  1. Looks like a winner to me Ken. Glad that I was able to help. Best of luck with the reconstruct. Mike
  2. I really like this car, but green is my color, so that may be why I consider this to be a handsome ride. The interior looks great IMO, not sure if that is correct, but looks as though it could be. Having done all of the chrome on my car, I would agree with Jeff Perkins that the cost to chrome the grill and front bumper would sure scare me.
  3. Not a bad looking car for less than 8K IMO. Could be an inexpensive car to get into the hobby. Looks like the headliner needs to be replaced. GLWTS
  4. As a young man in the plumbing industry, we used to have a saying when confronted with a tough project and that was and I quote, " No hill for a climber". Meaning that if you had the talent and will any project was doable. This project would surely put that saying to a test. I agree with Neil, you would be underwater on this car if it was a gift.
  5. My 1940 Buick was painted a different color than the original color of Aztec Brown when I bought the car. I could not visualize painting the car Brown and it looking good, so I went with Royal Maroon, which is an original color. I will say that seeing this car, I do think that if the color was original to the car I understand keeping it original. Overall this is a beautiful car IMO and I believe this would be a great driving car. GLWTS
  6. I wish that the seller had not run out of film, or hired someone to take better pics of this nice looking car. GLWTS
  7. Seems like a reasonable price for an interesting car. The engine compartment looks immaculate and the exterior does look very presentable. It appears as though the interior could use some work, but this could be a fun driver while you do the small stuff. GLWTS
  8. I like this car a lot. Great styling IMO, you could not lose this car in a parking lot. I do agree with Mr. Moran that a better job could have been done on the interior. To piece meal this looks awkward to me, but might have been a budget issue. As the car has been stored for a long-time a thorough inspection would be necessary. GLWTS
  9. I do really like this year Olds as this was my first car that I learned to drive on. I had the Super 88 hard top and that car was loaded. This is the entry level car, so no AC, power windows and comes with the 371 instead of the 394. That said, the styling on this car is beautiful IMO and the two doors are rarer than the four doors. More than likely there will be some gremlins in a car that has been sitting for twenty years, but it looks like a winner to me. Uncertain of why the seller mentioned the redesign of the Olds 98, as this is a D 88, but as far as I know the style of the exterior was the same from the D 88, S 88 and the 98. GLWTS
  10. IMO the Maine license plate scares me. I know there are many collectors of classic cars in Maine and garage space is at a premium. I realize that this car is in Florida, but where has it spent most of it's life? The underside does look good, but a thorough inspection would be necessary. I do love these cars. GLWTS
  11. You're in the home stretch now, beautiful work. Can't wait to see it on the road.
  12. I agree with jdome on this. I paid 6K just for the material 5 years ago for my '40 Buick. This cars interior might cost 10K (an estimate) and the wiring needs to be done right away. I just finished wiring my car front to back last year and it is a project that will try your patience.
  13. Brutal, but true. The cost to restore the interior is probably half the cost of what the ask is. I like it, but I would not enjoy asking friends to take a ride in this car and worrying about that beautiful upholstery. GLWTS
  14. I agree, many unknowns with the mechanical systems. The car does have value, but if you have stored it in a non temperature controlled environment for 30 years, and now you are ready to sell, there must be a discount. I would question the 30,000 miles given the condition of the seat. Maybe he liked to go out to the barn and sit in it and not drive it.
  15. Yes, but the seller will throw in an engine for an extra 2k. Very optimistic.
  16. Nice looking car, but I agree with Rivguy, price is a little steep. I would question the pic of the car where there appears to be some liquid below the trunk on the ground. Is this a leak, or did the seller park the car in a spot where there happened to be some liquid on the ground. GLWTS
  17. I really hate to rain on anyone's parade, but tell me how you know this car runs and stops when the fuel pump is bad and it has to be fed by a bottle. That said, a very sharp looking two door with clean looking upholstery. GLWTS
  18. I just noticed that the padded dash looks pretty good. A closer inspection would be necessary, but usually this is a rag and the paint does not look too bad. The chrome, mechanicals and interior would be a few dollars. This car would e stunning when done. GLWTS
  19. Not a car that you could lose at the supermarket. Unusual to say the least. Seems to be in great condition for a car that is over 60 years old. Not sure if the interior is correct, but that shouldn't affect the sale. I like the wrap around rear window, looks similar to the '60s GM cars. This car reminds me of the old saying, "It could pass anything, but a gas station". GLWTS
  20. My first question about this car would be, "Does the AC work?" I like the car, but it has been stated that the power windows do not work. This could be a little uncomfortable in the summer, if you can't cool this beautiful car down. GLWTS
  21. I really like this car and I am familiar with them as I have owned two '55s. It is rare to see a two door 98 come up for sale that hasn't been abused IMO. I do not know if the price is right as the car does need paint, chrome and interior, but this is the top-of-the-line car, with all of the options including AC (probably doesn't work). I would think that AC would be a necessity in New Mexico. Nice colors. GLWTS.
  22. Yes, Southern California. South of Sylmar. I lived in the San Fernando Valley for 40 years.
  23. High dollar car no doubt. Reminds me of the saying, "If you have to ask the price, you probably can't afford it". Very beautiful car. GLWTS
  24. Really like this car a lot. Not too crazy about the 421 badges with a 389 engine and the vinyl top would not be something that I would like on this car. I can't remember seeing a '63 GP with a vinyl top, not to say it didn't exist, I just haven't seen one. GLWTS
  25. I thought the same thing as I started to scroll down and view all of the aspects of this car. Nice color, really like the dash and if you could repair the upholstery, that would look real cool (don't think that you could find that material). That said, the rear bumper would have to be taken care of and I am not sure what is going on with the passenger's side door panel, but that would have to be taken care of. I think up 5k is a little low, but it isn't my car, so I would hope that the seller is flexible on that price. GLWTS
