  1. Hi Keith If your car didn't originally have the cornering lights, you will need a new or good used turn signal switch. This is the switch at the bottom of the steering column. There should be an extra 3 terminals for the cornering light harness to plug into, the wiring harness and the plug should be allready wired into your harness, probably tied up under dash to main harness. I went through this when my original switch went broken, on my 66 Cat. I had a very difficult time locating one because my car had tilt, an all together different switch. Good luck Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  2. I have a pair of front fender side stainless steel moldings for th 49-50 Lincoln. They are used BUT no dents gouges or bad scratches, they do have some shelf wear, nothing that can't be polished out. They have the mounting clips and both front and rear studs. Questions and pictures available. Price is $ 200.00 + S & H for the pair Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  3. What color ????????? I have a brown used one. Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  4. Hi John I have a friend who has several old Buick rims lying around in his shed. Most are the early fifties Buicks. Are your rims the standard rim 15 X 6? If I can ger you a pair, I can bring to flint, not crazy about shipping heavy stuff. What color do you want? Let me know. Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  5. Sorry Nothing for the 41s. Nothing on the grill at this time, The Co. making the 39 & 40 pans are quite busy and no play time. Trying to talk owners into doing the 1940 50/70 series pans, as I have a NOS one, for dimensions. JIm Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  6. Just got the first reproduction rear gravel shield for the 1940 Buick 40 & 60 series. This is the shield between the rear bumper and body, which most 40 Buicks are missing or badly rusted. When shown to an old 1940 Buick collector he thought they were NOS. The shields are a bit heavier metal then the originals. I plan to have the 1939 ,2 piece shields, and the 1940 shields at Flint, for sale. Both are excellent reproductions The 39 shields are priced at $ 185.00 and the 40 shields at $ 300.00 Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  7. Hi One hell of a job. Just finding the correct parts, and good parts. Some wiring harnesses are wired for cruise and some wern't. I was never able to find anyone to get my cruise working, and it was a factory option. I don't think it would be worth it to add on. Wiring harness, special speedometer, several relays, and brake pedal arm has a pin that releases the cruise, dont know if brake arm is standard or special. Most all parts are under dash, and a few under hood. Best way is to buy a complete parts car with cruise and go from there. Good luck Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  8. Be one the safe side, rent or borrow a spring compressor. You wil have to locate a compressor that fits inside of the spring, the new ones compress the spring on the outside and will not work. First remove the bolt from the center of the shock from inside the spring. Then compress the spring, if you have a hydraulic jack under the lower A arm, let the jack down slowly and the spring will fall out, no chance of it flying around and breaking something especially you. Good luck JIm Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  9. HI checking my parts bookl it list the "0" ring for all V 8 from 1953 thru 1966 as the same part number. And only one is used. I had same problem, but found it was the thermostat gasket. Sometimes a little silicone will help the instullation, and seal any leak. Good luck Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  10. Looks like it was just listed on e-bay. 1941 Century 2dr F.B. sed. Modified Straight 8. E bay # 2419132640
  11. It was quite common years ago to switch to 15" wheels , on the early buicks with original 16" rims and tires. Any 15" buick Rim from 1941 through 1955 would fit without any alteration(except removing the guide pin on drum). Even the 53 Skylark wire rims would fit on the 40. If you want to go back to the original 16" rims, make sure that you get the 1939-1940 rims only, as they were designed for the 39-40 hubcaps only. As for the brake drums , full them off and take to a good machine shop and let them measure the inside to see if they can be cut again. Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  12. More than likely the pump they sent you is from a 350 ci motor There are many parts that interchange between the 300, 340 and 350 motors The timing chain covers will fit all motors. Check with some of the Buick vendors, and get a correct pump. Gets a little expensive with the shipping. Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  13. I have never seen one with the Wildcat GS. Most all the lids had the Wildcat decal, with the tourque ratings on them or the later ones with the cubic inches. The only other one was the 2 X 4 chrome air cleaner lid with the Super Wildcat decal. Do you have any pictures to post? Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  14. I will have several of the reproduction rear gravel pans for the 1939 series 40-60, and the 1940 series 40-60. The 39 is a two piece like original and in an 18 gage steel. The 40 is a one piece like original, and also in 18 gage steel. I have looke a long time for a new original for my 40, no can find. All mounting brackets are welded on. All you will need to is prime and paint. Price is $ 185. for the 39's, the 40's should be about the same. If you are interested in these two items let me know, I will bring extras. Jim Schlf / palbuick@aol.com
