  1. Thanks Ed, did a little searching and found it at CARS. Hadn't seen they had it before.
  2. Welcome. We should all buy you a burger or something Enjoy the car, it's lovely.
  3. I think this part is the AC "muffler" - on my car the foam was so bad that I replaced it with some self-adhesive duct insulation (the silver stuff in the pic). I keep wanting to find the stock looking foam but I searched Home Depot for something like that. Also auto parts stores, etc. Nothing I could find. Anyone have a tip for finding something like the stock foam (black)? EDIT: Hmmm, maybe a neoprene sheet from a craft store, cut to fit
  4. I really really love that 65 GS in Sacramento linked above but what the heck is with the trunk lid? The fit looks terrible. https://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/cto/5934564691.html
  5. very cool! I didn't know about this - just designed one for myself and ordered it!
  6. Very nice 65 non GS, the other two don't peg my needle. No reserves, will be interesting to see how they do.
  7. so do these fit on a normal Coker radial? ad says they need inner tubes. Not familiar with that.
  8. Good luck. If it runs, that's an excellent price for the condition I think!
  9. That obviously is a crazy listing! Ick. I must say, though, don't knock MAACO too bad. I had a local shop paint my Jeep (recommended by a great vintage paint shop when I didn't want to spend $7K+). If you do the proper prep work to set them up, and pay for their best plan, it's a decent job for less than $2K, and a lot of cars don't warrant spending crazy paint money on because you would never see it back. Just my opinion. I could get three MAACO paint jobs for what the vintage shop wanted to charge, and that's an option to always think about. EDIT: But I would NEVER have them paint my Riviera, haha.
  10. Can I interest you in the sport model? ehhhhhh
  11. You made me think Bernie! Well said. It's true, this car is much older than me and I didn't buy it for nostalgia reasons. I do admire the design of the car and I don't think that's a bad thing. We will need younger folks to like 50s and 60s cars too or they will all rust away while everyone moves on to the next "childhood dream" car for each generation. I am a graphic designer and I am really pulled to what Bill Mitchell's team created. I think the first-gen Rivieras are an important car in the history of automotive design, helping mark an American transition from the rocketeering/chrome look to clean lines/modern look. But that's just my 2 cents. These cars are also a great value and a great entry point to owning a classic. I'd love to have a garage of my toys, but I don't have the $$ haha! We will see. For one thing, I think you all have amazing taste!
  12. I am pondering selling my 64 Rivi next spring. I don't like driving her in the rain (brakes! yeesh!) or at night. Frankly, I probably take her out for a drive twice a month and I'm not sure that is enough, you know? I can probably sell and break even at worst, including what I have spent on maintenance. Do you guys have these regrets? She's such a beautiful car but she's too big for the parking lot at work without me stressing about bumps. Are Sunday drives enough to keep your juices flowing? I'm not sure.
  13. Sold at 16,000. Not the greatest color combo IMO (white/blue interior). Looked better on the carpet than I expected.
  14. I see a 63 white Riv at lot 75, which means it should cross the line in 30 minutes or so (you can watch live online)
  15. 30 years in storage?? talk about a project
  16. Again, you could go Bring A Trailer. It's $250. You save a lot on no commission compared to ebay. They will haggle with you over the reserve but you could see what they would want it at.
  17. Have you thought about selling it on Bring A Trailer? It's only $250. But the reserve might not be where you'd like it. I sold my Jeep on there a few months ago and it was really fun.
  18. Do you mean on eBay? There isn't a huge market for Rivieras. They're not Porsche or Jag or Corvette or even GTO. I think at 10-20K these are a great value. I know if I sold mine (very nice condition), I wouldn't let it go for less than 20 unless I was facing living in a cardboard box. But that doesn't mean anybody wants to pay that
  19. Well, now I do have an issue (shock!) The stock antenna is wired with an up wire and and a down wire. This lets you use the dash switch to raise and lower it. It stops wherever you want, etc. The replacement antenna is an auto-down wiring. There's no up and down, just a single wire to activate and a red wire for power all the time. If you wire it to the radio, when you turn the radio off it goes down. So either I have to wire it to the radio (but crap I like the switch, it's cool) or open the antenna device and rewire it somehow? Or go back to stock. Any help? UPDATE: Here's a pic of the wiring inside the new antenna
  20. Ironically, as soon as this new one arrived in the mail, my stock antenna started working again. haha. But I want the flush mount anyway.
  21. There's no sleeve (it's not designed to work with the stock bezel but in its own hood connector, which I am not using obviously) so I will probably add some electrical tape inside the bezel to keep it snug. Everything needed looks to be in the kit. You attach it to the fender with a bendable metal bar that screws in. I will let you know if I have any troubles with the install but it looks pretty simple.
