  1. John, thank you for heads up on the emblem sizing of 2” for the 65 and 2 1/8” for the 68. What I’m after is the bore size on the 65 being 2 3/4” and the backspace being 3 3/8” on the 65 and 5 on 5 with the wheel being 15” in diameter and width being 6” WILL the 65 wheel fit a 68 Riviera.? Seems straight forward for those with experience and with the two wheels. It is not so straightforward for me. ( I knew playing football without a helmet was going to haunt me ) Thank you Turbinator
  2. Gents, I’ve measured and compared what I know 15”x6” 5on 5 Buick steel wheel I know fits a 65 Riviera. The center bore is 2 3/4” and backspace is 3 3/8”. My burning question is will a wheel with aforementioned sizes fit a 1968 Buick Riviera? Thank you Turbinator
  3. May I ask your purpose for the steel stock wheels for the 65? You have Rallye wheels on the car now? Turbinator
  4. I just bought a set of radials with one inch white walls for $463.00 inc. tax. The name on the tire is IronMan 225/75/16. Surprisingly the tires are made by Cooper right here in the USA. Imagine that. Turbinator
  5. Chuck, when I put in my O rings I mashed them flat. They need to be tight but not mashed flat. I had no luck rebuilding the STV, but really it could have been mistakes on my part. I finally used bypass kit to replace STV and that worked. I’m in hopes you are on your way to cool air. Turbinator
  6. Now you know that is a persons car. Here you are bustin’ on the man’s ride. To each his own. Turbinator
  7. Arnulfo, here we are three years later. Do you think the chrome plating is still $200 a wheel? I would bet it is really expensive. In Maryland I got prices at $600 each and $450.00 each. In the mid 60’s I chromed almost everything on my Honda motorcycle. Then the cost to chrome plate was affordable even for a 16 year old. Turbinator
  8. The reason the person changed his car is because he wanted to change his car. Why would anyone change their car? Turbinatir
  9. I use analog gauges that have to connected to oil sending unit and the water temp bulb went into the engine on top of the engine beside the valve cover on the driver side. Should be a bolt screwed in appearing to be doing anything. For me, I drilled a hole in the floor very close to the console. Arnulfo, did it the best way by not drilling any holes in the car. Sir, you might investigate holes in the firewall already made and see the has enough room to share another line. Some people try to figure out the best place to mount the gauges inside the car. 10. Chris, the 1964 Buick Service Manual is your friend. More of a friend than you can imagine. First thing you buy for the car and you is the manual. It’s in CD FORM as well as paperback. There are many gents that are highly experienced on your 64 as they know the ins and outs of the car. Join the Riviera Owners Association. The ROA is a tremendous source of information. Have fun. 11. Adam, me not knowing the obvious you saw the water coming in through the tail light housing? Only reason I ask is I replaced my trunk weather stripping before I saw I had no taillight frame mounts. Fixed that. Now the water is coming in through the place between the trunk opening and back window.
  12. Ive had my 63 Riv 5-6 years and if it it wasn't one thing it is another. No show stopper, but a headlight. Then the heater is wonky. I fixed the leak in my trunk for the third time and it still leaks and my liner is bit dirty but salvageable. If it is not one thing it is another. Connecting the brake cylinder rod to the brake pedal for me was difficult. Adapter connecting rods are made to eliminate the misery. A new brake cylinder should have no effect on your speedo accuracy. ( just kidding of course)
  13. If you want the liner covered go to Jenkins Upholstery (Jenkins-interiors.com) in North Carolina that way you can wipe off scuff marks. Hill Jenkins will sell you the stock appearing material that lines the shelf where the spare goes and the floor. If you go with the cardboard liner I have it is new, but on the shelf for a long time. No scratches, etc. I'll mail or ship to you method you choose. If interested PM me for the price. Turbinate
  14. Arnulfo, I went ahead and for sure fixed my leaky trunk. I missed fixing it again. I took out trunk kit and dried everything. Now I’ve got to find where I missed sealing the metal piece below the rear window and above the trunk opening. I’ll bird dog that leak and fix it. im taking on new project of “ dolling up” Buick Roadwheels. I’m ok at powder coating the black part in the Rallye wheel. I have the patience to prepare the surface for good adhesion. The shiny metal part of the wheel is going to be tricky to get the bright reflection correct. The chrome plating is through the roof expensive. I t h I n k with some luck I can get the metal shiny and STILL protect the shine from rust. On going maintenance free of cracking, peeling, yellowing for the customer is critical. Along with the wheel comes directions to the customer on how to keep the shine. Should be a good deal for the customer. Vendors like me and others continue to practice treating buyers right. It is the only way to build a business. Vendors need to listen to customer complaints and offer solutions. Reasonable men will find away to get the job done to customer satisfaction. Now there are a very few customers and vendors ( me included) can be hard heads. We’ve got to put that aside and find a solution. Recently I gave a big name supplier a $160.00 of samples to follow up on a decision to buy a wholesale load. Two emails with no answers and now a business letter written requesting return of my samples. Because the supplier is big name that does not preclude them from blowing me off. So, I will continue to earn my respect as I give respect. I will respectfully and professionally request even another return of my property. The HQ is not so far I can’t drive up to the store and get what belongs to me. I will not slander the company, but I’ll make it clear I don’t quit on disrespect. Later Gator The Turbinator
  15. They sure as heck could have had some of those portable toilets spread a little more. AND a few more liquid and food vendors spread out. I had a car there as well. It was a gorgeous day.
