1938 Oldsmobile 6 cyl 4 door $13,500
kingrudy replied to B Jake Moran's topic in "Not Mine" Automobiles For Sale
I agree with you 100%. I noticed that the insulation was flaking off my wiring under the hood, so I stopped driving my '40 Buick and I ordered a full wiring harness from YnZ in California. I am no electrical wizard, but the instructions and technical support was fantastic. When you throw money at these cars for paint, interior work, chrome and other things. It seems to me that you could be left by the side of the road with a beautiful car that won't be able to get you home. -

I often wonder, why is the electrical the last thing someone would tackle on a car this nice? -
Has the market fallen out of the pre war Buicks?

I did not see what the interior looked like, but just the upholstery material can be expensive if that needs to be re done. Very attractive car IMO. -
Beautiful style on this Cadillac no doubt a classic. That said, the Pepto Bismol shade of pink is not going to be on the top of many peoples list for a 38K Caddy IMO. The rust that is beginning to appear on the bottom of the gas tank will not get better with age. I would take care of that immediately.

I would agree with deac that the chrome door edge guards have to go. and no AC would be an issue. I would also like to know what happened in the trunk. Did the present owner store some toxic material in there? If the trunk seal was the problem, I would expect to see more of the trunk material to have gone south. Very nice looking car, but no AC would make me look elsewhere. GLWTS

So a partial conversion to 12 volt, for what reason? I would assume that the car was completely rewired when the 12 volt conversion was done. The conversion and the addition of the Fulton visor will not bring this car to 15K. I think that the flipper will own this car for awhile. Sad because this is probably a nice driving car and should be on the road.

Low option D88, so I believe the price is correct. Appears as though the engine compartment could use a little elbow grease to make that presentable, but the rest of the car looks great. -
1955 Packard 400, $18,500 Long Island

OOOOEEEEE! Is this some kind of beautiful, or what? If a thorough inspection checks out, this is an excellent deal. I don't know why, but this is the top end of what I have seen for the 400 Packard of 1955 and 1956. I believe they are a gorgeous car, inside and out. The style of the dash and the correct interior material is over the top. If my car was finished (oh so close) or I had the room, this would be my new Christmas present. GLWTS -
1948 Cadillac 76 $50,000

A very beautiful car, it appears as though every last nut and bolt has been restored and to restore a car this large surely cost a pretty penny. I hope that it finds a new home with the room and care that this car needs. -
My main interest is mostly late 1930 to 1973. As I feel that government standards ruined the looks of the 1973 model cars with the large front and rear bumpers. I try my best to point out what I believe makes a car attractive IMO and steer clear of denigrating someone's car that would serve no purpose.

I like the car, but I do agree with Crusty Trucker about the zip ties and the overflow bottle. Those things and the dopey looking air cleaner makes you wonder where else they cut corners on this car. I hope that my comments are taken in a constructive way. When asking 23K for a car, it is my opinion that you should not have to apologize for work that is done in a sloppy, or cheap way. I believe that when you sell a car, make it clean and free of non original parts, but If non original parts are used due to the seller's inability to find original parts, this should be pointed out in the ad.

I would agree with you on most everything you have stated, but the one thing that I would change on this car is the drivers side door. If a replacement for this door, that is the direction I would go. This repair is looking terrible and will only get worse. I agree with you on the price (too high). I always look at the trunk pic and this is terrible. Looks like the trunk seal has failed and rust is a problem. Rust may be a problem in other areas, so close inspection is necessary. I really like the style of the Vista hardtop.

Original Black plate with Yellow lettering California license plates were issued from 1963 until 1969, but Legacy plates were re-issued in 2021 (not certain). IMO a car that is from 63 through 69 with it's original plate shows that the car has lived all it's life in California. The plate could have been changed during the time that these plates were in use.
