  2. You really can see things in the UK that don't happen here and this is a great example. I remember a mostly Ferrari event at Laguna Seca about 20 years ago, but these days they are all locked away in air conditioned vaults. The UK also has an unbelievable pre-war hill climb series that draws hundreds of cars.
  3. I think the Cobra crowd has that category covered, although they have a very firm grip on which ones are "real" and which are "air cars". Unfortunately, if it weren't for the "replicas" or cars with complicated provenance many historic racing fields would be mighty slim.
  4. Looks like a sound example of a great car, but the price seems very high....(probably a little high even if it could run and drive). https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/d/san-jose-1938-cadillac-lasalle-coupe/7662867324.html 1938 Cadillac LaSalle coupe 15000 obo needs full restoration complete car original engine and transmission engine is not locked up Zero cancer only surface rust (408) 401-7169
  5. I'm not aware of a set service life on any catalytic converter! The whole concept of a chemical catalyst is it's not consumed in the reaction. Maybe if it were made by Lucas....
  6. In 1976 all the automakers were struggling to meet the new smog regulations. MG put this rather charming clock-work box in the middle of the speedometer cable which claims to track the useful life of the catalytic converter. I don't know of any other automaker who even considered this!
  7. I know there is an active club in Northern California, so if the price is right there will be some interest. I don't know where people come up with these silly prices! There's currently a Model T coupe, nice but nothing special, restored sometime years ago, offered on CL for $35,000. The only way it could be worth that much is if it was previously owned by Steve McQueen or Elvis! https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/d/hayward-1926-ford-model-coupe/7661811385.html
  8. More pictures would be good...also you should put it on the Chrysler buy/sell forum. Looks very nice and fairly priced.
  9. I'll try it. I probably better knock the corners off the chisel... aluminum is soft and although it will no doubt need a lot of filler anyway, I don't need scratches too. Thanks
  10. I need to remove lots of old paint from my '51 Simca 8. It's aluminum...what do you think is the best way? Thanks!
  11. If you want a car that has good parts support and an active club, MG is right in there with Model As and Ts.
  12. I liked it too! '33 has a high point in looks for many cars, this one among them. Wrong engine but not "ruined" with a small block or something. Sold by a flipper that knows nothing, maybe he'd make a decent deal....
  13. I think these cars were generally good reliable transportation, they just had that easily corrected design flaw.
  14. Siata made some very interesting and valuable cars in the 50's
  15. https://tampa.craigslist.org/psc/cto/d/lacoochee-1919-dodge-convertible/7659413724.html Looks like fun, but not $20K
  16. OK, wrong engine, but to doesn't appear too "ruined". Did REO use Continental? Were there any bad looking cars in 1933? It doesn't seem so! https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/d/stockton-1933-reo-3w-coupe-rumble-seat/7660940388.html Up for sell is a modified 1933 Reo 3 window coupe - engineswapped out for a GM 250 6 cylinder with auto transmission. Condition of engine and tranny unknown - car appears to have last been on the road 2005. Car is solid with some surface rustbit no cancer that I have found. It has a rumble seat that I have been unable to open - believe something is blocking the deck lid. The hood is currently off the car although the photos show it on.Please note that there is no pink for the car - bill of sell only. Car was purchased out of an estate where the prior owner had died - no perwork could be found. Total REO production, all models wasaround 3400 - fairly rare car even if modified. email: 4b233dd1d6fe363fb1c0d9a8092deada@sale.craigslist.org
  17. The Maxwell engine was revised by Chrysler in 1927 with better cooling of the exhaust ports. I've never seen one, but my sources say there was a "red head" option that had a higher compression ratio and a much better combustion chamber with more modern turbulent geometry. I drive a car with 2 wheel brakes...it's fine at the speeds it's capable of, you just need to pay attention! If you swap in that Jeep motor, you will suddenly become aware of the limitations of the chassis.
  18. With great parts and club support, you can't beat the "T" as an entry into our hobby! https://medford.craigslist.org/cto/d/kerby-1927-ford-model/7659603617.html Model Ts are really fun to drive. This one is ready for restoration, perfect project for hobbyist. Photos include when it was running and drivable and current condition - ready to restore. Has been in storage for a few years - just needs some attention and love to get put together and on the road again. Includes parts and materials to get the restoration underway. Can provide detailed information, or additional photos to interested buyers.Listing price: $4750 obo - Make an offer. (720) 378-8664
  19. I remember back about 1980 when the international rally championship had North American events, there was a Chevette with a Lotus twin cam engine. I bet it was quite a hand full on dirt or icy roads...can't be much weight in back.
  20. I don't think you actually could rest your arm there! It's a wonderful deco design that would be perfect in a living room but you are right, could be painful to pull yourself over.
  21. Looks like a very nice example. Price seems pretty unlikely to me but I'm not a fan of Airflows...as a Simca owner I am very aware that "very rare" does not equal "very valuable". Much more text and pics in ad...(possibly a record for the longest text!) https://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/cto/d/palos-verdes-peninsula-1934-desoto/7660279282.html This 1934 DeSoto Airflow Brougham Sedan offered for sale is one of only 4 Airflow Broughams known to exist. This rare Brougham has benefitted from a ground up restoration. The exterior was painted two-tone medium brown and light tan using metallic finish paint, which is appropriate given that Chrysler was one of the first to introduce metallic, or as they called it, polychromatic paint, in the mid-1930s. To complete the exterior, all the chrome was redone, and the undercarriage was finished appropriately. The interior was fitted with tan cloth and brown vinyl bolsters following the correct pattern and seams, and shows excellent workmanship. The engine was completely rebuilt and balanced in the last two years and starts easily and runs smoothly as it should. A new aluminum head was fabricated and installed. For enhanced reliability we’ve also added an electric fuel pump, as well as a 6-bladed fan to better cool the engine. The transmission was also serviced at the same time as the engine rebuild and shifts well, with the clutch functioning as intended. Auto Restorer magazine did a feature on our car a few years ago. email: 61666f4815b1360ab764d8fc4c2cd9b5@sale.craigslist.org
  22. Maybe all the accessories justify the price. I think we've seen this car before but searching didn't turn it up. https://ventura.craigslist.org/cto/d/santa-paula-1937-buick/7660328077.html 1937 Buick Special.Older frame off restoration.Engine and tran. rebuilt. All electrical in perfect condition.Interior perfect condition.PaintVery nice,Chrome good condition. The only.Upgrade is a new 12 Volt system with a powerful audio system (805) 208-4780
  23. Definitely a rare car today! I don't want it but I appreciate seeing it! "Chevy Chevette...it will drive you happy!
