  1. The team buick page has this comment on it The following is a table of engine paint colors used by Buick. It should be noted that in some instances changeover in paint color may not have coincided exactly with the change in model year. Such non-listed uses should be documented. So it's entirely possible
  2. The 1926 parts book doesn’t have a picture either
  3. That's about the size of my other smaller booklet that's just got lightweight pages, the book that's scanned above has backing and thick paper - it would have been quite expensive to produce. I love the fact though that my copy has period writing on it for someone pricing out the victoria and the coupe so it goes well with my coupe
  4. There is a great community for these caddy's that's on yahoo group I've got a 1922 Type 61, there are some things that interchange but a lot of stuff doesn't and in many cases does not interchange even within the same model (e.g. early type 61 vs late type 61 - which throws you off if you have an early handbook) We also have a 26 buick and the packaging of the cadillac makes some of the work much more difficult in comparison. I bought my Cadillac with a 'minor' popback through the carb, turns out that the rocker gear was totally smashed and I was running on about 5 1/2 cylinder... It did explain the very weird phenomenon where the drivers side block wasn't even heating up
  5. Looks like a ford ute not a holden ute
  6. Thanks so much, really appreciate it - the one in the service manual is really really small and is laid out along the chassis so it's quite challenging to follow logically.
  7. 1922 Type 61, promotional booklet - the original is roughly A4/letter sized and is 26 pages Very high quality pictures in the booklet and much better fidelity than the other smaller postcard sized booklet https://1drv.ms/b/s!AhZpPcMu-n3Mibciqz5PunJ8PbLkxw Scanned this one a few days ago because I haven't seen many copies floating around, and it's not in any of the GM archive material I've attached a sample scan to give you an idea of the quality of the scans. Enjoy!
  8. General motors for cleaning things in the 20's was pretty much pour gasoline or kerosene on it
  9. Since sunken U.S. Navy vessels are federal property, according to U.S. Code (18 U.S.C. 641), technically no portion of a government wreck may be disturbed or removed, and any unauthorized removal of any property from a U.S. Navy wreck is illegal. rightfully so as any fallen service personnel is a hero in my book It's not a US ship in the article so it wouldn't apply in this case but we would have something similar
  10. Haven't seen anything in our news about that one, strange given that it was one of ours that went down.
  11. Are there any holes near the gap between the passenger door and the cowl? That's where our holden tag is attached.
  12. Is your car Holden bodied? It may have been a different combo - our 26 standard has a blackwood dash
  13. Thanks mate, we might be able to work something out between the caddy guys if someone does get the totality of it
  14. Don't suppose you had the engine numbers for the cad's engines? Hoping there is a 61
  15. any idea of what sort of cad parts he had? there are a few I could use but it's a long way to Queensland
  16. Would they have been that shiny from the factory?
  17. Nice looking car! My cad has a very similar colour scheme on it
  18. I can't actually get the bearing caps off, they're stuck on tight and I didn't really want to run the risk of snapping them off.
  19. Had the bearings looked at today, they said to repour them they would want the whole crank and case to do it - really not sure what to do :|
  20. I have another Type 61 crank available to borrow, is it possible to use this to pour new bearings if the wear is similar and then just scrape them to fit my crank? Just trying to weigh up all of my options and the least risk short and long term :-)
  21. The rods don't connect directly onto the crank, they clamp onto these shells - the babbit surface there is the one that goes onto the crank. Is it still possible to do them without removing the crank? The top photo is the worst bearing, it's got about 5x1x1mm worn from around the oil hole and a 5x1mm drag To get the crank out of the car involves removing the entire motor (which also involves removing the rear fender...)
