  1. In order to put the 895 Buick Roadwheel on a 63 Riviera would a spacer be required? The back spacing on the 895 is 3 3/8”. I’m not sure it is possible as the 895 was for disc brakes ( which I the 63 does not have). Thank you for your assistance. Turbinator
  2. Good morning, I’m missing something here. I go on Amazon and buy BG products. Are you helping us with the hard to find BG products? Places to shop? turbinator
  3. EmTee, since I was a boy changing oil in Dad’s pick up, used Chevy and Buicks he drove I always wondered about started the engine with no oil circulating in the engine. Then I read about priming the vertical oil filter at oil change time. Then I thought about the horizontal oil filter fitment. I just put about a 1/3 full in hopes not much would leak while I was spinning the horizontal filter on. I’m a fan of the better on going maintenance items for my Riviera. BG products I believe are worth the money. For ethanol gasoline treatment I use only HEET or BG products based on a University study that appeared to be a good study. Turbinator
  4. Ray, I called OReilly’s store in siouthern Maryland. The Waldorf store employee said he would make the request for the filter. The gent went on to say if it is available he try to snag one for me. Also, he will call back and tell me the full story. I suspect you are right saying the 42092 is discontinued. I think I’ve beat this horse enough. Turbinator
  5. Yes Sir, one thing it tells me is the 63 Riv air filter is different size than the 64 and 65. I would think there would more crossover of parts compatibility then there is. The generalization I make is if the Japanese develops a good design that works they keep. By example the Toyotas I’ve had as my daily drivers hood support has been the same since 1988. I think Americans change designs in hopes of selling more vehicles. I appreciate you taking the time to show all the items we might use. Turbinator
  6. NTX, you are right on regarding customer service. High tech low touch. You call a company and you end going through the answering machine drill. I found an exception to my general statement. A company known as Cyclone makes their equipment here in the US. I use their stuff a lot for what I do. I call and Jody answers the phone and Jody puts me through to Joe in Tech support. If Joe is on the line. Jody takes my name and number and says when Joe is free he will call you. Joe calls. Makes sense to me. No voice Mail no run around. Good example of management knowing what customers want. A NAPA dealer in Hunt Valley MD ran down an A6 newly manufactured air compressor for my needs. The dealer was the owner and worked hard to get my air compressor. Turbinator
  7. Ray, one way I know of to find out. I’ll let you know one way or the other if I get the filter. Turbinator
  8. John, I do not know the dimensions of the air filter. I would hope their design engineers and QC folk would know what product dimensions should be. An error in manufacturing would not surprise me. Turbinator
  9. While we were on filters I found a Wix 42092. They changed part number but said a direct fit for 63 Riviera. https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/c/wix/wix-round-panel-air-filter/wix0/42092/v/a/13723/automotive-car-1963-buick-riviera?q=42082+air+filter&pos=1
  10. “ Rollers” as I know them. These are Automobiles gents chrome even the under carriage then engrave the chrome. Super intricate paint work with scallops, fog, metal flake, Diamond dust, pin striping, clear coats, gleaming wire spoke wheels are standard. Additionally, the automobile has no gasoline or oil for fear of leaks. I believe these one time autos are known as Folk Art. Their purpose is to show their creation. The one time automobile is now Art to show for folks to enjoy…. Or not enjoy. We can label the “ Roller” a car, but no longer the automobile drivers know the vehicle. There is no arguing personal taste Later Gator The Turbinator
  11. EmTee, Electro polishing, Electroless nickel plating. The Hydrographic film is all new to me. Thank you Turbinatir
  12. Arnulfo, I’m with you on the EPA restrictions, etc. As much as government ties our hands there is some good science proving some chemicals in chrome plating causes cancer. Somethings are not to be played with. The shop I was using down South was great, but I couldn’t stand the costs. The chrome costs are Just out of my reach for added value resale items. There are other methods for achieving a great shine and metal protection for metal, but a great shine for some people is not a chrome mirror shine. Additionally, the shops doing other than chrome plating, are not all that keen on automotive gear. Thank you Turbinator
