  1. Very happy our local Ford plant (Richmond CA) was taken over by the park service. My little town (Petaluma CA) has three Historic Districts where you are not allowed to alter the exterior of your building without review. History is a tremendous asset to a community and needs to be safeguarded!
  2. I get a shown a lot of junk when I go to Goggle now, but I thought this was pretty cute: (Skip the ad at the end)
  3. Likely not a knowledgeable seller...probably close to 50% high, but certainly a fun car. https://medford.craigslist.org/cto/d/murphy-1917-vintage-chevy-door/7665684137.html 1917 Vintage Chevy 4 door convertible. Ok paint Upholstery needs freshened up Convertible framework is there but not the fabric Starts and runs... Come take a look! 541-660-7080
  4. Kind of depressing to even think about this as a project, but there does seem to be a lot of good parts. "A few trim pieces" could mean anything. The glass is the easy part (I've done it). https://redding.craigslist.org/cto/d/redding-1937-hudson-terraplane-project/7671485638.html Great project car overall solid! Few rust areas. Car rolls. Only thing missing is glass, “all flat”….and few trim pieces. Get it before gone! Contact Bill 530 nine five 3 6907
  5. Yes! Looks a nice example and in my opinion it's what the should sell for, but not at all what they do sell for.
  6. As someone who grew up in California before smog laws, I can tell you they have made a huge difference. Politically, California has voted twice to set goals for carbon output so that Genie isn't going back in the bottle. The survey seems to be mostly about evaporative emissions. These were a significant part of smog before everything from gas tanks to filling stations were sealed up. It's why a car built before 1968 emits more with the engine off than a modern one does driving at 65mph. I have a hard time imagining how a car from that period could be sealed up to their satisfaction...I was working on a 2001 Miata recently and it had 3 different circuits from the computer dealing with emissions from the gas tank. Lobbying at the State level is really our only hope! As Ed says, it's all about the money...industries wouldn't be spending millions on it every year if they didn't think it was worth it. Also; I do think some sort of mandatory mileage reporting is coming. The current method of funding highways is failing to keep up with costs and EVs will force a different solution. New cars know everything about you, and they can report it all to the government.
  7. True, but only measures that have passed cloture come to the floor for a vote. Harry Reid got rid of this for judicial appointments but it remains for legislation. "In 1975, the Senate reduced the number of votes required for cloture from two-thirds of senators voting to three-fifths of all senators duly chosen and sworn, or 60 of the current 100 senators. Today, filibusters remain a part of Senate practice, although only on legislation."
  8. I did once buy a car in a situation like that. I believe it was 1987, just as the collector market was starting to go crazy. Advertised as a "real AC Cobra drag car" for $10K in the used car flyer on the newsstand. I talked to the guy and it sounded legit, but he said he wasn't taking deposits, he said "first one with the money gets it". Contributing to the situation, I was newly single and had just received a surprise check for almost that amount. This was in a small town with one bank, and I knew the manager so he did the transfer for me over the phone. Silly purchase really...the car was built by a guy named Romeo Palamides, one of the founders of American Racing Wheels, and had an engine from an early Navy jet. but it was a real Cobra body. I sold it a few months later and got to say I once owned a Cobra (or at least part of one)
  9. So Lovely! That engine is everything great about the period. I looked up a quote reported by the late-great Beverly Rae Kimes; " One drives an Alfa, one is driven in a Rolls, and one give his mistress a Delage." Those were the days!
  10. Is SAN active in all states? It seems that the states are where the this push is coming from, rather than a national agency. Thanks for your work in this field...desperately needed.
  11. Here's a Swedish Ice Racer in 1955. Don't let it run over your foot!
  12. A very similar rotary "plow" is still used on the tracks over Donner Summit in the sierras when there is a heavy winter.
  13. This Forum is a great source on most things and I bet your question was answered by the above replies, but you should be aware for this site: https://www.mgexp.com/forum/ They are as committed as the folks here, but more focused. Leif
  14. I have a reprint of the 1897 Sears catalog. It's 786 pages and has everything you might need in life, from baby clothes to head stones.
  15. Actually, I remember reading an article in the mid 60's about busses in Switzerland that were powered by a flywheel that was charged at each stop!
  16. Many (most) of these never come up for a vote in the Senate. It's up to the leader (in this case Chuck Schumer). Also, if they do come up, it's often sort of a ceremonial vote because it takes 60 votes to pass, so the result is usually known ahead of time. It's easy to vote for or against something when you know your vote won't make a difference.
  17. If you were going to sell a car, wouldn't you at least uncover it? Geeez! 1923 Buick Model 55 Tourer, 6 cylinder. This was the top of the line tourer model for Buick in 1923. The wood body structure is in exceptional solid condition, which is big when it comes to these cars, the rest is downhill from there in a 1920s restoration, now all it needs is the mechanical, paint and interior. Has a rear mounted spare, trunk, engine and transmission were removed in 70s but I have both and I have a complete extra motor for it. Appears to be fairly complete with most everything there to complete a restoration. Serious buyers only, no tire kickers. I don't need to sell it, but I probably should, its currently just cave man art. My age and health make it so I no longer have the time for this project. Also posted is a picture of another 1923 Model 55 so you can see what it will look like finished. Don't ask if it's still available, Don't ask if you can pay for it in advance with Zelle or Venmo. No internet transactions. Cash upon pick up, no holds. 1st come 1st to arrive
  18. Old Washington Custom: The party that holds the house passes all sorts of stuff to show their "base" they are trying, knowing full well it won't go anywhere. Both parties do it.
  19. Makes you wonder what's missing. Is the last picture "before" or "after"? https://lasvegas.craigslist.org/cto/d/irvine-1919-ford-model-speedster/7665038328.html 1919 Ford Model T Speedster not running, yet "Calls Only" will not respond to text or email (949) 422-6213

  21. At first I thought "maybe if they painted the fenders black"...then I realized it didn't help! How about orange wheels with white walls?
  22. "Still has that "Toyota scent/smell" inside!" Probably leaking propane.
  23. No interior pictures! If the inside is in similar conditions to the outside, this would be a nice car at a good price. https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/d/fremont-1939-lasalle/7666823031.html 1939 LaSalle matching numbers rebuilt engine V8 runs great, body and paint great. $18,000 obo Vin# 229-5715 Garaged kept Call Dennis @ (510) 796-nine two 3 one
