Dave Gelinas (XP-300)
Hello to all.Yesterday (9-26-12) I started a thread on a proposed 1958 Buick Roadmaster Emblem. The link is below.http://forums.aaca.org/f162/1958-buick-roadmaster-emblem-one-didnt-336946.html#post1083648After posting that thread, the thought came to mind...What is your favorite Buick Emblem?Buick had many emblems over the years and had several different ones on the same car. As an example my 1938 Buick has five. The grill, the bunper badge, the trunk, the steering wheel, and the emblem on the heater. All different. So! What is your favorite Buick Emblem? There are no right or wrong answers. Every one' selection is good because in my view Buick had great emblems. My two favorites, the 1947 and the 1941.Which one is yours? WQ59B
I could go along happily with your 2 choices (the narrow/tall, and the blocky/chunky), and would add Buick's 1911 logo :
Dave Gelinas (XP-300)
In my view the 1911 was quite awesome. The letter b surrounding the rest of the letters "uick"
Centurion
xp-300, great topic! I agree that Buick had many memorable emblems over the years, and Buick seemed to be unique in that many individual series received their own emblems.I'm familiar, of course, with the '59 emblem, which was used for a single model year on the trunk lid, with smaller versions utilized in the interior of certain models. What's cool about it is that it is highly-stylized in a "space-age" manner, yet retains many of the elements -- like the cross and deer head/antlers -- of Buick's traditional coat-of-arms. Please click the image to see the details I'm referring to. Edited September 28, 2012 by Centurion (see edit history)

(See my related thread listed above), but as you said "Space Age'. Edited September 28, 2012 by xp-300 (see edit history)

Dave Gelinas (XP-300)
Wow!I almost forgot that emblem. My father's second new Buick was a 1964 Wildcat. I'll never forget that car or that emblem. Thank you for the addition.
Centurion
I've always admired the Buick 8 emblem from the grill of the 1937 models:
Guest my3buicks
Hard to beat the Buick emblem of the 60's before it was sterilized to what it is today. Arguably the most recognizable of all the Buick emblem configurations.
Dave Gelinas (XP-300)
Centurion: Good addition. It's not easy to pick the best. Buick put out some great emblems. Dave Gelinas (XP-300)
my3buicks. I was wondering how long it would take for someone to post the tri-shield. One of the best. You are correct, it has been sterilized.

Dave Gelinas (XP-300)
Smithbrother:Fellow member smithbrother sent me this photo by email. It is a 1936 Buick emblem that he designed from leather and stainless. Those familiar with 1936 Buicks will recognize it from the cover of the 1936 Buick Brochure. He did a good job with it.Thank you Dale for sending it in. Edited September 28, 2012 by xp-300 (see edit history)

smithbrother
I am working on another like the one posted #13, but this one is made from a 16" convex disc of aluminum and the wings will spread approx. 36". I cut the letter to scale from the 36 original out of stainless sheet stock. I sprayed the disc. a maroon color, and pin striped it vertically every 3/8" to give same affect as original enamel units were. I am working also on one like the 1946 float that Dave has below his posts. I am trying to buy a model off of ebay, but so far they are going for approx. 2-3 hundred bucks. I'm hoping to find one for less than a hundred, we will see. Dale in Indy

IMO Buick was fond of using Heraldry in its emblems. Edited September 29, 2012 by xp-300 (see edit history)
Gene Brink
Hard to fault any of the "Buick 8" emblem from the 30's - all are great. Also love the '55 side emblems. My favorite steering wheel emblem is the '53 - sorry I don't have a picture.
Centurion
I'm rather fond of the Centurion logo, along with its mascot...And, in case anyone is wondering what the actual Centurion emblem looks like, here's an example: Edited October 4, 2012 by Centurion (see edit history)
Dave Gelinas (XP-300)
Gene:Having grown up in a 1955 Buick, I too have a fondness for the side emblems.Buick had a way with the designs of their cars and the "perks" that went along with it.The Gold Buick Emblem on the doors of a 1955 Roadmaster is one of those "perks". A touch of class in my view.I have said it before and I'll say it again. Buick had class and style. Not glitz.(Century side emblem from the web.) MrEarl
Thanks for that link Ron. I had read it before but had missed a couple of interesting facts, these being.... "By 1960, the logo went from one shield to the tri-shield, representing the three Buick models then being built, LeSabre, Invicta and Electra." and finally IMO the sad end of the Red, White and Blue. "With the new see-through design, there are no longer colors in the shields." "Probably" due to the begin of a more global market , spelled C-H-I-N-A . Which granted probably contributed to the saving of the Buick line when other GM lines were disappearing, but did they really have to remove the RWB which has been present since the beginning. I guess however, whomever designed the first logo had some pretty good insight........... In the signature box you will see "SIGPIC/SIGPIC" or something to that effect. That is your picture. BTW I love yours. Place your curser next to it and add a couple of spaces and type what ever you want. Use the tool bar above and select fonts colors and size. Hit the save button and your done.P.S. I too was surprised to hear that the red, white and blue shield represented Lesabre, Invicta and Electra. Also I have added a few pics to the gallery. You can check them out if your interested. Guest 63-Cat
A few more that I like.Did anyone ever notice that this shield is bass-ackwards. It's the same at CarsInc where the emblem is for sale. I assume this pic came from there. I wonder if it's just the back side? MrEarl
Ron I tried your directions for the signature but what I want to do is bring all my text down beside the picture and when I tried, one line comes out beside it and the rest below. But I won't hijack this thread and will instead maybe start another thread dealing for help with it. I did go to your gallery and oh man what a beautiful interior and the tach in the console IN 1963, awesome. And in keeping with the subject, I've never noticed the Wildcat emblem on the door panel.