  13. John, thank you for heads up on the emblem sizing of 2” for the 65 and 2 1/8” for the 68. What I’m after is the bore size on the 65 being 2 3/4” and the backspace being 3 3/8” on the 65 and 5 on 5 with the wheel being 15” in diameter and width being 6” WILL the 65 wheel fit a 68 Riviera.? Seems straight forward for those with experience and with the two wheels. It is not so straightforward for me. ( I knew playing football without a helmet was going to haunt me ) Thank you Turbinator
  14. Gents, I’ve measured and compared what I know 15”x6” 5on 5 Buick steel wheel I know fits a 65 Riviera. The center bore is 2 3/4” and backspace is 3 3/8”. My burning question is will a wheel with aforementioned sizes fit a 1968 Buick Riviera? Thank you Turbinator
  15. May I ask your purpose for the steel stock wheels for the 65? You have Rallye wheels on the car now? Turbinator
  16. I just bought a set of radials with one inch white walls for $463.00 inc. tax. The name on the tire is IronMan 225/75/16. Surprisingly the tires are made by Cooper right here in the USA. Imagine that. Turbinator
  17. Chuck, when I put in my O rings I mashed them flat. They need to be tight but not mashed flat. I had no luck rebuilding the STV, but really it could have been mistakes on my part. I finally used bypass kit to replace STV and that worked. I’m in hopes you are on your way to cool air. Turbinator
  18. Now you know that is a persons car. Here you are bustin’ on the man’s ride. To each his own. Turbinator
  19. Arnulfo, here we are three years later. Do you think the chrome plating is still $200 a wheel? I would bet it is really expensive. In Maryland I got prices at $600 each and $450.00 each. In the mid 60’s I chromed almost everything on my Honda motorcycle. Then the cost to chrome plate was affordable even for a 16 year old. Turbinator
  20. The reason the person changed his car is because he wanted to change his car. Why would anyone change their car? Turbinatir
  21. I use analog gauges that have to connected to oil sending unit and the water temp bulb went into the engine on top of the engine beside the valve cover on the driver side. Should be a bolt screwed in appearing to be doing anything. For me, I drilled a hole in the floor very close to the console. Arnulfo, did it the best way by not drilling any holes in the car. Sir, you might investigate holes in the firewall already made and see the has enough room to share another line. Some people try to figure out the best place to mount the gauges inside the car. 22. Chris, the 1964 Buick Service Manual is your friend. More of a friend than you can imagine. First thing you buy for the car and you is the manual. It’s in CD FORM as well as paperback. There are many gents that are highly experienced on your 64 as they know the ins and outs of the car. Join the Riviera Owners Association. The ROA is a tremendous source of information. Have fun. 23. Adam, me not knowing the obvious you saw the water coming in through the tail light housing? Only reason I ask is I replaced my trunk weather stripping before I saw I had no taillight frame mounts. Fixed that. Now the water is coming in through the place between the trunk opening and back window.
  24. Ive had my 63 Riv 5-6 years and if it it wasn't one thing it is another. No show stopper, but a headlight. Then the heater is wonky. I fixed the leak in my trunk for the third time and it still leaks and my liner is bit dirty but salvageable. If it is not one thing it is another. Connecting the brake cylinder rod to the brake pedal for me was difficult. Adapter connecting rods are made to eliminate the misery. A new brake cylinder should have no effect on your speedo accuracy. ( just kidding of course)
  25. If you want the liner covered go to Jenkins Upholstery (Jenkins-interiors.com) in North Carolina that way you can wipe off scuff marks. Hill Jenkins will sell you the stock appearing material that lines the shelf where the spare goes and the floor. If you go with the cardboard liner I have it is new, but on the shelf for a long time. No scratches, etc. I'll mail or ship to you method you choose. If interested PM me for the price. Turbinate
