1. Common problem. I had this with my 49 Super many years ago. Many hours of adjusting helped some, never got it right. Solution: I used a piece of old vinyl, After fulling the hood release on the side you want to open, the hood will pop up slightly, go to the opposite side of hood and slide the vinyl between the hood and fender where it rubs, and then open hood. Vinyl was just thick enough to prevent rubbing and saved paint for several years.
JIm Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  2. Hi Wardy
I found a plastic washer jar for the 64 , original, Has BUICK in raised letters, has top and inside hose and strainer. A bit yellow, as are most used jars. No cracks.
E-Mail me at palbuick@aol.com
  3. Thats how the Century got the HOT Rod name,
15 inch wheels made it go faster. The 39 & 40 Century wheels are the same, and very hard to find a good set.
JIm Schilf /palbuick
  4. Hi Bill
Found steering wheel for you 50, Black. No cracks, some light scratches whick can be rubbed out. Needs real good cleaning, been lying around garage for many years. Chrome will need good cleaning.
E-Mail me for price and picture .
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  5. I think there is one on E-Bay now.
Jim Schif / palbuick
  6. Hi Ward
I think you should get yourself a shop manual for your car. There you will find pictures of the washer bottle and the washer pump, which is part of the windshield wiper motor assembly, And the locations of each.
Washer bottles are $ 35.00 each, with label and cap, if you need bracket they are $ 10.00
plus shipping. I might have a used plastic washer jar, will have to see. The glass bottle held a concentrate washer fluid, the plastic jar held the mixture to squirt onto the windshield.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  7. There should be two, one plastic container for the washer fluid, and one triangular glass botle for the washer concentrate. I am not sure of the location of the plastic container, but the glass bottle should be in the front of the inner fender, opposite of the battery side, if you look closely you may see two small holes for the mounting backet screws, if no holes there will be two small dimples in the sheet metal, this is the location for the triangular glass bottle.
If you need a glass bottle I have a couple of dozen bottles with repro labels and repro caps, and brackets.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  8. Hi Bill
If you can wait a few days , I think i have an old 49-50-51 steering wheel in the garage. Last tiem i moved it it seemed to be in good shape not carcked. Did you see the horn ring on E-Bay, looked New.
If you get new plastic for the car you can install the same way, on new chrome you may want to heat with a hot air gun, as a hot flame may discolor the chrome, or the wifes hair drier.
Jim Schilf / palbuick
  9. Hi Bill
This worked for me seveal years ago. With a propane torch heat up the shaft, put it in a vise first, this should soften up the plastic knob and it will come off, the same method can be used to install the knob. A light heating will not hurt the chrome.
Jim Schilf / palbuick

    Hemmings

After being a faithful subscriber for almost 40 years, I finallly decided not to renew. The same as many others found, the parts were sold before I received subscription, or it was the same parts for several months. The prices were starting to get out of hand amd the average restorer was unable to afford that NOS part. I have a bunch of old Hemmings from the mid sizties, what a joy to read and see some of the prices, when it was still a hobby.
JIm Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  17. Check the mounting brackets on the floor board. Sometimes the Mfgs. would have predrilled the bracket for an extra adjustment, for extra leg room for customers.
You can always make an extension bracket.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  18. I have a pair of NEW Rear shocks for the 1941-1949 Oldsmobile, Part number 2105 F, these are for the L & R sides. I have had them for about 20 years and may be a little dry inside and neew new seals and gaskets.
$100. for the pair, plus S & H.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  19. Along with the parts book, you should look for the 1963 Buick Dealer service bulletins.
These are sometimes more informative than a shop manual, usually list factory Motor numbers, optional rear end gears , key codes, sometimes production codes, and production changes to some parts, and their part numbers, and a lot more.
They do pop up on E-Bay every once and a while.
Jim Schlf / palbuick@aol.com
  20. Hi Greg.
Still searching for this decal. I can't help nothing left from original 70. I do have one thing. I had a stamp made from the compressor. This is the round circle with the words OK BUICK. 90 0/0 of the cars out there don't have this stamp, and a decal would not look right. Easiest way check on an original car, all A/C compressors from factory had this stamp, including Chev Cad Pont, Olds.
Let me know how you do>
Jim Schilf / palbuick
  21. Try Gil Schwarz at buickgil@aol.com, he has a couple of parts cars
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  22. Mostly it depende on the year of the dispenser. The early ones of the 50's had the Buick Crest, some had just the word Buick, amd later ones had the trishield. The earlier ones are the higher priced ones NOS could bring up to $150.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  23. The last fullsize station wagon Buick made was 1964, and until 1970 Buick made only the Special/ skylark wagons. In 1970 the full size wagons returned along with the Skylark wagons.
There were two different motors for the wagons in 69. A 350 and a 400 Ci.
JIm Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  24. Someone wanted Vac.Switches for automatic door locks, I've looked and havent been able to locate your wanted ad.
I have the lock switches that go in the door, they fit from 1963 through 1967, this is a single switch. Has three fittings for the hoses. Perfect condition.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  25. Its not hard to get several different clubs to do a BOP meet. Between the three chapters here doing this meet, each chapter host the meet for two years in a row.Passing all information onto the next chapter. Has been most financially great for all chapters. We try to keep out the rif=rap, T-Shirts, NASCR,
toys and ladies crafs, Chev dealers. Nothing but B O P parts, some 40's mostly into the 60-70"s,
We usually get dealers from 4 - 5 surronding states, and several local dealers who never sell at any local meets.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
