  1. Price thoughts? This is the Unicorn of this year Roadmaster but is ANY 1996 Buick worth $17,000?
  2. 100% agree. That bumper end falling off is crazy. But here’s the rub - these projects while still out there are becoming really scarce. If a person waits for a better car or even a restored car for $30,000, they will be waiting a long time. They are gone. Of course not every one is gone but unless we start emphasizing that the cars we might restore from 70 or so years ago are essentially gone, then these will be rodded or continue unrestored.
  3. Interesting it has badging for both Chrysler AND Imperial on trunk. I never noticed that on this era Imperial. Chrysler always made a big deal about Imperial being a separate brand.
  4. Interesting find. Extremely rare. Requires a $100,000 type restoration. Olds guys will likely drool over this one but pass. Hot rodders may grab it. Last year for the desirable Sedanet body 1st year for V8 (modern). Nice Earl styling cues.
  5. Interior appears to be a vinyl replacement. No engine photos, not enough information to avoid a phone call. Persian Lime is a rare color. (Or whatever Cadillac called that color in that particular year). White interior is a plus even if vinyl. In my opinion, 70,000 miles can be high miles for 1971-1978 Eldorados. Judging from comments on the Cadillac LaSalle club forum and various ads I have followed over the years. We’ll start with no mention of AC status as usual. Likely needs $3000 in AC service. Front suspensions and drive axles need rebuilt by 70,000. Has the complicated scissor type convertible mechanism. And gets 8mpg requiring 91 octane fuel. $4.85 a gallon here in Iowa. It’s a nice car perhaps but all of these sellers want all the money for them. $17,000? During the height of the pandemic when I was home more these were in my searches and were $9,000 to $12,000, many presented much better and with less miles.
  6. It is a nearly perfect 60s convertible color and interior. We will probably never know what it sells for. It will likely be for sale for years on Facebook marketplace.

  8. I respect your viewpoint but it informs to the cost of fixing AC not so much that a convenience item is not working. Notice I did not mention anything about the drivers window not working. Probably 75% of Not Mine cars with AC “just need a little charge”. No - they need charged, pressurized and dye or soapy solution to start identifying the cause of the leak. Fewer shops are doing older AC repairs because it’s time intensive. And that is reflected in the few older cars getting “ice old air”. It’s a common answer why old car folks shift from non PS, non AC car’s to modern era (1954 on) cars that are easier to drive and tour. This seller did get back to me and said the AC has never worked for him and he bought it in 2005. He has never taken it in for diagnosis. The previous owner simply charged it as needed. Per the seller. It’s got a black interior and the AC and power window don’t work. I’m not hopping in it here in Iowa in August for a fun drive. It’s a very cool car - to me - but at nearly $13,000 it is overpriced in my opinion. To complete the repairs you can add $1,500 to $2,500 for - as you mentioned - a car with 101,000 miles when that meant high mileage. I owned and enjoyed a 76 Coupe deVille with 60,000 miles, purchased for $5,500 and sold for $3,000 in my divorce sale. I guess someone will buy this car but I hope they don’t spend $15,000 on it. (Cost plus repairs).
  9. I like it but am getting tired of hearing AC just needs a charge. That’s like saying all the oil leaks out of the motor or transmission but you just need to add oil/fluid. Fix it! Or at least get it correctly diagnosed so you can adjust price and inform the next owner.

  11. They are so rare few of us have seen one in person. If it speaks to you (meaning any collector not just you DEAC) then $18k is not out of line. I’ll bet it goes for $15k or so. Frankly, I find it curious it is offered in the regular marketplace. Typically, these rare cars are hand shake exchanged amongst the club members.
  12. Only time will tell. There are far less people doing restorations than there were 20-25 years ago when this car would have sold quicker - for $8,000. $15,000 is the new $8,000.
  13. Remember this is a forum where we analyze these cars. So I say $15,000 will likely get a sale. This is a barn find sort of car where it’s complete and a bit of a time capsule.
  14. Yeah that’s a puzzler. It has to be returned somewhere. I would think a person would have another modification at the gas tank.

  16. Lots of work just to get it loaded. Too bad. Isn’t this the 6 window hardtop? You would need 4 “roller” tires, mounted on rims just to get it loaded. And no title. And by the sounds of it, no seller help.
  17. Well, Captain Obvious notes the stupid exhause extensions. I do not know anybody that does that, yet we see it on these forums often. Dual exhaust is incorrect but if done reasonably well, will aid in gas mileage and modest engine performance.
  18. Going to look at this local to me 1992 Corvette convertible tomorrow. Although he asked as much as $22,000, I told him my offer would be $17,000.
