  1. Really an amazing result, especially if you consider "by the pound"! $79,800 https://www.hemmings.com/stories/record-setting-isetta/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=EDaily&utm_campaign=2024-03-03&uemlid=5c52623cdf01c39cebf1f9966b2e8670a226918da0306e2d4b2032cdc6ca47ec There are a lot of niches in the car hobby we don't concern ourselves with. Microcars, Japanese cars and Military vehicles are three examples. I don't want to own any (I had a neighbor with 31 Military vehicles) but I do find it interesting.
  2. I tried calling...it went to voice mail with an automated response. Big different between '28 and '32...two more cylinders!
  3. Plastic Thompson submachinegun in the back seat would be more era correct.
  4. I read somewhere that a horsepower was based on the amount of work the horses did in their circular walks, which was much less than they were capable of at full throttle.

  7. A very nice example but I don't think these Chevys get a premium over a Model A, which would make this about $10K high... https://losangeles.craigslist.org/sgv/cto/d/palmdale-1931-chevy-independence-coupe/7722368654.html 1931 CHEVY INDEPENDENCE COUPE ALL ORIGINAL - RUNS & DRIVES GREAT! 10. I also read it and he was way off base on lots of stuff, but his point was that car makers didn't pay much attention to safety. Knobs on the dash that would open your face, a steering column that was a spear pointed at your chest...all the things we love about old cars! There definitely were cars with dodgy suspension, but it was more in the execution that the design. The 356 Porsche had swing axels, as did the Triumph Spitfire and the early Corvair. Some worked, some didn't. One not well understood point; he didn't kill the Corvair, the Mustang did.
  11. I believe this is the same car advertised in October for $50K so they are moving the right direction... 14. I believe those were developed by John Fitch, who raced for Mercedes in the 50's
  15. I was searching for something else and found a small article about water bumpers. They came out in the late sixties and as you would guess, were bumpers that were filled with water and they absorbed an pretty good impact with no damage to the vehicle. Here's a Wagoneer hitting another car at 20mph: And here's a guy filling them up...on the down side, they were heavy and ugly! Unlike toilet paper oil filters, it doesn't seem like any of these survived...
  16. These have lots of style! I could live with the trans swap...just the more modern solution to overdrive. 18. I have a friend who had a couple of Grey Market Benzes form this vintage. They were mostly will used (+50K miles) but he got several years of mostly trouble free motoring from them and no issues with parts. This seems like a very nice car, and the Euro look is really a lot better!
  19. What a mess! This is just the situation most of us are trying to avoid!
  20. At one point in the 90s, I operated an Auto Glass distribution warehouse that had been around for years. Checking the inventory I discovered a windshield for both an Isabella and a Goliath (same manufacturer). I tracked down someone who had one and sold them to him cheap. Otherwise they were headed for the crusher.
  21. Looks very nice, but $70K? What do the Buick Boys say?
