And the new replacement panels from others dont look right or original. And no one has new cross braces. The two joints in CA are legit.

65 riviera 3.23 posi 3rd member and gears rebuild kit or parts
RockitRiviera replied to Red Dawn's topic in Buick Riviera
Did u ever find a source for rebuild kit? This seems to be an oddball differential. I have a 65 GS with the posi too. -
There are two places in california. In rancho cucamonga and roseville. Search both areas on craigs list. Ive been to both places, great guys. Lots of floor pieces with clean cross braces. I have several pieces on a greyhound bus now. Waiting for them to arrive in MN.

SEAT BELTS WANTED: 1970-75? Black Front Seats Only
RockitRiviera replied to RockitRiviera's topic in Buick Riviera
Thanks guys...the $229 is way too rich. I do like the $29 ones but they don't have the spring loaded. I see they have spring loaded/retraction options. I think I'll go junk yard hunting when it warms up a bit. You guys are always a great resource! Thanks again! -
Besides for my 1965 Riviera project, I have another that requires the front seat belts (Driver and Passenger, not the middle/armrest seat) from any full size GM car from 70-75. I would prefer black but open to options. They must have the recoil housings and they must work, the torx bolts and again, prefer black. Send pics and quote to 651-303-2686. I'm in MN so if you are nearby that's a plus...but I do travel the USA for work...so could always arrange a pick up. Thanks

MY EYES!!!!

I used FatMat...it works well and much lower price than Dynamat. Found it on Ebay.

RideTech is what I have on mine. I've only purchased the airbags so far. I have not bought the controller or the air pump. That's another $1800 above what I spent on the air bags. For the front, the Lower Control Arm needs to be HEAVILY modified.

Are we allowed to discuss future classics here? Because, WOW! http://www.buick.com/avista-concept-coupe.html I really hope this isn't another tease from Buick...and I hope they can bring this to market asap.

Stop making it look so damn easy! (make a few for your forum friends)

Wouldn't it be nice if we were like the Skylark/Chevelle/Cutlass/Lemans guys? They have full floor pants w/braces.
-
Those are the cross members of my dreams!

I haven't found anybody that makes replacements but mine are about 3.5" wide and 3/4" deep. When I cut my floor supports/braces out...I found a much larger problem. Where they meet/weld to the rocker panels (door sills), the rocker panel is rusted away. I'm currently looking for a rust free body because I was only prepared to replace the floors...not fix the rockers, the fire wall where it meets the rockers (a whole lot of metal pinch welded together...it needs to all be cut out), the front windshield channel and the rear window channel (are all Swiss cheese). It's a friggin mess. Good Luck

I used Rare Parts and they did a nice job...much lower cost than others.

The owner told me that someone vandalized the car on Sunday. (9/20/2015) He said the headlight motor is missing, the air cleaner is gone and the radiator is gone. I was able to open the trunk with my vacuum pump from my car. Nothing in there...except HUGE holes in the floor, the spare tire and mouse poop. I also noticed the the roof is dented (above the pillar on both sides)...you can't see this in the pic. Pretty sad state of affairs. His address wasn't posted on the Craigslist ad, so either he gave out his address to someone interested in stopping over to look at it....or just randomly someone stole the headlight motor (it had to be a Riv person to do that and to know about it). Pretty sh!tty thing to do. (or the seller is making this all up and he sold pieces of the car). Buyer beware..

I have the vacuum pump (from the glove box of my 65) handy and out of my car...I could go visit him again and disconnect his push button trunk release with my vacuum pump and see if it pops open.
-
I did check this one out a month ago...it's about 50 miles from my house. If you have questions, let me know. I will say the body panels are all swiss cheese. So if you are looking for parts, that's another thing, but don't look at it for body panels. He can't get in the trunk, no keys, no title.

Update 1965 Riviera Restoration...rolling chassis
RockitRiviera replied to RockitRiviera's topic in Buick Riviera
I used the Eastwood silver gray Encapsulator. I sandblasted every thing then painted with the Eastwood stuff. -
So, you paid $1500 more than he was asking on Craigslist. You said he had many folks looking at it. It must have turn into a highest bidder situation? Good luck with it!
-
I may be speaking for myself, but the only reason I own a 65 Riv is because of those clam shell covers....seeing them work is inspiring. Good Job!
-
I have 1965 Riviera 401cu.in. rear springs...I'm not going to use them. IM me if you are interested. I even sand blasted them.
