  12. Hello Put your self on the assembly line of the GM palnt. Probably the last thing installed on the chassi would be the bed. The bed would be completely assembled, painted and then dropped onto the chassi. So all assembly bolts would have been painted along with the bed. Probably the only bolts not painted would be the final mounting bolts, bed to the chassi. Jim Schilf palbuick

  16. Some slack is OK, but with a broken tooth and slack in chain best thing to do is replace ALL, both gears and chain, at this time. Why take a chance putting it back together and having the chain or gear brake later, and having to tear it down again. Who knowes when it will go, 200 miles from home or 10 below. Jim Schilf palbuick

  22. Hi I did this with 49 Buick, when replacing the fresh air intake hose. If your car is a nice driver you can use a silicone sealer or adhesive, If you are restoring for show, take the old staples, push them through the material and flatten them down then use an adhesive to install. Will look just like original, and nobody will know (but us ). Jim Schilf palbuick

  24. Hi John The secret to wrinkle paint is. Using a color that will wrinkle correctly, any color. and then painting over this color with the correct color top coat. I have done this on several 63 Riv air cleaners, when I was unable to find correct red Wrinkle paint, used a black wrinkle as base and repainted with red, worked great. Will look for your oil cap today. Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
  25. Your were correct about the left hand threads on your Buick, I believe that Buick used left hand threads from 1961 until 63, pon all full size models. Try using a long breaker bar with a deep well socket to break loose, but gently. Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
