  1. ^^ I've made that mistake before. After checking all of the above, follow the line going to the rear axle to make sure it didn't get kinked. If it was OK, then you did another job and now it's not OK, something must have happened when you were doing the motor work. It's a fairly simple system, not many pieces. Just do basic trouble-shooting to fine the gremlin. Good luck! Mike

  3. OK, so I got the carb rebuilt a long time ago -gave it a tune up and it runs great, haven't installed the floors yet... they are a puzzle - still haven't got the springs from J&M Ent... calling them tomorrow. They should be able to make them in 5, almost 6 months don't you think? Mike
  4. Tip, Nice score. It looks real clean. I recently got a '65 that had sat for more than 5 years and I got it going. What I did was get all the tune up parts: points, condensor, coil, cap, rotor, plugs. Then I rebuilt the carb before trying to start it. Check the fuel pump by unhooking the line that goes from the pump to the carb from the carb and put it into a bottle or jar and have someone crank the engine a few times - that will show you how well the fuel pump is or is not working. Of course I changed the oil first, also. Set the dwell, gap the plugs, check the fuel, and it should fire right up. I found that I had a leaking valve cover - oil on the exhaust smells good... real good. Engines are pretty simple machines. As one company says, 'fuel, air, spark'. By doing this you will know what has been done and it should provide you years of service. Is that thing cheby orange?!?

  9. I've always liked a shot from this angle. I like the gold, too. Mine was originally goldish. It's red now but I want to do a silver interior. I don't think I want it silver N gold. If it's just basecoat, it won't last long without something over it. I used some clear from the local paint shop. It was called X-Treme Klear Koat #5165 and it's a flat clear that will seal the paint. It will also be easier to wash. Don't forget to shake it up first. It has an additive that is a flattening agent that has to be mixed thoroughly, ask me how I know. You'll also have to scuff up the gold with a scotchbrite first. You'll keep it flat longer than you think... It looks so cool! Nice ride. I was wondering about the height also. Is it springs or bags? I also ordered 3" springs from Jamco - haven't received them yet.

  12. Looks like a GS. More car, less singing... Used to live in Vegas in the late '70s early '80s... they'd find a body in the desert every week... not so much anymore, I don't think. Not really sure where the video was going, but I liked the car.

  15. I have the chassis book - it's worth getting. I like to have the paper book in the shop. I suppose someday I'll have an old laptop that I use so it's portable and can use the cd versions.   16. Sounds like now is the time. 'No reasonable offer refused'... I have a '95 Roadmaster wagon that I am about to do that with. I've had it for sale for a year and it's a nice car! People think it's too big. Not sure why a 44k mile car for that price isn't selling... but like RAWJA said, I too am drowning in cars. Someone should jump on it. Mike
  17. I understood that 63-64 were chrome and 65 is painted. It, along with the cathedrals, must be the first pieces people pull off these cars. They are always missing at the yards... Good luck with your search. Be patient, one will find you. Mike
  18. Looks like a good deal at either price. Get a painless dent removal guy to attack that hail damage hand enjoy the car. Never driven a turbo version. I had the v-8 version for a while and sold it to my brother-in-law and he drove it until it caught fire and burned down to the ground... kinda sad. Same color, too. Nice car. Mike

    True Spokes

    Santa came early. Found a set of Tru-Spokes w/tires at a local garage sale. He took them off a streetrod, so they are quite staggered sizes. 195/60 front and 255/60 rear. I'll change them to the 225/75's. I also got two extra wheels, a fair 15x7 and a good 15x8. I think all the mounted ones are 15x7. He said that they were unilug and would work from 4.5 to 5" bolt circles, and it appeared correct from the back of the wheel, but... The thing that I found on these wheels is the spacer in the rear is up to 5x5 but the front hub portion is opened up to 5x4.75. The wheels fit over the studs without the grinding, but hit the center hub of the wheel. So I got out my dremel and used the rear spacer as a guide and evened them out. These use the shank type lug nuts and they fit great. I did the fronts first because if there were to be a problem, it would be there. They cleared the rivets and the fins - barely on the fins. These wheels have 4 5/8" back space. Any more and they would work on the front. I may have to use longer nuts, or get longer studs for the final fit. Do your Tru-spokes have the spacers on them? They look like they are bolted on with 4 or 5 small bolts. The 15x8 that I have doesn't have the spacer on it, but the holes are there.

  25. Yeah, you have to do a different procedure if it is a posi. Easy to tell. Jack up the rear so both tires are off the ground with the car in neutral, spin a tire - if the other tire goes in the same direction it's a posi, if not it's open. The link has both procedures outlined. I have to do it for my goat. I know it's a posi, but I don't know the ratio.
