  1. When you have the engine out and the front end removed, the lineage that these have to horse-drawn carriages is really clear. Keep up the good work.
  2. He considered himself to be a better welder than he was a guitar player. The world is worse off after his passing. He was a great talent and seeme dto be a pretty genuinely good guy.,
  3. I like that color. The spare set that I have is called "fawn". Not nearly as nice of a color yours.
  4. My Lesabre is a 4 door as well. One thing you must also consider when ordering is whether it is a sedan or a coupe. The "post" model uses a different trim strip due to being shorter because of the presence of the door post. You have to specify, or you'll get the wrong piece. I know this from experience :(. Also, I wonder if the Electra has any commonality with Cadillacs. Maybe the longer door item could be sourced for a Cadillac 4 door?
  5. I saw the story Hagerty did about that car. It seemed like the Dad really wanted it kept in the family (evn though even he couldn't maintain it). It also seemed like the Son was way over his head and really didn't care much about it. I'm sure whoever buys it will preserve it.
  6. Nice looking car. I like that trim under the stainless Spear. It looks like chainmail.
  7. My 62 LeSabre is the same as an Impala (one of the few parts that interchange). Is an Electra door the same as a LeSabre door? Perhaps Cadillac?
  8. Could you discuss a little about what "hydrochrome" is? I'm not familiar with this process.
  9. Came across this during a search. Seems like a fair price for someone who needs it. I don't know what makes the McLaughlins unique mechanically. 1942 Mclaughlin-Buick Shop Manual Century Roadmaster 70 Special... (craigslist.org)
  10. Wow, thanks for mentioning that. I will definitely touch base with him. I found aa coy of his book online and bought it. I know some things will carryover. I'll stop sidelining the thread now Regards, Dan
  11. I didn't know there was a book like that. I wish there was something for 1942.
  12. I've noticed in some pictures the wires are cloth and in others, not. When did Buick stop using cloth covered wires?
  13. They're rebuilding them. They will reuse my trim pieces and install new vinyl over new door cards. You can buy new door cards for Impalas. I debated about trying to recover a set of then using original vinyl pieces. But most of my lower vinyl was either ripped up or replaced with the wrong stuff. What color is your interior?
  14. This is all very encouraging. I share my garage with my Wife and generally have to clear out when I'm done so that she can get her car back in. I spend a lot of time fiddling with jackstands. If this is as good as it seems to be, they look like a good buy.
  15. Those just look like they would tip over if you put any kind of side load on them.
  16. You can buy adhesive backed felt that can be pressed into the existing run channel. Bob's Automobilia sells it by the foot.
  17. Private group. Can't view the content.
  18. Collapsed lifter that oils up after the engine starts?
  19. I love stories like this. A bath and a coat of wax would probably make a huge difference. Got any interior pictures?
  20. That's great news. Have you done anything with the car yet, or were you waiting to get the title issue sorted out first?
  21. So, how did you route the wires differently from how you had them? What exactly did the guy tell you to do?
  22. Thanks to whoever moved this. I thought I'd add a picture as she sat before wrapping up the season. I found some 64' wheels in California that were pretty nice. I have the correct center caps too. But I'm afraid to leave them alone after seeing what it would cost to replace them. My door panels are at SMS getting redone. In the meantime I have some "Fawn" door panels on the car. SMS said "May of 2023". Fingers crossed. I know the car isn't 100% stock, but it is 99.9% Buick.
