  1. Hello All. Does anyone have a picture of where the drain hole(s) are located that allow water entering the cowl to pass thru? This is a 65 question and specific to the driver side. When water enters the driver side cowl, I get water in on the drivers side floor. I certain I have a drain hole(s) blockage. I am uncertain how best to access and clear these. Suggestions welcome. Thank you. ag
  2. This is the 65. I have reconnected the kickdown. PO installed the dual circuit brakes and for safety I will leave them. I treat this one like a nice driver that does a few cruise nights through the summer.
  3. Here is a picture from my 63 that I had apart a few summers ago. Hooks are on left. May not be best picture for identification.
  4. Installed refurbished Carter and it’s running well. The accelerator pump was degraded, edges of plunger were ragged, and was causing a stumble from idle to 1/4 throttle or more. The new plunger wiper material looks very different, like pleather. Next rebuild I will get a kit from Carbking. Engine bay remains a work in progress.
  5. Hi Jon. Thank you re dust boot. Previous owner switched to electric. One more item for me to add to the “make it correct” list. Andrew
  6. Man, I love this community within this forum. Thank you for the rapid replies. I will complete the mounting of carb after dinner. Andrew
  7. Hello Gentlemen, I have just done my first rebuild of a Carter AFB (second carb in 53 years 😮‍💨) . Two questions. 1. should there be a boot that cover the accelerator pump to prevent debris from entering the pump cylinder? See picture. 2. PO had three layers of gaskets under carb starting from the intake up with smiley face fiber, metal, then square fiber. Square fiber is soaked in fuel. What gaskets and sequence is correct/optimal for a 65 401? Thank you in advance for your guidance. Andrew
  8. Good point! End of the era.
  9. This picture popped up in my FB feed and is one I had never seen before. This is not my picture, I am only sharing because I thought it was cool view of 66 nailheads being born.
  10. I don’t think he is on here. I found him on YouTube and enjoy watching him ply his craft. His explanation of how to use the most basic tools and the logic he lays out to achieve the result is truly impressive. Man has the patience of a saint and the skill of a surgeon.
  11. Fitzee does a nice job showing how to fabricate a body mount from scratch. Granted, the man is master in his craft. Might provide inspiration for some.
  12. Scam ads for the 65 GS seem more prevalent these days due to their desirability and recent appreciation in auction values. If you inquire on one of these digital ads and get an overly eager response and an immediate question like "where are you located?" this could indicate a scammer trying to determine which play to run from the scam playbook. When I spot these ads I've taken to reporting them as well. Same holds true for certain unobtainium parts; scammers play in the space too. In typical fashion, if 'deal' seems too good to be true it probably is. The good news is, you've found this group of experts and within it there is a tremendous amount of wisdom that you can lean on as I have done myself. A membership in the ROA is good idea as well so you can access special technical advisors like Tom Mooney if you find a 65 GS and want to establish it's authenticity since there are GS 'tribute' cars out there that may be falsely represented as authentic. My 2 cents. Good luck and have fun with your search!
  13. That is the 'eye' for the Guide-matic auto dimming headlights.
  14. Hi Bill, I might have what you're looking for. I'll check my parts cache and PM you with result. Thx, Andrew
  15. Just did the water pump and thermostat on my 63 on Sunday. Did the 1/8 “ hole trick after remembering it from one of your previous posts Emtee. All worked perfectly.
