1960 Sunbeam alpine $2,700, Santa Rosa, CA
plymouthcranbrook replied to mike6024's topic in "Not Mine" Automobiles For Sale
I dunno, I had two Sunbeams and I don’t believe I ever said I should have kept either one of them. I am a slow learner. -
The only book I still take is Hemmings and it just arrived yesterday about two weeks later than usual. I have noticed that the volume of mail has decreased as well. So days I get none which until recently was very rare.

Just saw this on E-Bay. Apparently no reserve. Made its way to $1575 after 50 bids. In New Jersy. Not mine of course but I would probably like it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/284305861411?hash=item4231f32b23:g:NeIAAOSwNgVgq-8O It won't let me copy the pictures except as thumbnails so I cannot seem to post them. It is a bit rough as you would expect but at that price mignt be worthy a look.

I do like 50’s Packards. However I wonder about some of the pictures though. First one looks ok, but then they go to being parked in the snow, doesn’t look like any tracks where it was driven to where it is. Left sitting out in the snow? And if on the rear floor, flakes of foam? First thing comes to me is maybe mice? And I am not sure what that is on the intake manifold. Can someone tell me what it looks like to them? He does say needs interior work so I may be misreading the situation. I still think it looks like a serviceable vehicle, just needs a good looking over.

We used to joke about cars with Dynaflows that you would put it in gear at night just before bed with a brick on the throttle and in the morning get in it to go to work just as it started to move.

I can’t help but wonder if the master cylinder vent is partially plugged. Happened on my 52. Took forever to figure out what it was. -

To me the white exterior and green interior clash. And a downgrade to a 350 from a 400? -

Well I had H70 14’s on my 66 Plymouth in 1972. -
And if I my paraphrase for Bloo, he is suggesting you try to find a good used differential set up. Most likely cheaper and you have to take the damaged one off anyway. At least that is where I would start if it were me.

I like bugs. As long as I don’t have to own or drive one that is. -

It is a very nice car. Got a few wear and tear issues but not bad. I admit I don’t understand after refinishing the whole car they left the underside of the hood in the condition it is. Even a black spray can is preferable to me than what is there. Especially after doing the trunk lid. Still nice and although I don’t see a reserve price a reasonable starting bid is a plus often not seen on E-bay anymore.
