  1. You are 100% correct. I was neglectful by not protecting the finish. I don’t think it is too late. In my former life I was a skilled brain surgeon and had a steady hand. It could very well be I’m losing my touch.
  2. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The vehicle is someone’s creation. You might be annoyed if someone called an automobile of yours butchery. If you cannot say something nice, do not say anything at all. Turbinator
  3. Could be an emblem for a horn cap for a 64-66 Buick Wood Steering wheel? Just position the 2 3/4” R emblem correctly in the cap with right backing and clips and Bada Bing a cheap horn cap ready to go. Some basic craft skills will get anyone a nice horn cap. Or you could buy a really good repro horn cap with shiny TIG welded 304 Stainless Steel Horn bar from Turbinator. Such a deal!
  4. Pat, I should know my audience better. Yes, I did mean Buick Roadwheels. Some of the other folks do not Buick Roadwheels are the real name for “ Rallye” wheels. My preference is say and write wheels as opposed to rims. I always thought the rim was part of the automobile wheel. But, if rim is synonymous with wheel in automobile circles I can learn.
  5. Bill, if it is any help I’ve never seen an original Riviera emblem with the adhesive backing. My interest in emblems is a small window of time 63-66 Riviera and Buick wood steering wheel emblems. So, I guess for me not to recognize the emblem in question is not a surprise to me. Although, I’m a very interested I can’t ID the emblem right now.
  6. Pat, I was guessing in hopes of giving Bill a starting point to investigate. Currently, I’m on a family business mission. My internet connectivity is wonky regarding searches. I can say without hesitation Buick did a good job for making many ( if not all ) of the Buick Riviera emblems I’m interested to be application specific. Simply meaning they are not interchangeable and still be preservationist correct. For instance I’ve spent time trying to find center cap emblems for an 81 Riviera turbines. The emblem is flat with R logo and 2.5” diameter. I’ve recreated the emblem numerous times in my shop. Although my 2.5” recreation acceptable by some the preservationist would politely reject my work. That’s ok, as I make clear representation of my work and products. Thank you for your comments. 7. Sir, in some circles folks speculate the 65 Riviera are in demand. I believe the 65’s are selling for a lot of money. Owners of the 65’s may be using other channels to advertise or holding on in hopes of higher prices. I own a 63 Riviera and I am delighted with the car. For my money I would spend the kind of money 65’s are bringing for another kind of collectible car. It’s not a better or worse decision how a person spends their money on preference. There is no discussion about personal taste. Turbinator
  8. Bill, it’s on my radar screen. I think but I have to verify they are for a 67 Riviera Rallye wheel. The diameter helps me narrow it down. CARS LLC gets $22.00 for each new. If I’m right. Bear with me I’ll get it in 24 hrs. Turbinstor
  9. I was of the same opinion.( my ethanol moisture was in my small engines I use to maintain my property.) I read a University study on the effectiveness of additives in gasoline to combat moisture in gasoline. A long read with specific documentation to convince me their study was real. Bottom line: HEET and BG were the only two additives that were effective allowing the moisture to go through the fuel system with the gasoline. Since then I do not use any additives for moisture.
  10. If your 65 has the vacuum trunk release the piece that fits over the trunk latch won’t fit. As for the remaining pieces I don’t know. I know the pieces fit my 63 Riviera.
  11. John, you write like you’ve been snorting coke. Too much of the white powder? “Casey Jones you better watch your speed….”
  12. I missed explaining these are OEM BUICK wheels. I guess the 853 stamped on the barrel of the wheel would have been sufficient information to indicate the real deal. I do deal in some items that are reproduced that soon no one will be able to tell the difference between the repros and original. The plating is real copper, nickel, and chrome. The opposite side of wheel could have been photographed I thought everyone knows what the other side looks like. The register ring is on the wheel. Believe it or not Sweden is known for very good chrome plating. John, although I’ll ship my wheels to the moon you loathe shipping in to Canada. Besides, I don’t sell on credit. Now that you’ve implied I’m a liar I won’t ever hear from you.
  13. Good the sooner I’m through with these I won’t have to store them. Thank you Bob
  14. Jan, not sure what the experts say. But I got the moulding off without breaking anything.
  15. Hill Jenkins will send you a kit made up to fit your trunk. Make an appointment with a local independent auto upholstery shop and have them install the kit. The clips that hold the board in are really hard to find. Real hard. The Jack spring holder clip… are available. Try Gene Guarnere for the Jack hardware. music_man_jetliner@yahoo.com Turbinator
  16. John, did you remove the moulding that surrounds the rear window? I’m not trying to be a smart elick. The reason I asked as I’m on my third attempt. First leak was through the rear tail lights. I fixed that. Second leak was plugged with a dab of silicone. Third attempt required removal of the metal band that lies between the trunk and rear window. I took the metal bank off, cleaned the trough and plugged the valley with strip caulk ( 3M). Steele rubber weather stripping was put in the trunk closure area. At this point I’m leaning toward taking the car to an independent glass shop I know. Let them take the window out and solve the problem. Another expense, but I really like the car. Turbinator
  17. Bill, You know the solution to shipping. Just follow the rules and save 50%. Folks have their preference and it is still a great country. Freight consolidators and freight forwarders use the same carriers we all do except for less money. There is no sense in over spending. Buyers try and carve sellers up on price of parts then piss money away on shipping. There are instances when a particular carrier is preferred because the carrier provides a special level of service. At one time USPS delivered parcels on Sunday via Express Mail. ( I’m not certain USPS still offers that service or not, but at one time they did) Nothing like knowing the business of doing business.( Has a ring, doesn’t it?) Turbinator
  18. USPS standard is length and girth of a parcel cannot exceed 108”. Source: USPS domestic Mail Manual.
  19. Awhile back I put a white color plastic gear driven widget in the transmission of my 63 Riviera in hope of getting accurate speed indicator on my speedo. The speed readout was close, but I wanted a tiny bit more accuracy on the speedometer. Tom Telesco told me about an instrument company in Texas that could help get an accurate read on speed. The company asked me to measure beginning and ending reading of the odometer over a measured mile. I did the drill a number of times at different places along Interstate 83. I sent the readings in along with a $150.00 check. After two or 3 eeeks I got my speed compensator instrument. Surprisingly, the instrument was easy to install. im satisfied with accuracy being right in until I reach 70 mph plus. The speed reading begins to differ as much as 3 mph when compared with a GPS app. Could be the GPS is a tad bit in error? I could use two different GPS apps on two different smart phones and report my finding regarding speed readout. I have two different sets of 4 tired and wheels. One set are 4 modern radials and the second set of 4 tires are radial bias look. The speed seems to have the same level of accuracy for each set of 4 radial tires. Turbinator
  20. Gents, I’ve noticed a long term interest in Buick Roadwheels. Over the last few years the Buick Roadwheels have found their way in my collection. The Turbines will always have top billing in my book. So, I thought I’d get 4 of them chrome plated. The Roadwheels have numbers imprinted on the barrel for identification. The four I have are 853’s but won’t fit my 63.
  21. Gents, That photo is what my Riv interior looked like when I was working on my AC. Good photo keep them coming. Turbinator
  22. Is that R+M/2? EmTee I just can’t bring myself to say something witty or humorous. My answer is I don’t know what R+M/2 is.
  23. 63 Buick Service manual says 96 Octane. Highest I can find is 93 Octane. Ethanol free gasoline anytime I can find ethanol free
  24. Sir, did you get your dash squared away? I remember that project was giving you heart burn. Hope all is well. Turbinator
