  1. Usually I can’t sit and read a book lol. But I do off an on read sections or sometimes cover to cover of the Haynes Repair Manuals for different cars. I used to read them all the time when I was a kid. Also have read the factory manual for my Beetle cover to cover too. Currently have been reading all the Classic Volkswagen magazines and the old Motor repair manuals. Pretty interesting stuff. I love when I find them at yard sales.
  2. Waited three months on parts for my classic Volkswagen. When I needed the parts earlier cause now I have no time to work on them. Might try tomorrow though since I’m off and getting paid for it lol.
  3. Doing it everyday I enjoy engine work best. And suspension and brake work. Anything else is ehh but I really enjoy it all just some more than others. To me anything electrical or diagnostic is boring as heck. I’m good at diagnosis but it’s boring I want to fix it I could care less about diagnosis lol. I want to use tools. But I diagnose and do the proper repair that’s what you have to do. Nothing is worse than dash work though that’s what makes me swear 😂.
  4. Little late to the party lol. No green classic cars here but I do have a green Ford Escape that is my daily. Just turned 190,000 a few weeks ago. I drive her daily 60 miles. 30 to work and 30 back. Need something a little more efficient on gas lol. Not sure why the photo posted sideways. 🙁
  5. Sorry for your loss. At least you have something to remember him by and it’s something really cool and unique which makes it even more special.
  6. Do tools count? Since I use them to fix cars daily with? Lol. I got lots of those for Christmas. No car parts or cars or anything though because I own 8 cars so nobody will get me another haha. I did get a sign from my parents that says my garage my rules. Thing is I don’t have a garage at home unfortunately so I’m going to hang it in my room somewhere.
  7. 10W-40 or 20W-50 would be my choice for that. For all my old stuff I use the Valvoline VR1 High Zinc Racing Oil.
  8. I have tons and tons of old factory repair manuals for different things and for my beetle. I also read older Motor repair manuals too. I also read Haynes and Chilton front to back. But what really helps me since I’m a hands on learner is actually doing it and using the manual as just a guide. Since I’m a mechanic I have access through work to most of the repair information from the factory but it only goes back to a certain year so for the really old stuff I use the good old paper manuals. And watch lots of YouTube too.
  9. In school I was always trained replace any hose clamp with the worm gear style because they are far superior. I agree with that completely and do it on everything. All the clamps on my beetle have been switched to modern worm gear style. Those pinch ones get on my nerves I can never pinch them without hurting myself. I know they make special tools for them but it’s just a hassle instead of using a nut driver to take off or tighten the worm gear style. Everyone at my shop discards those pinch style unless something in the repair manual says to use those.
  10. Nah sorry I’m young. Must be the youngest one here 😁.
  11. Awesome restoration project. I must say I’m jealous of that garage. All I have at home is a carport and gravel driveway. I’m restoring my classic beetle at the current moment then after that I have more projects 😆.
  12. That for sure is a great project and cool car.
  13. I’m a little to tall for one of those 😆
