  1. It looks like a great video. I wish I spoke French! Even with the language barrier, I think I'll be able to pick up a few things from this. Thanks again!
  2. Thank you sebastienbuick. I will provide this information to the person who will check the components of my generator once I figure out how to get the field coils out. There's been too much going on for me to get any garage time!
  3. That appears older than my van. I believe the engine in mine is from around 1960.
  4. I think I'll just spend my money on my humble collection of 2 Fiats and a 2CV. At least they're odd from the factory...
  5. Here's a photo of the front of the generator after I cleaned it up. I have had the armature out but am unsure how to remove the field coils.
  6. My dad had an Electrolux vacuum similar to that years ago. We beat the snot out of it working on our cars!
  7. I have successfully installed the crankshaft seals, cleaned up the mess from the old leaking seals, adjusted the valves, and fixed a couple other small things. The van is running better and doesn't leak all over the garage floor. I installed the voltage regulator from sebastienbuick, but unfortunately, it still isn't charging. I guess the next step is to take the generator components to a specialist and get them checked. Question: Could anyone tell me how to get the field coils of the generator out of the engine? I'm guessing the case that they're attached to must come out, but I don't want to risk damaging something trying to remove it incorrectly. Any advice would be appreciated.
  8. Not everyone checks this forum everyday. There could be any number of reasons for not responding quickly. Welcome mat is out...
  9. Amazing. One could almost get lost within the images - they're so good at eliciting emotion.
  10. Great day for the mail! The correct rear seal arrived and the voltage regulator from Sebastienbuick did too! Busy days ahead so I'm not sure when I'll be able to work on the 2cv, but hopefully soon.
  11. My little brother (pictured) and I pulled the engine Monday to replace the leaking crankshaft seals. We would have had it back in quickly except the vendor I purchased the seals from accidently sent me the wrong rear seal. Anyway, I took the extra time to clean up the mess from the old seals and should have the engine back in by the weekend. The front seal was only leaking a small amount but decided to change it anyway. Also thoroughly cleaned out the generator housing. Maybe that will help solve the lack-of-charging problem I have. I am awaiting the voltage regulator that sebastienbuick was kind enough to obtain for me. Having fun!
  12. Makes me want to get my old Matchbox cars out to play again! It's only been about 45 years since I spent time driving around in them.
  13. My Citroen 2cv has a similar ripple bonnet.
  14. Headlights are different and what's with the front bumper on the nearer car?
  15. I'm kinda partial to the 1935 Hupmobile 518D, having owned one a while back. Couldn't find a picture of mine easily, so I pulled this one off the web.
  16. The volkswagen in the first photo looks like an anachronism! Who put that there??
  17. J'aime ça! I have never seen one of these before. It looks to be in great condition. I hope you start a new topic when the restoration begins!
  18. Incroyable! Trés expensive! Je voudrais que vous achetez le utilisé pour moi. Merci. Merci. Merci. As much as I'd like a new one, I'm certainly not going to spend that much! Thank you very much for buying the used one for me. It will blend in well with the rest of my van.
