  1. I haven't used this product, I was just fascinated by the video. Since it's basically a paint, I would expect paint-like durability. Actual chrome is a very hard metal, so they aren't going to be the same. I'd like to hear about people's experiences with this or other (Hydro-chrome?) methods.
  2. Great example of "relative color". Your perception is influenced by adjacent colors. It's hard to overcome that Orange!
  3. Some times the rattle can is an acceptable solution, and I recently bought some truly "two part" paint from Samurai. It's very good! Eastwood has some similar products but they don't offer colors anymore, and the Samurai is about half the cost. In the packaging for my recent shipment was an ad for their "MirrorTek" product. It looks pretty complex, but with chrome getting more difficult to source and more expensive, it might be an option in some cases. https://samurai2kaerosol.com/mirrortek/ https://samurai2kpaint.com/
  4. I've used https://www.pirateship.com/ in the past with good results, also FedEx Freight. Freight prices are crazy and it makes big difference on the class of freight if you are going LTL (auto parts being some of the most expensive).
  5. Do you suppose who ever bought it last June got tired of the comments every time he showed it? I certainly would.
  6. I believe this has been for sale for quite a while. These are interesting cars and the later versions are quite nice. Maybe, possibly, if this car was a really wonderful restoration it would be worth $34K to the one collector in a thousand that would be interested, but I think this seller would be really fortunate to get 10% of that out of this.
  7. Much discussed last time (less than a year ago)... apparently after buying it for $122K, it wasn't so easy to live with! https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1934-packard-twelve-club-sedan/
  8. For those wishing a vintage experience with a little more comfort, this car has the same horsepower as a Model A, but is quite a bit more comfortable. Seller seems pretty clueless...there is no "ignition" and it's a 4 speed. If the injection pump is stuck, that's BIG BUCKS. Maybe the solution is a Model A motor! https://roseburg.craigslist.org/cto/d/wilbur-1952-mercedes-180d/7750628369.html Was running and driving daily until 2 years ago. Body is in excellent shape. Good patina but no major rust. Needs carpet and upholstery all seats are here. All glass good. Will run but ignition is stuck. All trim except passenger door piece in great shape. 3 speed column shift. Clean title. $3000 obo (541) 580-0489
  9. Makes me think of the people who pay thousands of dollars to have themselves frozen after they die in the hope that future technology will allow them to be thawed and cured. Given economic trends, not much hope for them or this V-16, but at least it could me cleaned up and put on display.
  10. Apparently these were available as either gas or electric. Certainly would be a good candidate for Cars and Coffee! Interior is a little rough!
  11. Exactly so! This one has a stroke twice the size of the bore. Long crank throws require a lot of room on the bottom end and a tall deck, so they become big lumps of cast iron with surprisingly small capacity! I believe the tax code changed in the 50's, but many designs carried over.
  12. No idea how correct the restoration was, but you'd be the only Standard where ever you went! I wasn't able to find horsepower data, but the engine is a very long stroke flathead that's only about 1300 cc's. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1006080847903026/?ref=category_feed&referral_code=undefined&referral_story_type=listing&tracking={"qid"%3A"-1953163659464228685"%2C"mf_story_key"%3A"7438722406207764"%2C"commerce_rank_obj"%3A"{\"target_id\"%3A7438722406207764%2C\"target_type\"%3A0%2C\"primary_position\"%3A8%2C\"ranking_signature\"%3A7750666788223142420%2C\"commerce_channel\"%3A504%2C\"value\"%3A0.00016957267099653%2C\"candidate_retrieval_source_map\"%3A{\"7438722406207764\"%3A111}}"} I’m selling this 1928 standard for my father. He bought the car in 1994. The person he bought it from restored it from the ground up. It’s been in storage for 30 years now my dad wants to get rid of things. It’s in great shape. Standard motor company bought Triumph. This is in English car and I don’t know much about it. Extremely rare. Message me with any questions. JUST GOT IT RUNNING AFTER 30 YEAR!!! Now it’s up and running if you want to come see it. Our mechanic did miracles and now it’s alive.
  13. What is laner Lenil? My Spanish is limited but Google didn't know this one either. Here's the car:
  14. This makes me think about how hard it is to restore anything and come out financially these days. I have a buddy who has a very similar car, in much better condition that his late wife bought when it was two years old. Now it's got 98,000 miles and the engine is tired. My friend is very "thrifty" so he really shopped, looking for a good place to have it rebuilt. I believe he spoke to five or six places. They were all seven to eight thousand, and most wanted you to pull the engine and bring it to them, and they all had waiting lists. You start adding up paint and upholstery, and knowing that little is ever cheaper than you think it will be, and a car like this only makes sense if you figure it as long term entertainment. Fortunately, nobody ever said the car hobby was rational.
  15. Looks nice, I don't know about the price....(more pics in ad) Is "runs like a sewing machine" a good thing? https://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/ctd/d/finley-1934-ford-phaeton-restored/7748959767.html Award winning show car. Original flathead V8 that runs like a sewing machine. Beautiful restoration on a solid California car. Comes complete with matching canvas side curtains. 16. It's amazing to me how tires made long ago seem to hold up so much better than the current ones over time. Of course, I can think of a few other products (major appliances!) that have a similar story.
  17. Seems like a fair price... More pics in ad... https://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/d/novato-1939-mercury-town-car/7749266995.html Restored in 1988. Needs to be restored again. Needs master cylinder and new front brakes. I replace rear brakes a couple of months ago. Clutch is starting to slip. This was an early production mercury that had rare hubcaps that said Ford mercury. Google 1939 Ford mercury hubcaps. Own since 1986 picked up a lot of parts over the years. Has YOM license plates, $4000 as is for a quick sale. (415) 827-1962
  18. Some cars don't really have a point where they are beyond restoration. It seems like if you have some sort of link to significant history that would make a title possible, you might be able to "restore" a partial frame rail.
  19. Likely the same car poster a year ago January. The pictures don't come up anymore, so I can't be sure. Maybe they are serious about selling now, or maybe not. The ad copy has not improved.... Here's the old link: And the new one: (more pics in ad..I couldn't copy them for some reason) https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/ctd/d/vallejo-1951-buick-deluxe-all-original/7748306293.html Real good shape for being original runs good .is a inline 8 fireball transmission its a real beautiful car .I hate to get rid of it but I need to sell due to moving and don't have space.i have original price tag also ur welcome to come check out just send me a email .thank u email: 9f39bbce80083f0abcccc6659974ebdf@sale.craigslist.org
  20. I certainly understand your perspective, but from a business point of view, you just have to look at Craigslist see that "Restomod" takes in a lot of people who care about "classic" cars.
  21. I believe the valve cover started in '25. The differentials could be weak, I don't know because they axels always break first!
  22. I have always like the '30 Buicks...still beam axel 6's. This would be quite a project!
