  1. If it helps here is the talk on the gauge for the '54.... Pages from 1954 Shop Manual Full 4.pdf
  2. To be honest...I joined out of a sense of indebtedness to all you the Buick community....yes the Bugle did have a factor in that decision as well. There are so many who put in more than they take...as a newbie I could only start with monetary support which I hope to one day to add to that. The cost of membership is about the same as a tank of gas (CDN member) so for the life of me I can't understand why not join and support those who would so willing support you if you would have the need. Methinks there is and underlying issue/agenda other than just monetary or BCA policy... All that being said, direct and succinct criticism can be helpful...as long as it has altruistic motives behind them. Thank you to all contribute....
  3. For what its worth...the same condition exists for my 54 Roadmaster. The passenger mirror is useless to the driver, unless said driver is outside the car looking back at it from the passenger side.
  4. The change was referenced in a BPSB #2.387 April 22 1955 I agree MrEarl...it took away that nice logo on the covers.
  5. Sadly its just a fact of life on the Internet...just don't go back. When I need info for a particular car I just Google the make and model with the word "forums" at the end. This is what I got when I did that for your Caravan
  6. As someone who witnessed a nasty Die grinder accident I have to add caution. Great tool but has to be used properly and with total patience. The one I saw was electric but the term "Dremel Tool on Steroids" was accurate. Should be what you need though...just be dammed careful, a full face shield and good gloves are required in my opinion.
  7. I love the thought of someone saying "snowed in" with a southern drawl accent:D
  8. I think the modern "Winter Snow" tire speaks more to the rubber compound being softer and more subtle to the needs of driving on ice and snow. Yes the old "Knobby" tires are visually more aggressive but a true winter tire was designed to keep a good grip at low temps regardless of how much "clean out" was required from the snow. When were the first considerations for the rubber compounds to be optimized for the ice and cold weather, is what I think of when the first "Snow/Winter" tire was made.
  9. Hmmmm...they seem legit to me. Look at their improved Health and Safety news To bad they don't have an editorial department to fix typos and spelling mistakes. Oh yea an another obvious mark: bobcoleman@ovi.com steven.robb@rocketmail.com Nice contacts....not only they are not related to the company but they are different.
  10. The judging manual speaks to that on p52: http://www.aaca.org/publications/manuals/judges/2009_Judges_Guidelines.pdf
  11. What I don't get is all the cars that sell for far less than what it cost to build? I forget which one but there a car that was touted to have receipts for over 600k in build costs yet it was sold for around 200k...and was expected to sell for that????? I don't know many people who just give away money....especially the rich ones. So over hyped or under sold? There were many examples of this (not as extreme mind you) that kept crossing the auction block...made me keep asking myself: Were are all these magnanimous car guys that "just do it for the love of the hobby" and not "the money"? Surely theses two concepts go somewhat hand in hand when we are talking this kind of high dollar amount. To be honest...I was just pissed because the ONE car I wanted to see go across my screen was the 54 Roadmaster Lot 705.1. The Speed coverage started the very next car.......
  12. So you say you just found it? ...why is that plane behind you missing an engine?
  13. Make no mistake..the depth of Google's data mining is impressive to the point of being scary. This is all logged and kept. There is no such thing as privacy on the internet. /end of hijack
  14. Are you referring time line 2:40? I did see some tracks...faint but with the quality of the video compared to what we are used to it is a hard find. I too was shocked with the volume of car traffic....must have been rush hour
  15. Heheh...was waiting for that one, next was the marriage proposal.
  16. Trust me when I say this....coming from another newb There is nothing that you can't do on your Buick when you have some tools, a shop manual and an internet connection directed right to here. Yes it helps to have others around for guidance and assistance but it sounds to me like you know your way around the car enough for you to do almost anything. Take lots of pictures of anything you want to fix, post them here and you will get all the info you need. Need parts?? Just ask here and people will help you find them. I can't tell you how much I have learned from everyone here... BTW....What are your future plans for your Roadmaster?
  17. Better yet it still works! I have more pics...I'll get some to your email in the next couple of days.
  18. Great Link! Saved that one, thanks for posting.
  19. Please keep us informed on your progress...I am soon to start a complete rebuild of my '54 322 Nailhead. I have been looking around for the full rebuild kits but I'm told there are some issues with the oil gallery plugs, particularly on in the rear where they install too deep ans cut off oil flow. Could someone elaborate on exactly which one? Good luck with your project are you doing the assembly yourself?
  20. I have a Buick bud who is in this right now.....
  21. Not knowing how the insurance system works in your area but I know that If I was in the wrong I would want to leave my insurance out of it all and pay out of pocket up to at least 1k. The rates increase at a criminal rate here once a claim is made. That point may be moot though. Was there a incident report made with the police? If so his insurance will get wind of it and it will not matter. Personally I would make sure you have in writing an admission to fault and a satisfaction guarantee of the repair otherwise you should just go the full legal route of insurance.
  22. Is this where we post our "Winter Rides"?
  23. It took me two cans of the wonderful PB to get the front clip off and dissasembled from my 54 Roadmaster Nice stuff....
