  2. I used Enterprise Paints, Epoxy on my garage floor. Been down for 3 + years and no problems. Spilling thinner, paint remover and other fluids, I admit i'm sloppy, but nothing has affected the paint. Only problem don't drip POR-15, it dosen't come off. Preparation is a must, cleaning with Muradic acid is a must. Good luck Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  3. If you look in a Eastwood catalog they have several colors for wheels, mainly for that other brand of GM car. It is called Argent silver, they also have a Gray wheel paint. I think that these colors are close to what you need.\ Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com

There are plenty of these on E-Bay, reproduction manuals are about 19.95 Thisa manual covers BUICK, Pont.Olds. & Chevrolet, most models. Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  6. I have had the same wagon 1988 w/307 motor. This big wagon with the small motor can't get out of its own shadow. It was embarassing when a city bus could beat you across the intersection, from a dead stop. Best bet is to find the 403 Olds motor and install, as stated earlier. I am about to sell my wagon, has rust but interior is still excellent and is a loaded wagon even has sunroof. Good luck Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  7. Hot running Buick 1939 & 1940. I can't remember which year it is in , the fisher body manual, or the service bulletin book, there is a picture of a radiator fan shroud, to help with the engine cooling, Dave Corbin Now of Texas made one for his 39 LImited some time ago, and was quite happy with the results. Brain just kicked in , it is in the service bulletin book for 1940, under cooling. Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  8. There is one on E-Bay now, from a 1970 Estate wagon. Not a difficult change over. You use your old ring and pinion gears. After pulling the axels, remove center scetion, install your old ring gear on REBUILT posi unit and reinstall. Best to have someone set up gear mesh and berings. Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  9. I lost my regulator>>>.. I need left front vent window regulator for my 40 Buick, The 1939 and 1940 vent regulators are the same, need one in good condition. I have many used 40 Buick parts and some NOS parts to trade or buy outright. Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com

  12. No such luck.according to the parts book, the only years that will fit your 1959 401 is 1959 & 1960. The 65 exhaust manifolds will fit 1964 to 1966. They would probably fit but stock exhaust pipe would not, would need custom front pipe. Jim Schilf / palbnuick@aol.com
  13. I am about to purchase about 8 used gas tanks. All are Buick from 1949 through 1953, and used. These were found in a farmers old machine shed, and have been stored about 40 years. All tanks have fuel gage and are sealed with original gas caps. I have not been able to check inside yet, but outsides do have normal surface rust and some have a lot of undercaoating on them. Very few dents in tanks. Will have more information by end of week. Any questions or request please drop me an e-mail. Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  14. I can't identify your filters, i don't have my bools any more. I dohave one but it is an R-4 Purlator, and fits a late 20's Buick and several other cars. Mine is about 10" high and about 4 " diam. with 3 holes in the top. If yours are about the same they should be from the late 20'S or early 30"s. Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  15. Interested, do you have pictures you can send me? What about interior, chrome. Where is car located. Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  16. Your rotors only fit Buicks, 1967, 1968 & 1969, B & C series. I had a set last year and sold them for $400.00 . I havent seen any ohers around since. They are not interchangable with any other GM vehicles. 1970 rotors are different. Why not convert to standard drum brakes, at least you will be able to drive the car until you can locate rotors. JIm Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  17. Wrapping a chain around the block will only damage the oil pan and getting a good balance will be hard.. Use two head bolts, one at each end of the motor and on opposite sides of the head. be sure to tighten down the bolts after putting the chain or bracket onto the bolt, dont overtighten bolt. With the chain on top of the motor you can obtain a good balance point, and lift motor out in one try. Also be careful of the carburetor. If everything is disconnected from motor it should only take you 15-20 minutes to pull motor. Have you found the bolts at the rear of the trans. to disconnect the torque tube? Good luck Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  18. I have found that cars from certain area are plane janes, with very few options. In the farm lands, poorer areas, when someone ordered a new car the cost of the options were very expensive, and they just wanted transportation. In a junk yard in Nortern Wisconsin many years age Ifound a 70 Wildcat 2 dr ht. with a factory 3 speed on the column, not even a radio, parked next to it was an electra convt with steering & brakes & AM radio. Close in to the bigger cities you start finding cars with more options. My Wildcat came from Atlanta area, and has every option except 2 items. Usually the Wildcat were the lowest of all production models, Either you had it or didn't $$$$$$$$. Any one else have any ideas. Jim Schilf / palbuici@aol.com
  19. Looks like you have done your home work, before removing motor. The trans is connected to the torque tube by 5 or 6 bolts, remove these and the bolts to the rear trans mount. Don't forget the Temperature gage line, oil line and gas lines, the most important is the temperature gage line, which is in the head at the rear. You may want to plug the rear of the trans with a plug, so trans fluid dosen't leak all over the floor. Your lift should be adequite for the motor and trans. Just try to balance the motor before lifting. Remove valve cover and rocker arm shaft(less likely to danage) I have use head bolts front and rear to lift motors before, with a good chain or lifting device. You can do this by yourself going slowly, a helper is always good to have. Good luck Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  20. Just learned of a new Stephen Kings new book, 'From a Buick 8' Sounds like a good mystery story about a 54 Buick Roadmaster. Quote from book, There's a 1954 Buick parked in a shed behind a State Police barracks in rural Pennsylvania. If you open the door, you'er in ... another dimension. That is , if you don't just ... disappear. Sounds like a good book, can't wait until the movie. Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  21. Hi Howard I finally got to the garage and found the flywheel. It is for small series Buick and has a 10 in disc face. seems to be in real good condition, no broken teeth on ring gear, no signe of wear on the teeth. Face will have to be turned, only a few light age cracks, these should clear up after a turning. Price is $ 75.00 plus postage. Weight is between 35 and 40 lbs. write me if you have any questions Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  22. Hi I have such a monster lying in my garage. Will have to check condition A very heavy wheel. I will check face and ring gear for you and let you know in a couple of days. Any questions you can e-mail me at palbuick@aol.com Jim Schilf
  23. I would stay with the 66 401-425 heads. In 1966 the valve bosses were machined to accept a valve seal. This was the first year for this. Replacing with an earlier year would mean some machine shop work. JIm Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  24. Not too hard to remove. Best suggestion would be to have the quarts movement installed, I put a new clock in my 66 Wildcat and two years later it quit running. Several companies advertise in Hemmings for this installation. JIm Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
