  1. This is an old story...Porsche tried to get rid of dealers about 1980. Somehow they were surprised by the backlash and backed off. Several states have since passed laws that protect the dealer's position, I don't know how Tesla gets around them, but they do. I got a couple of customer surveys from Chevrolet a few months ago asking how much I'd be willing to pay as a subscription for things like heated seats. Terrible idea!
  2. "project" is putting it mildly, but there could be some usable parts here....Glad they warned we can't drive it home. https://inlandempire.craigslist.org/cto/d/buena-park-1930-buick-barn-find-project/7628285098.html Antique Buick 2 door restore project barn find from barstowInline 6 cylinder crank start currently not runningDriveline complete/brakes and everything still hooked upWooden wheelsLots of Original parts included new steering wheel 5 Whitehall tiresHave 4 doors that need to be cut and welded to fit cab Original pinkslip in hand matches frame numberWill need to be towed Serious buyers Email thx Rare barn find must sell (714) 657-4298
  3. So ture and all the more interesting when you read about all the troubles '32 Fords had when new.
  4. This would be an impressive car if it were restored, but looks like it needs everything. Saying you can get it running in a three day weekend is sort of like "just needs minor carburetor adjustment to make the rod knock go away." https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/d/gilroy-1932-chevrolet-window-coupe/7628204165.html SURVIVOR classic. Second owner good non-ops title. All original with five new Coker tires. Fantastic condition rubber roof insert. You’ll be able to get it running in a three-day weekend! Everything is here, was garaged and not driven in past ten years. Current owner no longer able to do minor mechanical maintenance. Seventeen thousand nine hundred ninety five dollars cash firm. 5. Those big wire wheels really look great. I understand straight line performance and top speed about what you'd expect for a pre-war design with a tiny engine, but it looks so great!
  6. Looks to be a good car for the price. https://reno.craigslist.org/cto/d/carson-city-1948-ford-super-delux-coupe/7627321355.html# Good running car. $10000.00 spent on running gear and engine. good tires good paint good interior new glass front and backnice car no dents. 84000 miles. needs little. 775 297 3779 Richard
  7. Still for sale at $24,900...probably at least $10K high...pride can be expensive. Current link: https://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/d/santa-rosa-1931-plymouth-pa-thrift/7627515261.html
  8. Looks really neat .... Lots more copy and pics in the ad. https://www.dragoneclassic.com/inventory/p/1915-white-model-thirty-roadster Offered here is a wonderful original example of a rare 1915 Model Thirty roadster that is fresh from a Pennsylvania estate of over 60 years. Upon our acquisition of the car we serviced it mechanically and most importantly we cleaned the fuel system and rebuilt the carburetor. It now runs and drives great. If you are looking for a high quality sporty early roadster to drive on tours and enjoy this car should be considered. Contact us today for more information. Alex Dragone (SALES): (203) 218-1903
  9. Looks like Farsi (language of Iran) to me....
  10. I sent a friend the video of crossing Donner Summit that was posted by Dandy Dave in the post about snow vehicles. He's from the Midwest and said it reminded him of this gentleman, who was a sort of a legend in his home town of Ortonville, MN; Alex Semrau. One fact about him that makes it all the more remarkable is that he lost both hands in a farm machinery accident just before WWII. Tribune photo published December 3, 1954 Touring the country in his 1908 Buick, Alex Semrau of Ortonville, Minn., takes advantage of reduced gasoline prices in Ames Thursday and stops to gas up. Semrau is heading for South Carolina and warmer climates this trip. On his travels, he has been in 36 states. His Buick has around 170,000 miles registered and some of its features are acetylene gas lamps for headlights, a four cylinder engine and complete air conditioning. This Buick is refueling at Hibbs Phillips "66" managed by Herbert Hibbs and located at Lincoln Way and Elm.
  11. As others have said; you never know what you'll find. Someone I don't know posted a video of some 8mm movie film shot just driving around the town where I grew up. It was pretty long but at one point they went past a building where a friend of mine worked and there was the car I owed in 1968!
