Looks as if, with the help of a good friend, I have purchased convertible #4. This car is complete as complete can be, but has been sitting in the damp for 50 years or so. All of the missing parts on my 48 are included on this car, except for the rust repair parts that I have on a 47' 2 door donor car I also have. All of the convertible tub parts are either on my 47 super convertible parts car (car#1) or this car (car#4). Confused yet? Matt

Got my transmission today and it is now in the garage! Maybe tomorrow I can pull the old one out and try putting the new one in. I still need to flush out the radiator lines. Also ordered a new set of shocks for the car. They should be here by Thursday, so i should be able to get them put in when installing the rear back in. Matt

Bernie, Glad you had a Buickful day out! I love hearing these plain little stories about people just out enjoying their cars. I hope to have one soon in my 56'. Matt

Was on my way to Newark Airport this morning and my son grabbed my phone and snapped this shot. Makes you wonder where it was going? Did someone purchase it? Traveling to a show? Sure was pretty though! [ATTACH=CONFIG]215129

Gotta get more sandpaper.............................Wet sanding is fun. Yeah, right!? -
Rebuilt transmission was shipped from Jims Dynaflow Service today. I should have it Monday afternoon. I will have to load it on the truck and bring it home from work. I will try to get the old one pulled out and flush out the transmission cooling lines in the radiator this weekend. Back to wet sanding on the 47'.......

I hope they never find a cure! I just painted my 47' Roadmaster convertible and need to wet sand buff. This is my winter project to install interior, wire and repair stainless. My 56' Buick Special 4 door is up on jackstands waiting for the transmission to be pulled and rebuilt one installed. Should have tranny by Tuesday and installed before next weekend. My ride to Hershey. Also, have a 48' Roadmaster convertible to tinker with over the winter. 77' Corvette needs dash installed back in car.

Image 0704 is the retainer for the door jamb lace holder that runs up by the dash at the door jamb. Image 0707 is the weatherstrip retainer for the inside of the door jamb and runs around the door hinges Not sure about the other pieces. Matt

Transmission should ship to me sometime this week. Need to get the rear of the car blocked up so I can remove the rear end and torque tube. Then I'll get the tranny out so the rebuilt one is ready to go in. I would love to have this one ready to drive to Hershey for the fall meet. Not to show, just to enjoy. Matt

Thanks to everyone for the nice comments. I have been really getting "close" to the paint and have found a few more defects that I cannot live with. But, NOT so many that I shouldn't be able to take care of all of them when I get my other batch of parts ready to be painted. We had a pretty bad storm this last week which knocked out the power for a day and after helping out the neighbors and pumping out the basement (4 inches of rain and hail in 45 minutes) I have been in cleanup mode and kicking myself for not having my new generator installed. I finally was able to purchase one after the hurricane Sandy mess and then I "fergot" about finishing up and wiring everything up so it is "legal" and SAFE. So, I should be able to finish that up this week. Then, back to the car. Should have my rebuilt transmission sometime this week for the 56' so that will take a day or two to install. So much work, so little time for cars. Matt -

Nahuel, Neat and cool way of repairing the letters! Glad you are making progress on your car. Keep up the good work. Matt -
Looking great Mud! Cannot wait to see more! You da man!

Well Lamar, Some poor soul has bid on the car. Too bad that there isn't a way to report the "correct" details about the car.

Agree with Bob. Sounds if you have pressure building in radiator from leaking gasket.

Anderson, Bring the cars and sleep in the garage in PA with me! Bigger garage in order!

1947 56C Project "Can't finish unless you start"
jackofalltrades70 replied to jackofalltrades70's topic in Me and My Buick
So, after unmasking the engine compartment and moving the car to the other side of the garage, here she is. Almost ready for the assembly process. The great part is that I have the wiring harness, (new), ready to go in. The interior is completed and ready to install. I have glass patterns for everything so all I have to do is take them to the local glass company to have them cut. I have to order a lot of rubber and seals and chrome work to have done. I will work on the stainless over the winter. And here she is.......................................... -

And, somewhere inbetween here or there, I sanded 4 or 5 runs and sprayed a 3rd coat of paint. Hard to believe that after all is clear coated, I still have a few spots where I didn't get good coverage and will have to sand/respray again. Not much, but still a thorn in the side! -