  15. I know the picture you are talking about. The best way to determine if this is possible is to remove the dash pad and check the pictured area for a punch out. In the metal backing of the pad. You may also find a punch out for a electronic eye somewhere in front of steering wheel area. May look funny but if questioned about location just show location in the accessories folder. Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  16. HHi Keith II have several of the trumphet horns. There are several differend mounting brackets. I believe the early ones are all metal and later ones have the removable plastic. If you only need the plastic screw in part I have a couple. What year do you intend to use it for? Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  17. I would not build up your 37 motor, They have a babbit connecting rod, and might not hold up. Either convert to an insert bering or go to a 50-51-52 motor with the insert berings. The later Dynaflow motors had a highre compression over the std trans models, this was done with a thinner head gasket. The 1941 Dual carbs will fit most all small series motors. Finding someone to regrind the camshaft might be difficult. Wait for JT to jump in with more info. Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  18. Count me in. I am not bringing a car. Just a P/U filled with parts. Don't know where i will be located in swap meet. I always bring an extra chair. I get tired talking and have to sit down and rest. Bill I located several nos chrome clips for the front fender trim for the 50 - 70 series, write me if you need some. Jim Schilf /palbuick@aol.com
  19. Hi Dennis I just sold an 1988 Silverado. It had over 225 K miles, a new engine was installed by previous owner. Both cab lower corners were rusted badly, it was a local midwest vehicle. I drove it for over 3 years and it ran good, had a carb. engine, and 2 wheel drive. I have left over an original 2 volume parts book covering the CK models to 1988, and the replacement cab sheet metal corners. Hope this will help. Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  20. Try FAT MAN Fabrications 704-545--369, Located in Charlotte N.C. Has dropped kikt for many buicks. They have large catalog. Jim Schlf / palbuick@aol.com
  21. I think one end was a green and the othe other was black. Get real sneaky and ask someone on a Chebby site, don't tell them it is for a Buick, Pretty sure that all GM used the same set-up. I have some original, these are a spring type clamp, several colors , green red, black. Send size of hose and I can check. Jim Schilf / palbvuick@aol.com
  22. The 40-50 series transmissions were fairly weak, and would not take much abuse. There have been several adapters on e-bay Ford to Buick trans. These years Buick trans were a closed driveshaft, you would do better getting an Olds or cad trans which is an open driveshaft, and a lot better trans than the Buick 40-50 trans. Another idea is the 36-37 trans which is a floor shifter, try to locate a 60-70 trans, still an enclosed drive train. Good luck Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  23. Eastwood also has a complete tank coating kit. Several cleaners, de- rusters, and sealing compund. Not to hard to use and seemed to seal. The complete kit was $ 39.95 Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  24. Hi I am not familiar with Olds series, is your model an 8 cyl motor? I have a NOS Exhaust manifold, and a NOS Head for the 8cyl Olds. These fit 1942 through 1948. palbuick@aol.com
  25. Well as for the Iola swap meet, it was great years ago. There was brass era parts all over, 30's 60's pars everywhere, and Lots of NOS. I gave up on selling there several years ago, when the beanie babies and the nascar toys, repro bicycles, wagons etc. I havent attended Iola for 6 years, and dont't miss it. In my area , the Chicagoland area there is only on swap meet that is good, The BOP swap meet in March every year. No junk toys, T shirts, beanies NO Cheeby, No Ford. I am getting tired of Traveling, paying for expensive motels, or high admission prices. So I sit here and buy and sell. The wife calls me for dinner, don't have to go out in the cold or the heat. Meet a lot of nice people and make a few $$$. The only Swap meets that are excellent are those in conjunction with a National show. Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
