  1. I have a 1952 Plymouth with the standard manual three speed trans. When I had the rear seal replaced I had this fluid put in. It smoothed out the shifts especially when cold and is safe for brass syncros. https://www.redlineoil.com/mtl-75w80-gl-4-gear-oil
  2. Jack, you are always so concise and elegant in you speech at the same time. So much said in so few words.
  3. A couple of the bumper guards on my 52 had some surface rust and were dingy to say the least. Cost of rechromming being what it is I decided to clean them well, scuff them, and paint them with chrome from a spray bomb. Although you definitely can tell it does not look bad and as a driver, I am happy with it. And do far no problem with adhesion.
  4. If it had a smashed in right headlight and factory steel wheels this one could have been my wife’s first car
  5. Well perhaps the cows still came home to the barn every night. And where did Mom and Dad put the air cleaner?
  6. If the words”Her Serene Highness” ever applied to anyone, it was Grace Kelly
  7. Oh I know better Carl, but sadly inertia and old age have set in. Maybe this year. On the 2016 Traverse I bought last summer I changed everything but the air in the tires. As said in the military”No excuse Sir”
  8. Been so long since I have had a Corvair I had forgotten about the 13 inch wheels.
  9. Reminds me of my Dad’s Seneca(1960 also) that he had in the late 60’s. His was a 225 six with a three speed column shift. Wonder what engine this one has?
  10. Well for 13 years I have been meaning to change the trans and diff fluid in my 1980 Volare. Had 8500 miles on it when I bought it and about 31,000 now. Still mean to do it, sometime. No noises or issues to this point.
  11. Mary Ann. Ginger was all fluff, little substance. I was sad when Dawn Wells passed.
  12. I haven’t owned Corvairs recently but had three in the 70’s. I would definitely pass on this one. And custom wheels often make me me a little nervous as I wonder how it has been driven. I know it’s just appearances but still...
  13. 383's are nice in Fury III's
  14. Another thing I have noticed around here is that unlike back in ancient times a stop light with a sensor would trip and the light would go through a complete cycle. If you were approaching the light you could plan on it changing for you shortly. No more. Now unless you are sitting at the light when it cycles you will wait until it trips again. And not necessarily with you first. And in addition it seems that there isn’t a set time for a cycle anymore. The lights act as if the sensor is programed to only allow so many seconds between cars going through. If someone is staring at his phone and leaves late the light will change and everyone behind him will sit through another cycle.
  15. Well being pretty much retired I don’t drive as much as I used to(and most of that to some Doctor). That said milage is not as important to me as to some folks. I do not like the idea of idle stop and go. I don’t care how you reengineer the starters or anything else to make up for it. Since we are all going.to be driving battery operated cars soon according to what I read why bother? Back 50 years ago when driving on the north side of Chicago(of all places)on Sheridan rd in the high rent district if you left the first traffic light and drove the speed limit you could almost make it to Evanston before you had to stop for another light(3or4 miles). If they could do it then, no excuse not to be able to do it now.
  16. Another Plymouth thread to follow 😃
  17. And I was going to say it was a nice looking car if a bit overpriced. Goes to show what I know.
  18. Not to mention the starter the size of an oil barrel
  19. Memories. Mine was a gold color but just like that one. Thanks for the info.