  12. Wonderful video! I owned a business in the town just a few miles from this summit (Truckee CA) and once had 5 of my trucks stuck in the same ditch.
  13. I'm getting older now and might enjoy driving a special car, but in my 50 plus previous years in the hobby the joy was in the garage, not the street. Restoring (I'd say "fixing up" because my work isn't to a concours standard) a car like this can bring many hours of enjoyment (and several boxes of band-aids).
  14. My late father-in-law had a car phone similar to those pictured in the 60's, I had one in the 90's that was not very different; still a corded receiver that you held to your ear and appeared to be identical to what you might have had at home.
  15. Interesting that who ever put it back together would stop short of providing a drive shaft, which seems like it would be relatively easy to have fabricated....makes you wonder if there's another more hidden reason....
  16. Not mine but I wish it were....(maybe without the purple stripe) https://goldcountry.craigslist.org/cto/d/nevada-city-1927-stutz-aa-passenger/7624837559.html Offered is a rare and unusual 1927 Stutz model AA 5 passenger sedan. Freshly rebuilt amazing Stutz overhead cam straight 8 engine. Very solid body, usable original interior, older partial repaint. The engine is running, the car requires some re-assembly of drive train, the driveshaft is missing (but a new one can be made). Some minor parts require sourcing to make the car roadable, but the Stutz Club is a great resource. These are rare cars. Stutz built racing engines and for 1927 the car was very advanced, worm drive rear end allowed for a lower body giving the car a great look. Called the "Safety Stutz" the car has hydraulic brakes and wired glass safety glass in all windows (which amazingly is all intact). A very valuable car when made fully roadable, I have to move it along now. Call Chris for details at 530-400-0540. Clear CA title in my name.
  17. Upholstery fairly new, Its all original, hard to find, real cool car. 23000.00 OBO (707) 536-3189
  18. Actually garage find...needs a little excavation. https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/d/el-cerrito-1950-studebaker-classic-barn/7625927487.html 1950 Studebaker, classic barn find. 19. I've talked to the seller a couple times about other cars (he's got some interesting ones!) seems like a straight shooter. This T has been for sale for a while.
  20. I think I saw that car for sale some time ago. Correct that it's just a parade car now....
  21. I do love the center door body, and I bet that radiator surround would clean right up with a few hours of rubbing.
  22. That is really something and thanks for posting!!! Makes me wish for the engineer hat I had as a little kid.
  23. I have an acquaintance who complained that since he bought a Bentley, the valet parking kids expect a bigger tip. I imagine this car would be far worse! What a beauty! Much more in the listing. https://lbilimited.com/offerings/1925-rolls-royce-silver-ghost-piccadilly-roadster/ This particular example, Chassis # S100LK, is the last right-hand drive, 4-speed gearbox car manufactured in Springfield, MA, and began life with a Town Car body. It was purchased as such on April 14, 1925, by a W.H. Porter of New York City. He owned the car in its original configuration until 1934, when he gave it back to Rolls-Royce and had them swap the Town Car body for a Piccadilly Roadster body (#M588) from Chassis # S164JH that was owned by a Walter Reade of Deal, NJ. The body was also altered to resemble a Playboy, lowering the car and the now one-piece windshield, adding valances over the rear springs, and changing the wheels to 20-inch ones. In February of 1987, the leather upholstery on the doors was replaced with new leather. The engine and brakes received their first recorded rebuild that same month, with a total bill of just under $9,000. The exhaust, carburetor, and voltage regulator received the same treatment the following month, this time totaling over $3,000. New pistons were installed in May of 1995, and the blocks were bored +.040 in August of that same year. Fast forward to 2010, and the straight-six engine under the hood received a full rebuild, from top to bottom, totaling in at just under $4,800 and giving this British beast a new lease on life. info@lbilimited.com
  24. Interesting how the designers who are supposed to be creative all get on the same band wagon. We've just on through a period where almost every car has a gill like vent or intake low on each side of the grill. Here's this year (on top) vs. last year.
