  1. I will agree with Crusty on this one. If you could find a donor for the front fenders and hood, you would be off to a fast start, but then you have to deal with the front leather seat. Sadly what used to be a cool car is now in need of some pricey work. I believe that 14K is a bit of a stretch for this car.
  2. This would be a difficult choice to go with the white Sport Coupe, or the black Convertible. I would prefer this car as I have owned one black car in my life and I felt as though I was always cleaning that car. Black shows every dirt spot, blemish etc. and the car is hot as all get out in the summer. Both cars are stunners!
  3. The trunk would worry me more than the top that does not retract. Does this mean that there is no way to seal the storage compartment in the event of rain? That would be a good question for the seller. I agree nice job on all of the pics by the seller.
  4. 100% in agreement with you Reynard. Would it cost a couple of hundred dollars to have this car detailed? If the seller was asking 15k for this beautiful car, I would probably give him a pass, but at this price c'mon man do the right thing. Would the seller put his house on the market looking this scruffy? I think not.
  5. I agree 100%. Usually you see these Skyliners advertised with the hard top partially opened that demonstrates the hydraulics needed for the operation are in good working order. The ask is realistic and this is a beautiful car (love the colors) but there should be a discount for the non op hard top. My best friend had a '57 Skyliner back in the 70s, great car.
  6. https://spacecoast.craigslist.org/cto/d/melbourne-1942-packard/7670021432.html Doesn't look too bad for the price.
  7. I really like the '55 and '56 Packards, but nothing says "don't even think about it" like a car that has multiple pics of it sitting on a trailer.
  8. Nice looking car, but as it has sat for 30 years the buyer would have to set a budget to go through all of the mechanicals and be prepared for any surprises. The interior would have to be addressed also. It would be tempting for some one with the space and time.
  9. At that price IMO a GTO, or a Grand Prix would be a better buy I would certainly opt for a Grand Prix). This car is more rare, but as has been said before "rare does not always equate to higher value" There is a 1964 Grand Prix with the 421 listed on EBAY that has been totally restored listed at 44K. I think that he is not ready to sell.
  10. Very nice looking car, but the placement of the side view mirrors doesn't look right to my eye. They also look to be the clamp on (aftermarket) style.
  11. I suppose that the devil is in the details when you ask 47K for the car. Sure is beautiful. GLWTS
  12. I would also try 2CARB40 he is often on the forum.
  13. I really like the style of this car, great looking fins and the trim sure makes this a great candidate for the two tone separation. That said this car needs everything, possibly with the exception of chrome (does not look bad), but you would have to strip the car to do the paint right so you might as well do the bumpers and stainless as well. I agree with Reynard some sort of flashy color combination would make this car a magnet for buyers, current colors do no favors for this very cool car. If there is any rust under this car, I would run away. Hope it finds a good home. P. S. I did a little homework and I will change my tune a little. If you did all of the work on this car, I believe that that resale value may get you more than your investment. There is a really beautiful one on ebay for sale for 80K, maybe that is the market for this car.
  14. I agree, those zip ties under the hood sure do add a lot to a nice looking car. 10 cent zip ties on a 50K car. I do think that this is a beautiful car, in spite of the continental kit. The color is just a little bit loud for my taste, but that's just me. Beautiful car until you open the hood. I would take it off the market and clean that up and then repost.
  15. I like this car, but what really bothers me are the stains on the drivers and passengers side door panels. Could the fuzzies be worn out over time and every time you wash the car water leaks into the door panels? Might be an old problem that has been resolved, but the door panel stains really hurt the looks of this car. I do like the colors and the visor over the front windshield. GLWTS
  16. Tahachapi is a nice town located in the high desert (very dry). My best friend lived in this area for about five years. Rust should not be a problem if the car spent most of it's life there, but those rubber seal do dry out in this type of climate. The hardtop sure makes this a handsome car in my book.
  17. I do love the Oldsmobile and this is my favorite year. I plan to own a '57 Olds before I die. That said, if this car was available 12 years ago, I would be dumb enough to buy this car. I say dumb enough as at that time I had no idea of the cost and time it would take to restore this car. The restoration of my Buick has taught me when something looks "good from afar, but far from good" you have to walk away. Very sad as this would be a beautiful car if it had been treated better.
  18. I lived just outside of Pontiac Michigan and I drove a car that you could watch disintegrate right before your eyes. This car reminds me of that car. Salt is used very generously in this state.
