  1. My '41 248 CI has been doing some "smoking" when stopped in traffic. Bad at times not too bad others. Engine is not using excessive oil or much at all in my limited driving. My question: Have any of you used Restore oil treatment to any success in reducing smoking problems? This all original car just ready to roll over 30K on the clock. I will also post this question to General Discussion. Thanks for the help. Wayne 1941 Super 50

  5. This is probably a question for the tech people here at AACA. Is it possible to make the font darker? I find them almost too light to read. Anyone else have this problem? Just asking. Wayne
  6. # 1 '41 Buick Super 51. Week to 10 days year round 18 to 40 miles. #2 Oil yearly ( about 1,500 miles) coolant 2 - 3 years #3 See # 1 . passengers not too often #4 Mostly country roads. Do my best to avoid modern impatient traffic. # 5 Once or twice a year. #6 Never #7 Twice in the 4 1/2 years I've owned it.
  7. It may be too late for this suggestion. I bought my Buick on photos posted on CL located 2,200 Miles from me sight unseen. I didn't know one person in the area and didn't even know about the Buick or AACA groups at that time. My wife suggested we have AAA road service take a look for us. (maybe another road service in the area if you aren't a member) I trusted the drivers opinion regarding the general condition of the car so I bought it. I Feel very lucky it all worked out fine and car arrived as represented. Wayne B 1941 Buick Super
  8. cutlasguy Thanks for posting those great photos.. Looks like you had a beautiful day to enjoy those cars. Wayne
  9. Thanks Paul Really enjoyed that video.. Oh, and you are right about the clocks... I took my '41 for a 92 mile drive Easter Sunday.
  10. Too bad they didn't show the fill up total. Maybe $5.00 for almost 20 gallons. Oh what memories. Any of you remember the gas wars at 23.9 cents per gal.? You got full service and a free glass or plate ? Of course I was only 10. Wayne 1941 Super 51
  11. Hello I am asking about the painted "Buick" logo on my dog dish style hub caps. I think when the car was built the hubcaps had painted black logo. If so mine are worn off. (I wanted to post a photo but no luck:mad:) I would like to repaint these but need some advice on the technique. I think Buick used this style hub cap for several years. Maybe late 1930's through early 1950's. Help will be appreciated. Wayne 1941 Super
  12. Thanks gents. No winter time off for Miss Super here. The advice of once a year works for me. Wayne
  13. Grant Happy to hear all is well. I always enjoy your post and responses and that you post a photo each time. I like seeing the cars. It makes the connection for me. Good luck to you. Wayne
  14. A question as to how often you change the oil in your Buick. I have driven a total of 780 miles since January 1st. Most runs are 30 to 45 miles so the engine warms up to normal temp. I will probably finish 2014 at 1,000 total miles driven. It has an oil filter. The color of the oil turns black after a few runs so I am not changing my oil by color. The question. Do you follow one year or 1,000 miles or ??? I am curious what you guys are doing on this. Thanks Wayne 1941 Super 51 28,300 original miles since new.
  15. My Buick is a '41. My Grandson named me TA TA when he was two, so my plate and user name has to be 41 - 4 - TA TA:)
  16. Thanks again Gents. I'll check that choke.. I do depress the clutch every time to start. She did crank on the first try yesterday with a very slow push to the starter.. Might be on to something here. I'll try that one again tomorrow.
  17. Thanks.. Mark and outlaw car man these Buicks require the foot to the floor to engage the starter. Impossible to hit starter with out pushing down the accelerator on original car. meteror.. thanks but yes I think it floods as there is a strong gasoline smell when this happens. Others?
  18. Call me a slow learner but I've owned my Buick 3 years and I am still having trouble starting it with out flooding it:mad:. I've tried one slow push on the acc. to starter. I've tried 2 pumps first and 3 pumps first. (any more than 3 is a guaranteed flood out). then I wait 10 mins. & try again. Car will usually start but sometimes needs another 10 min. wait. Engine is a 248 with compound carbs which were rebuilt 3 years ago. I drive it about every ten days. The weather is usually between 75 & 80 deg. when this happens so it's not a cold engine. What's the best way to start these Buicks? Thanks Wayne 1941 Super 51 28K original miles

  21. Dave I have the same problem. As many of us probably do. There are several post if you search this forum on this subject and ideas to fix it. Good luck. That's a Great looking Buick:) Wayne 1941 Super 51
  22. Rod No suggestion for you re: water pump, but just curious where your trip will take you. I admire the idea. I want to take a short 400 mile run with my '41 but it's hard to get excited about being in "modern traffic" Good luck. Hope you will post some pictures. Like to see your '40 Wayne 1941 Super 51
