  1. About to start the install on mine. Appears I need to cut about an inch off the underside of the bezel. I also found a plastic washer that hopefully will do the trick for the connection point on top to avoid a ground issue?
  2. Gotta admit, I just bought one off eBay too, couldn't resist
  3. I believe there is a behind-the-scenes story of the crew stealing Nimoy's Riviera. Shatner and Nimoy liked to play practical jokes on each other.
  4. eBay shows it sold for $20,200? Sounds OK to me. But no pics of the engine bay? Hmmm. Also odd that the molding is removed under the rear window. Suggests to me some rust repair back there.
  5. Looks weird to me. You lose all the circular design in the stock ones. I guess if you're doing a resto-mod ...
  6. I guess you can see a difference here. The fender drops to the top of the whitewall stripe vs. being above it.
  7. Thought everyone might be interested to see what my 64 looks like now with 1-inch lowering springs. I was going for a stock look, subtle improvement but with no worries about scraping on my angled entryway. I could tell immediately the difference but it's tough to see in photos. My one before photo from the side doesn't highlight the change so I'm not posting it. Special thanks to Ed Raner for suggesting Coil Springs Specialities. They did a great job. Install was a pain for my mechanic too. He broke two of the bolts because even penetrating oil and heat failed to set them loose. And I think he installed at least one spring from the backside. Some surface rust on very original parts under there! I think a 2-inch drop would have been fine, too, and more obvious but I'm happy.
  8. OK, you convinced me Dale, I went ahead and ordered one of those! Thanks, looking forward to the install. I installed an OE style antenna last year, it's not a difficult access.
  9. Sounds like Dale had to do quite a few mods, too, though, including a mounting bracket.
  10. Has anyone used the power antenna OPGI sells? It seems to sit flush. My antenna motor (a replacement) just went out. I'd like to go new.
  11. So I bought a replacement ignition switch, which installs fine, except I see the chrome cover on the new switch is a lot smaller in diameter than the original style. It leaves a very noticeable gap on the dash. Pretty ugly. Seems I should be able to pry off the chrome cap on the switch and use the old one. But it doesn't want to come off easily and I don't watch to damage it. Any tips?
  12. My gear selector doesn't "click" into PRNDL, you just sort of have to get in the right area and it connects. I don't think this is normal. Do I just need a new gear lever? Or is it something else?
  13. I've thought about doing the spray in the carb thing too, just to eliminate all the cranks. Any downside? Is that no issue for the fuel lines?
  14. Yeah, probably 20 seconds to start it (off, on, off, on, pumps, etc) is normal for me. I start it every couple of weeks.
  15. I was checking some fuses and just noticed this. There's the usual headlight brights switch to the far left in the driver well, but there's another switch closer to the brake pedal! What the heck is that? It was under the edge of the floor mat and I didn't notice it before!
  16. I have the Coker 1.3 inch. Hankook makes a similar white wall, which I have on my Jeep.
  17. Yeah 18K is a fair starting point for a 64 in this condition and color
  18. Also, the completed wheel is a three-screw wheel
  19. I've finished fixing the wheels on my 64, so I'm selling the leftover parts and extras if anyone needs some of this stuff. Nothing is in perfect condition, it's all OK. The best piece is the complete wheel (but it could use a repaint of the black inner). The second wheel has a bit of curb rash but it's not too bad. The plastic caps are all worn, the best one is the last Riviera oval. One of the chrome spin pieces is a three screw, the other a four. The unfinished wheel is a four-screw one. PM if you need something. I will be reasonable.
  20. yeah I noticed the headliner too, looks slightly odd. And the valve covers (but then I've installed those same ones on mine , I'm not a sticker for authenticity)
  21. Beautiful 64 in Surf Green for sale on ebay out of B.C. Looks almost flawless to me. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1964-Buick-Riviera-/222151896675?&_trksid=p2056016.m2518.l4276
  22. I did the Retro Sound stereo from OPGI, plus matching speakers. No complaints. It doesn't look as nice as the stock one, for sure.
  23. http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2016/05/riviera-resurrected-gm-files-trademark-application-famous-badge/ Nothing more than a lot of speculation in the article, but Buick applied for trademark on the Riviera name for future vehicle use. Despite all the buzz for the Avista concept, they killed any hopes of that being made. Why would they then make a Riviera? Is there enough good will in the name anymore or do most folks just think Buick is an old person's car? I'd love to see it come back, but only if they do it right with a stunning design and not a CUV thing.
