same GS emblens as the Skylark, on the rear Quarters and trunk lid, the front grille Grand Sport emblen is all by itself for that year. One of these days someone will come across change over date, thill then ??????????????.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com

  11. Why I chose Plasticote paint. When painting my 66 425 motor, I first used Krylon red. It held up good and kept its color, but two years later I had to change a thermostat and spilled some antifreeze on valley pan and block. It immediately stained the paint, water spots all over. I repainted the area with Plasticote Universal Red, perfect color match, later spilled antifreeze again but color held up, and didn't spot. Paint is still red and very little fading, with no peeling. With the hi-temp motor paint you should not have to use a primer, won't hurt to use primer.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com

    wiper posts

I haven't done this in years, but if you remove the radio and glove box you should be able to remove the transmission fairly easy, only one bolt holds bracket to trans, and a spring holds arms onto the wiper motor. Wiper on/off knob on dash will come off easy. No need to remove dash.
Good luck
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com

  24. Sorry no such Thing.
The Skylarks only had a Am, Am-Fm, radio. In 1972 the First Skylark AM-Fm Stero radio was introduced. Skylarks/Centurys in the late 70's might have had a Casette radio.
Jim Schilf /palbuick@aol.com
  25. I tried using miratic acid years ago, on some rusted parts. It will remove rust, also remove metal. It ate the rust away and some of the metal. I let parts set in solution too long. Mix with water about 3pts water to 1 acid, use a plastic bucket, for small parts. DO NOT USE INSIDE GARAGE OR HOUSE, the fumes will attack any metal finish and
ruin it, even tools. For a gas tank I suggest a good radiator shop, have it done professionaly.
Use only outdoors, wera a good mask or respirator, if you have any respioratory or
health disorders do not use.
palbuick@aol.com
