  1. Alright that's very helpful. Thanks everyone! I'm gonna go with the redline gear oil. That seems to be the best option from what I'm hearing and read.
  2. So is it the same weight as 10w motor oil? Because it says 75W80, how that compare to motor oil?
  3. Yeah your right, but the additives in modern motor are not good for old transmissions with brass bushings. At lest that's what I've heard from people I know.
  4. That's the thing! I heard that ISO32 is what I should do but then found out after I bought some that the Anti Wear additives are not good for old tranys. Do you know anything about that? I can't find anything without AW in it. Also heard motor oil isn't good either.
  5. I have the original shop manual and it say SAE 10w oil. Idk maybe I'm miss understanding something. But from what I've heard and looked for, apparently regular 10w oil doesn't exist anymore. I've also heard that the 10w motor oil is not good to use. I'm kinda new to all this, just got my first classic so definitely not an expert. I haven't added any oil yet, I want to know that I'm putting the right stuff in first. Do you guys have any recommendations for a good oil to use?
  6. Thanks Lump! The reason I want to flush it is because I recently purchased the car and I want to be sure that it has good quality oil. I don't know what is in it or how old it is. It also is a little low so I need to add some anyway, but with out knowing what is in it, I don't want to mix different fluids. And ISO oil is the same weight as 10w oil, which is what the manual calls for. The only issue is needing to wait a few seconds to put it into the next gear when driving. I'm sure this is just because there's not enough resistance to show the gear due to the lower levels. It's not dangerous low, but I want to be sure the trany has want it needs Thanks
  7. I have a 1954 Dodge Meadowbrook with the standard three on the tree. I've been needing to give it a trany flush but not sure what oil to use. The original shop manual says 10w oil but that stuff is very hard to find, so I've done research and found that ISO 32 hydraulic oil is the way to go. So I got AW32 (which is the same as 10w) oil but now after doing more research, I found out that Anti Wear additives are not good on brass, which most transmissions back then had brass bushings. I've looked everywhere and I'm having a hard time finding non AW oil. Does anyone have and recommendations or ideas?
