The rear shock mount on the drivers side rear on my 56 is mangled and cracked. This is the one that bolts on the body, not the axle. I don't have a parts cross-reference that goes that high, to see what other cars might have the same. Thanks and I hope I can find one. Matt

Gil, Very nice. I was just thumbing through it myself.

1948 Engine Runs Erratically-Strange Problem
jackofalltrades70 replied to 48Super's topic in Buick - Post War
Mike, Nice to hear from you, but sorry it is because you are having a problem with your convertible. From what you are describing, it sounds electrical. Maybe a weak coil or capacitor starting to go bad. Have you tried to move wires a little while the car is running to see if you can simulate vibration? See if it gets worse or better when the wires are "tugged" or "pushed". Hope this helps, but you've probably already tried most of this. Matt -

I've been working with a lady at a small furniture upholstery business on my interior panels. She finished today and I brought them back home. I likes very much. Thanks to Pirate for the door panel layout. Not original, but you cannot get much closer. -

Almost finished with my little project I have going on. Maybe pictures tomorrow!!?? I know everyone is gonna like it! I know I do! -
That looks like a cut, grind, fit, weld repair. I stick to my first statement. Find some sheet metal and take your time. You will be suprised what you can do with hammers and dollies and vices. Been there, done that! Matt

That looks like a cut, grind, fit, weld repair. I wouldn't do the whole bottom for that little section. You are coming along good. Great job

Ed, after closer inspection, you are correct! I would still love to have a speedo in KPH. -

John, I also noticed the KPH speedo. The MPH is the smaller numbers. I would love to have one of these for my dash that will hang on the wall in the garage! -
Check out "tanksinc.com" they don't list one for 57 buick, and I don't know what one looks like visually, but you could compare it with chevy. I just bought one for my 56 Buick and it worked out great. Matt

Nahuel So happy for you, my friend! You will find yourself just staring in amazement at different times. You are starting out correctly in figuring out all of the bits and pieces. Matt -

Welcome aboard, Mrs. Shadetree! It is so nice to see you helping Robert out on the car. I hope someday to make the aquaintance of Mr. and Mrs. Shadetree, but it will not be this year in South Bend. Keep Robert motivated on Lucy. Matt -
Ok, so no tires yet. Still trying to figure out what I want. I did manage to drive the car home yesterday! Yippeee! I changed out the plugs and wires and it runs a little better now. I still need to check the timing out and some other odds and ends. I cleaned up and polished some more. I also touched up some of the white with a rattle can. Cleaned on the interior a bit more and checked the car over generally speaking. I need to order some sway bar bushings and rebuild kits for the ends. I also was curious about where to find wiper arm replacements. I was able to order these from Advance Auto Parts. They look "period" but not correct! So I changed the rubber out from these to my old, correct blades. So there are some available for those that want. Part # 33-122 (Trico). I think she looks a lot better now.

thanks guys for the kind words. I still haven't got the other things back together yet, so no pictures. It's too durn hot to work out in the garage anyways. I've been cutting loose in front of the a/c lately. I work in a foundry, so the energy gets sucked out every day. Matt -

I've been quiet, but for good reason. I hope to get a chance to take some pictures soon. I had to walk away from the sheet metal and do something different for awhile. Aside from working on the 56', I've been screwing around with some other stuff.
