  1. The old saying "time flys when one is having fun"certainly applies here. Almost two years, indeed. Thanks for the ride, Bernie. Ben
  2. I like it ,Too, Don. Making it youe own is the way to go. Ben
  3. Kruse knight, perhaps you are thinking of the '51 and later Special. All '50s are the same. At least the ones I have are. Ben
  4. Dale, hope this helps. Not sure on the return line on the '46, but on my '50, it goes into the head at the right front corner. In the second picture, from another members car, the inlet line, attached to the side, top of the filter can be seen aattached to the main oil gally below the coil. There are several connections available on the gally to choose from. In the first picture, the return line from the bottom of the filter attaches to the connection seen at the top front of the head. Ben
  5. [Just don't get carried away] I can attest to that. And I only did the trunk lid!! Still have not been able to get it buffed properly. Yours is looking GOOOOD, aces! Ben
  6. As is Rick!!:D I know, but could not help myself. Ben
  7. Actually, the '53 Special was the last Straight Eight. !953 Super and Roadmaster and all series from '54 forward were V8 for several years until V6s, inline 4s came along. Ben
  8. Keith, how about a picture of the engine from the other side, with the exhaust manifold showing. Ben
  9. Your estimate for restoring is way on the low side, I fear. IF you can do the painting and upholstry your self, you Might do it for that, but doubtful. Having said that, the journey is priceless. Good luck. Ben
  10. Keith, let us see a picture. My first Buick was a 1940 Special. Nothing wrong with a Special. Ben
  11. Been sitting there a day or two!!! You should at least break even. And think of the experience of a Southern Good Ol Boy making a trip up north in the winter. PRICELESS!! Ben
  12. Then you should have no complaint!! Ben
  13. I am thinking same as John. 53 came to mind as soon as I saw it. Ben
  14. Jerry, the braided ground JohnD is speaking of is on the passenger side, rear of the head, on the water temp bulb/line. Ifthis is not connected to the cowel, the body ground is comprimised. But like others have said, look for the draw. Might try unhooking the ground at the battery to see if this eliminates the dead battery. Will prove battery is good or bad. Ben
  15. Go up there in a pu, pull the engine and tranny , call a roll off tow truck , haul the rest to the crusher. Might work out cost wise. Ben
  16. Sounds like your brother has a VERY good brother. Good on you, John!! Ben
  17. Dave, I don't know the answer to your question. But I am amazed that starter teeth of that, or any, era broke often enough to be a specialty repair. Live and learn. Ben