  16. When the flies, mosquitoes, flying stinging varments become pesky I take off my shoes and socks. The insects disappear or curl up and die all around. Fortunately, only the insects are affected. Folks sit right down beside me and do not say a word. Matter of fact in really bad cases of mosquito infestation I take off my shoes and socks and draw a crowd of people. My car is classified in 25 F. If you see a fellow sitting by his car barefoot stop by and sit a spell. Turbinator
  17. I’m sorry I don’t write well. The horn cap was meant as an example of some of my work. I know you want Buick Roadwheels. You will need emblems when the time comes.
  18. Sure. They certainly are. The smaller ones are less than 2” and are made for the wire wheel covers for 63 and 64. The turbine emblems are about 2 3/4” in diameter. In the event you cannot find ( seems like you can) the size you want the 2 3/4” diameter can be cut down to the size you need. I can’t keep up with all the emblem size diameters. Ideal solution? Maybe not if the right stuff is available. I make up horn caps. Here is one for a wood steering wheel 66 Wildcat.
  19. My current rig is a Quincy 5HP, 60 gallon tank, and 15 CFM. I added an IR refrigerated line dryer and 80 gallon dry air tank reservoir. I wish I had at least a 7.5 HP compressor and a larger line dryer., 29-35. I media blast metal parts and powder coat.
  20. Wayne, this is a late follow up. I remembered your Prepsol wax and or grease remover would remove the brown spots. I'd never experienced the tire bloom until I bought American made tires by Cooper. I have no problem wiping off the brown spots since I have a chemical solution. Thank you!
  21. Arnulfo, I hope you are well. basic operation of the Rev is important to me. Now I have the "Mickey Mouse" aftermarket fuel pump on my Riv and I'm happy. Ive learned if it works leave it alone unless you are not satisfied. Then fix what you must. I have a rebuildable fuel pump. From what Ive read this fuel pump should in the engine, but the fuel line fitment might be different? I probably have 1/4" instead of 5/16" fitting with the aftermarket pump.? Let me repeat everything works to suit me now. I have the rebuildable as a spare. Turbinator
  22. I have the black background TriShield emblems and R emblems I can size to fit your wheels. I'm not saying what fits what. I'm saying you want the emblem 2", 2 1/16", 2 !/8" or what ever size to fit your Buick Roadwheels I'll size them to your specs. Look at the size of the emblem and judge for yourself if the proportion is satisfactory. The emblems are newly manufactured copies of the original.
  23. If you have an emblem in the door panel, I have the black background Riviera written in the circle in my "wood panel" on. my 63. Another long shot, but. maybe a bullseye. If you give the emblem in the door panel some tape over the emblem to see if you can isolate movement, if any. that is what was rattling in my "wood" panel. Turbinator
  24. John, the zinc bath is a solution. I read about the purpose and checked out supplies. The Zinc bath may not diminish the shine. Powder coat clear does in fact diminish the bright shine. Probably a clear liquid would protect the shine. Options abound for coatings to protect the clean brightened steel to shine. Time, $, invested in a solution the market accepts is another speculation. I’ve experimented with liquid chrome you spray. It is very much like a chemistry lab class. The methods are tedious and experience in spray painting is a must. The chemicals are the same used to make mirrors. The chemicals are quite expensive and clean spray area ( booth) is a must, It’s fun trying to find new and better ways to make metal shine. later Gator The Turbinator
  25. The duct taped iPhone to the steering wheel helps with comparative methods for measuring speed and determining gasoline mileage. I’ve spent a lot of time in my Riv. I’ve spent so much time in the car that I’m able to determine speed with my sense of smell. I’m so good with my sense of smell I know when someone is pulling my leg on speed and mileage accuracy. On the item of accuracy we all the GPS is about as good as it is going to get for accurate measurement. The writers describing their GPS app admit the GPS is NOT 100% accurate. I’m sure GPS is more accurate than my speedo. I’m ok with being a little wonky as I change wheels and tires often.
