2. Jeff
Your right I have seen owners confront Judges
I have also judged. Most of the time you are
a volunteer judge with some knowledge of a class your judging. To have an owner jump in your face telling you how bad you are at judging, turns a lot of potential judges and knowledgable people away from judging. The judging sheets shoud be mailed to owners who request them 2 weeks after the show. Some people can't stand to loose.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
 3. You can also wrap the hammer head with a heavy bare copper wire leaving two long ends.
put one end to the positive and the other to the negative terminal of a 12 volt battery. Being careful to wear gloves and not get shocked. The more windings of wire around the hammer head the stronger the magnetic field. Works on screwdrivers great.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com

 5. I just found this hood ornament in an old box
of stuff I haven't opened in the last 10 years. I believe that it is a Packard Hood ornament of the 30's or 40's. There is quite a bit of pitting all over, but not real deep pitts, I havent found any cracks or broken areas. Appreciate any help identifying and establishing a value.
infopop Homepage
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
[ 07-10-2001: Message edited by: palbuick ]

 15. Are you speaking about your 72 Electra?
I don't think there is much you can do about it. Back in 1971-72-73 All the Buick Hoods B & C bodies, rusted some within 6 months after purchase. Buick had a service letter to all dealers, about the rusty hoods, and were to replace them, only if owners complained, never advertised as a recall. It was a design flaw. This was at the front of hood where it turned down. Try to find one from a western state, that isin't rusty yet, put it away, leave the old one on until ready for the new one.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com

 17. THE NAILHEAD
Some time last year there was this discussion on building a nailhead. Several DF
had articles on the build up of the nailhead. There was on in the April 1966 issue of Hot Rod magazine, and another article some time later. Basically on the 401-425, but should apply to all nailheads.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
 18. Suggestion.
Why not just buy the ready made stainless lines. Could be cheaper. If you check hemmings thee are several vendors who make the brake lines. If they don't have your model on file, they may even give a discount to copy your lines. They did this for my 40 Buick.
Kent Moore speciality tools also made a flaring tool kit, excellent for the double flares.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
 19. If it is a correct Buick tach, there should be one connection for the tach and a socket hole for the light. The electrical connector should have a red plastic insulator on the base cover.
This is known a a kneeknocker tach. on the early Buicks 1962 it was mounted on the consoel, 1963 through 1972 it was mounted in the consoel, There were some in 63-64 that were mounted on the dash, i believe in the far left corner on top of the dash. If your Buick is 1963 through 1972 the wire harness for the tach should be included in the dash harness, check your shop manual for wiring diagram
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com

 23. BDE, GALENA, ILL
For those who haven't been to Galena, ill before, you are in for a real treat. Make sure your clutches are in good order, the town is very hilly. The town is loaded with antique stores, and packed on the weekends.
If you can't get a room I know a lodge on the Miss. River that is just great, about 15 minutes out of town, good food, great views of river. I have a summer trailer on the river about 6 miles down the road from the lodge, I eat there when i don't feel like cooking. The lodge is Chestnut Mountain, a famous winter ski resort. There has been some construction on RT.20 between Freefort and Galena. But basically the road is quite a nice drive, single lane most of distance.
Going fishing this weekend, can give traffic report, if anyone interested.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
