  1. I think these mathematically adjusted old values are misleading...it's just such a different world today. These were expensive cars when they were new, but I looked it up and the average transaction price for a new vehicle today is around $47K. That's an AVERAGE price. In 1960, my parents sold our very modest house for $15,000. The formula used above says that would equate to about $151K today, but Zillow says the house worth $875K. Makes me glad I'm old, and don't have to deal with this stuff.
  2. I wonder how bad the parts you can't see are.....(more pics in ad) Seems like its been a hard 3 years. https://portland.craigslist.org/clk/cto/d/camas-1955-buick-century-convertible-v8/7708281793.html Selling my 1955 BUICK CENTURY CONVERTIBLE - Clean title - V8, Runs - Low miles on car and engine approximately 25,000 - Automatic Transmission - Convertible Top Works, Goes up and down. - Very straight body - Complete Interior - Driver's side rocker panel needs work. - Trunk panel will need to be replaced. - Electrical windows/seats work - Front Driver’s side Wheel Spindle needs to be replaced. - Great candidate for restore - A true collector! 3. Looks very nice from one side... (no engine or good interior pics!) https://medford.craigslist.org/cto/d/ashland-1967-cadillac-eldorado-coupe/7708307701.html 1967 Cadillac Eldorado Coupe. 2 Door hardtop. V8. Drives, but needs work. 4. I think this can be one of the most graceful body configurations, but I also imagine that it is a bit like all two doors and so takes an extra bending step or two on entry and exit. It does put the rear seat forward of the rear axel, and I wonder if that offered a benefit to the ride quality. I know Maurice Olley do a lot of experiments about this in the 20's and 30's. Any thoughts?
  5. Great story! Interesting to know that was going on in the neighborhood long ago. I was in that neighborhood for many decades on business and can report that, while it's far from the worst part of town, the availability of illicit substances (and services) has been pretty continuous!
  6. Really nice car! I'd be suspicious of that free delivery option. You send money, they send something that resembles paperwork, then..... The Dictator is such an opportunity for a teachable moment. In the late 20's when this model was named, dictator was a pretty new term, and people thought it was a sort of benevolent strong-man who could get things done and end chaos.
  7. I hadn't realized that the stock body was as plain as has been shown by Twisted Shifter. That means that the "wood" is just a two dimensional picture which probably looks almost cartoonish in real life but appears OK in a photo. Now I think if you saw this in person, it would be like so many stories you read about dating aps. Ech!
  8. 1953 Porsche 356/1500 Super "Pre-A" Coupe had a price of $4,284
  9. Was $10K then $8K, now $6K. They are getting serious! New ad: https://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/cto/d/san-diego-1927-franklin/7707614176.html new Email: 4e1ddc15dfab3d05ae0139897e949bdb@sale.craigslist.org
  10. Not original and the "wood" isn't the most convincing job, but a fun car for sure. Interesting that it's a wrap! 11. Looks original! (but I'm not a Buick guy) Seems like they already had a price reduction...previously posted? https://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/cto/d/santa-monica-1952-buick/7708110844.html All original Buick - actual barn find in very good condition condition. Not body-off restoration. Low mileage engine and transmission not rebuilt. Runs great (510) 418-5365
  13. I love this body style! I wonder if the placement of the rear seat closer to the middle of the chassis (as opposed to a sedan where you are right over the back axel) results in a better ride. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1932-cadillac-v12-town-coupe/
  14. VERY nice example of a an important car you rarely see today. Take it to the Cars and Coffee and leave it idling with the hood open...people love that exposed valve gear!
  15. This is the very end of Dodge 4 cylinder Dodges. Production of the 6 started in February 1928 and the 4 ceased on July 27. Dodge never had a "Red Head"...that was a Chrysler idea. I'm not up on the timing of chassis improvements, but I believe this is the last of the rear wheel brake cars too.
  16. I would worry that freeway speeds might make it whistle.
  17. I just noticed the license tag is 2019. Either off the road for years or old pictures...
  18. Same seller as the "'immaculate" '40 LaSalle posted recently... (more pics in ad but none of the engine) https://sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/d/pine-grove-1941-cadillac-touring-sedan/7706313705.html For sale is an immaculate 1941 Cadillac touring sedan. It sports a 346 cid flathead v8, and a hydromatic shiftless transmission. It has an older restoration, but it presents beautifully. The body is perfect, with minor scuffs as you would expect, but no dents or rust. The interior is near perfect, all gauges work, brights are good with no pitting. It also sports the addition of a visor and fender skirts. This car is a real head turner as it purrs down the road. It gives an amazingly smooth ride for it's age. Get in and drive away .Please contact me with any questions. No scams, no trades. All cash offers considered. (209) 217-6351
  19. Not much of a reduction...perhaps more to come? https://goldcountry.craigslist.org/cto/d/pine-grove-1940-cadillac-le-salle-coupe/7706799134.html (209) 217-6351
  20. If only the paint was "Normal" (more pics in ad) https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/d/walnut-creek-1948-dodge-sedan-24/7707170674.html Ruby" - This is a rare find in this great condition. 21. email only is pretty common, but often annoying as some people seem to check it weekly. I understand why they don't put in a number...sometimes you get 10 calls, 7 of which say they'll be right over to look, you stay home, and then they don't show. By the way it seem like a lot of collector cars have migrated to Facebook in other parts of the country, but that doesn't seem to be the case here on the West Coast. Parts yes, cars we're interested in, not so much.
  22. This is definitely "in there" for the worst ad ever, and as we know...it's a very competitive category! Kinda makes me want to get a wad of cash, a shaggy wig and a save the whales tee shirt and go see him....
