  1. hI jOHN The heater is NOT a 40. The 40 had a flat front. Possibly 37 -38 . 39 is different. All I have is a 40 heater. Jm Schlf palbuick@aol.com
  2. I really don't know . I found a dead rabbit and some paper flowers at bottom. I am about to open another trunk, a little bit bigger. 30 X 80 (Thats Feet) Jim Schlf \ palbuick@aol.com
  3. Well the trunk is EMPTY. Now to sell the trunk. Size is 36 1/2" wide X 17" deep X 19 1/2" high. Some paint peeling with light rust at one bottom corner, Both latches are working (no Keys) chrome stips not pitted or dented but would need to be replated. Leather handles on side. Really a deep trunk, held a lot of stuff. $ 180.00 plus shipping or pick up. Still have some parts not sold, Inquire about leftovers. If you are looking for Buick Parts I found another trunk filled with Buick parts Will start it on the BCA page soon, this is a BIGGER trunk, has a 1970 Electra rear quarter panel in it. Thanks to all who have viewed this listing, and have made purchases. With all this empty space I can start buying more parts, I hate to see an empty space. Jim Schilf palbuick@aol.com
  4. Hi Bill With these old cars it seems every time you turn around there is anothe problem. Mabye this is why most of us are a little dizzy. One possibility is the body mounts, wrong thickness, not torqued down enough or too much. Think about it as you tighten down one body mount the body shifts to adifferent angle, the next bolt you tighten down changes the angle again. this might sound horrible but loosen all the body mounts to the frame , hang the doors and then go back and tighten down the body to the frame, then you may have to adjust the doors again. Remember the body mounts are rubber, and compressing one harder than another will make something off. I learned about some of this from my 40 shop manual. Jim Schilf palbuick@aol.com
  5. Hi The Eastwood co. has a kit for blackening bolts and other brackets , that were originallly blackened at factory. I believe you can find the kit on line. Jim Schilf palbuick@aol.com

  7. Hi Trevor Sorry no radiator hose for your car, some 65's. The parts book calls for 44FFS spark plugs , you could use R44ffs (resistor) I thins i also have a set of 8 NEW Delco plugs, will check. Jim Schilf palbuci@aol.com
  8. Yep The 1964 was the only year that buick used the alum. heads on the 300 CI. For years this little motor was not a sought after motor, just like the 215 CI motor. In the last couple years they are beigng scooped up, the hor rod community finally discovered them. They were light, high Compression, and could be built fairlly helthy. Jim Schilf palbuick@aol.com
  9. I think I have a new Original hose for your car. Will check and get back to you in a day or so. Need anythng else? Jim Schilf palbuick@aol.com
  10. Hi Bill Just another part lazy mechanics never returned to car after servicing, replacing batter. Like the spark plug cover, timing hole covers,(have you ever seen one). The battery hold downs rusted easily from battery acid. Bob's Automobilia has the correct rubber bushings and the long battery bolts. Jim Schilf palbuick
  11. Hi Bill The heat shield you are refering to , dose it have top that sits on the oblong 6 V battery, and a hole at each end for long bolts to anchor battery down to battery plate. And the shield you were refering to would be the length of the battery. These were used from 1939 through 1950 or 52. Jim Schilf palbuick
  12. All Buick starters were Black. A rebuilt starter may be red or blue. I think your motor was red and someone painted the starter red, to match. Jim Schilf palbuick@aol.com
  13. Hi The Buick V 8 are quite different from other GM cars. The nailhead # 1 cylinder is on the Right side ( pass) The number one cylinder is always a little offset towards the front of the motor, where as the # 2 cylinder is set back (Opposite side) from the # 1 cyl. You will fing the firing order either on the intake manifold or the spark plug cover (1953-54-55-56 had the spark plug covers) As for the timing marks I am not sure. but someone will answer question. Never let the neighborhood Chebbby mechanic work on your motor, he will have # 1 cyl. firing on # 9 cyl. Jim Schilf palbuick@aol.com
  14. RARE; Only because I have it and you don't. The most hated word i see, usually I don't even view this item, as it is used by an Antique dealer who has no idea it it is a rare item or not. Second only to rare is NOS, One you missed is ALMOST MINT, OR ALMOST NEW. Quite often a sellers name may give an idea of who or what they are, also other items they are selling, will tell you about the seller. BUYER BEWARE Jim Schilf palbuick@aol.com
  15. Are you using a pad grinder disk or the hard wheel. The pad disc will take down the welds just as fast and leave the area a lot smoother, saving a lot of time. Don't worry about the hair on your hands, lots of other parts to worry about. Jim Schilf palbuick@aol.com
  16. Is this a 2 dr , 4 dr.? Looking for excellent front seat for 2 dr HT. also rear 1/4 round marker lights. What is code number of interior? Where are you located? Jim Schlf palbuick@aol.com
  17. Well I finallly got back into trunk. Found a couple of old rear view mirrors. The larger one I think is Model T or A, in good condition, glass is original, beveled but will need resilvering. The smaller mirror will need some work on the bracket tabs broken off, original beveled glass, will need resilvering. has a tag identifying as for 1929 Lincoln. $ 15.00 for the pair, plus shipping. Jim Schilf palbuick@aol.com
  18. Several pieces of carb. linkage marked for 1931 Dusenberg. All items are excellent condition, no rust.

    Trippe lights

I am not an expert on Trippe lts. The senior liights have a long tapered shape. The Juniors have a shorter tapered back side. I think the juniors were first used in the late 30's. Best i can do now Jim Schilf palbuick@aol.com
  20. Thanks Gary, and all others for any help. Have not acquired the car yet, still dickering over price. Jim Schilf palbuick@aol.com
  21. Its an easy replacement project. The nailhead intake manifolds were known for this. No sure of the diam. of the plug, measure it and go to local parts store, it is known as a freeze plug. Jim Schilf palbuick@aol.com
  22. I have several original spark plug covers for the Buick straight eight. 1936 to 1940 correct rounded top. Small series, @ $ 70.00 some small pitting. I have 1. 1941 to 1953 small series, very light pitting, @ $55.00 ea. have 3. 1936 to 1940 UPPER SERIES, EXCELLENT CONDITION @ $ 85.00, ONLY have 1. All covers have been glass beaded and have a light coat of stainless paint , just to keep them from attracting rust. Shiping USA should be $5.00 Jim Schilf palbuick@aol.com
  23. Hi Lamar. Never found any production numbers on this car. Sloan might be next try. Haven't been able to come to terms with owner yet. Wants top dollar for car. While I have your attention would you have an extra dash for a 54 Super or Roaddie with instruments, have aq friend with a big project and wants a 54 dash. Jim Schilf palbuick@aol.com
  24. Another trick would be to remove the rear wheels, set the drums on a dolly. This way you would not have to raise the body so high. I wish i had done this when removing the body from my 40. Also if you can remove the steering column, this will help make it easier. Good luck Jim Schilf palbuick
