  1. If it doesn’t fit it’s probably 50/70 series. The back seat in our ‘56 Special is from a ‘55 (although it’s been re-covered to look ‘56). I would look for the correct size. Reworking spring steel can be a pain.

  3. Hey @Barney Eaton, I’ve been having trouble with Reatta.net lately. Am I the only one? Do you keep an up to date copy of the registry anywhere else?
  4. I found this at the grocery store last night. Only bought this because it has whitewalls and SCALLOPS. Now if it only had a VISOR… lol
  5. They usually have a time cycle. No matter how picked or loaded a car is, when its time is up, it’s time is up.
  6. Yep, lots of good stuff cheap here, if yer local and want to put in a little sweat. I’d made a pretty good deal on an oil bath air cleaner in Oklahoma. While there I stopped at an LKQ and stumbled across a ‘54 Pontiac with an identical air cleaner. I took a picture of it and asked the front desk, “How much?” ”$10” ”And this trunk lid emblem?” ”Two” ”Hundred?” ”No, two dollars!”
  7. Just in! Not mine. Menu prices on the LKQpickyourpart.com website.
  8. There’s a big ol’ spring behind that accumulator cap. Be careful… Fatsco has the gaskets, seals, and overhaul kits for these transmissions.
  9. That’s the most common way to block it that I’ve seen. Nice thing about that method is that it’s easily undoable. Not sure what’s risky about it. It’s not a bolt & nut, it’s a drill & tap. Use a setscrew and Loctite 495 it in place if yer worried about it moving. Obviously you don’t want metal bits in your engine, so you’d want to remove the intake and do this on the bench. Other alternatives include block-off plates under the intake, pouring molten aluminum into the riser passages, or just using a different intake altogether.
  10. Not Mine lol I’m always on the prowl for B-body parts, so I know these are hard to find. Especially with a Buick motor…
  11. Pretty sure the balancer came from AutoZone. Looks like I used a 1 1/8" socket. Yeah, it's keyed, but I didn't mess with it. Both my '89 LeSabre and 1990 Reatta were slip-fit balancers.
  12. 1950 was the only year for that style of grille. Easy to spot.
  13. Fuel *is* less dense than water… 0-30 should be correct, 0 ohms empty, 30 ohms full. If it’s always reading low it could be a bad ground at the gauge.

  15. Not as much like a miss and more like someone turning the key off and on rapidly.
  16. Just unplug the 4-pin electrical connector on the transmission. That will disable the TCC. But that doesn’t sound like what the OP is describing.
  17. My ‘82 bucked a little from time to time. It was the coil failing. New coil, smooth as silk.
  18. You might want to add an external cooler, but to this day there are lots of folks across Europe caravaning with old Buicks.
